I see Cafe Sports & that tri colored one on ebay almost all the time. Or you may find a clean Rosso or Nero. Or...perhaps an 8v Griso

I would ask them to just take the bike & write a check for what you believe is the fair market value of your bike. That way you dont have to go through the time & trouble to fix the bike. Its a lot easier to just go buy another clean umolested bike than it is to fix a wrecked one. Of course thats only what I would do.

The first mod I did to my bike was adding the pod filters. It was purely for cosmetic reasons as I like the look of it. The other benefits are less weight & the bike is easier to clean & work on with out the box in it. Just clean the filters once a year with the k&n filter cleaner & after that keep then oiled.

Thanksgiving Day in America
richard100t replied to a topic in Special place for banter and conversation
I just had the RM out on a cool sunny, thirty something degree day here in Ohio I feel thankful that it started & I enjoyed the freedom of the air rushing by me at something very much more speed than the law allows. As for the political viewpoints, I have one or two.....maybe some other time -
Good for you! Somebody needs to buy a new one now & then so they can stay in business

I have never used the manhole cover to access my oil filter so I'm not sure if its as important what sort of tool I use. After reading several posts about the filters backing off & causing massive engine damage I remove the pan every time. Once the pan is off you can carefully inspect everything & wipe the pan clean getting all the old oil out. Also when you put the new filter on you can really get the feel of how tight it is on there. Fwiw the tool I use is an adjustable type that clamps onto the filter as pressure is applied. Of course everyone is not going to go through all that time & effort to change the oil so just be very careful to make sure the filter is screwed back in correctly. Others have suggested that you need only to change the filter every other oil change too.

I have a pair of Dainese D-dry boots. They are the most comfortable boots that I own...period.

I'm very interested in hearing about the politics in other countries. Its good to know which way the winds are blowing. This board is comprised of probably 99.5% adult males so I think we can have a certain amount of foul language & silly pictures without offending anyone too badly. Of course there IS a line of common decency & politenes that we should treat each other with, hence the moderators. I think the general rule of thumb be that you shouldnt say something in here that you wouldnt say to someone in public.

The specific purpose for the second amendment to our Constitution, meaning the Founders thought it second in importance only to the freedom of speech, was for the citizens to have to means to rise up & overthrow its government should the need arise. The notion that it is to protect sportsmen or hunting is absolutely ridiculous. If a citizen militia cannot bear arms that are sufficient to protect itself from tyranny then they are already being subjected to a form of such. In the last generation or so people have come to expect everything from the government without ever having to provide anything in return. As long as enough of the people are kept poor enough, AND stupid enough, legislators will find a way to whittle away at their civil rights. I really dont give a damn how other people in other nations conduct their affairs, thats their business. But I prefer much less government annd more freedom here in America.

I think the looks of the Stelvio are growing on me. I really dont care for the green Griso, but I do like the wire wheels.

It looks to me like he had them on during some sort of slide or get off. The one on the brake side has been ground down pretty well.

Very good job! I like the white racing stripe a lot, the red belly pan looks cool on it too. I'm anxious to see the new painted windscreen. It does look like the rossopuro head sliders did their job & saved your bike from more serious damage.

But what if I want it all for myself???? The person selling the item on ebay has a right to make as much money as the market, meaning us, is willing to pay. Thats how an auction works.

The only mechanical difference is the single plate clutch...I think

You have to clean this little part of the bike periodically to make sure that it doesnt get clogged full of road grime. When it gets so dirty that it wont do its job, the pressure builds up in there & the oil must go somewhere. My advice is to take it off every year or 8k miles or so & soak it in a cleaning solution & go over it with an old toothbrush. I dont know if someone modified that cap on your friens Rosso but there is supposed to be a cap on there to keep crud out of the bevel. I would not under any circumstances, ride the bike with a hole in the top of that cap! If the one you have has been modified or is broken, talk to one of our fine sponsors in here & get a new one.

When you remove the box & add pods you need to richen up the tps setting or it will ping. I have pods & it did the same thing until I had the tps adjusted. I'm 95% sure thats your problem.

Idle OK, but TBs not balanced: Bleed Screws?
richard100t replied to tmcafe's topic in Technical Topics
I have a twinmax & it works just fine. Mercury sticks would be better because you can see both cylinders at the same time for balance level. BUT for general purposes the twinmax will get you to the same place. The white knob can be used to tweak it with the rod connected, but you still have to know which way to turn it. Its very difficult to tell if you're going the right way without a measuring device hooked up. Also once you have the tb's balanced very close I use the bleed screws to get it just perfect. I always set the tb's with the engine at idle. The idle screws are just a doorstop type of thing & dont do anything other than hold the throttle open a pinch. With the twinmax I can turn the sensitivity all the way to the highest setting & get it to barely move off center at idle speed, so once you get the hang of it you can get it dead on perfect. -
I agree that you need to richen it up a good bit if you modify the intake or exhaust. If you open either end up & dont give it more fuel it will ping.
-
First thing to check when it starts pinging is the throttle bodies to see that they are still perfectly balanced. I have heard that you should try not to use gas with ethanol in it if you can avoid it. That may have been part of your problem too. If your tb's are balanced then the tps is the next thing to check, then the valves. If it still pings after that I'm out of advice

Someone had started a thread in here years ago with a lot of the Rosso Mandello frame numbers in it. I remember because mine was there. There is no number on the triple clamp, the side panels are plastic & they do have a number on them. If yours isnt a "numbered" Rosso Mandello it will have a little flag logo where the number logo would be. Aside from the single plate clutch its mechanically the same bike as the rest of the red frame v11's. The exhaust is the same standard exhaust as the rest but wrapped in carbon fiber to give a sportier look.
