  1. I need expert advise... Can anyone tell me if a seat from a 2004 sport will fit a 2002 Lemans. I'm thinking they are the same seat pan, can anyone say for sure? Thanks, in advance...
  2. Great Photos Did I see one from 29 Dreams? One of my favorite places! Was the crash scene from Mt Cheha? (SP?) Looks like a great trip...

    rubbers

I've made the same repair. I also ride a Beemer so I'll call this fix an improvement.... It also gives you a means to tighten down if needed after a few more bumpy roads. The Guzzi replacement will fail again and costs to much!

    Confession Thread

Don't know if this one really counts, you tell me... I bought my Lemans from a guy that crashed it about a year before I bought it. Had trouble getting the clutch to work and checked these pages for the "expert" opinion. Replaced the pump & lever. Bleed the system many, many times. After sorting through all of the opinions I tried a little "redneck" enginering... Started the motor (out of gear) and held the clutch lever in until the motor warmed a bit. Then I worked the lever many times, about 20 strokes and the clutch broke free. I'm guessing the twin plates had stuck together sitting around in North Carolina for a year. When I reported to the forum I got the feeling it wasn't the proper fix. I've had no troubles with it for over 5000 miles. By the way... expert sometimes know as : EX-Spurt = EX, has been & we all know what a spurt is....
  5. Don't forget North Georga & T.W.O. a.k.a. Wolf's Pen Gap. So many great roads and so little vacation time...
  6. Gary speaks the truth... F.Y.I. I use heated grips and vest on a regular basis with no problems. My experiance has been that light added to the "drain" will kill the battery. A option I tried is LED driving lights, it worked. The LED driving lights help to be seen but not with seeing. = weak electrical systems... It's a Guzzi thing
  7. I'm on my second Gustafson windshield. My LeMans has a+5"with SAeng winglets and I really like it. It takes him quite a while to get it to you but he can do what ever you ask. I also had a Gustafson on my Quota and it greatly improved conditions on that bike. If you start drilling holes keep in mind that it takes significant area to equalize pressure.
  8. My last Guzzie came with A Russell " day long seat" (02 Quota). I've never been on a more comfortable seat. The problem is that it would look really strange on a V11. After a few more long days on this sad excuse for a seat (stock) I may part with the money and endure the jokes as I ride away...
  9. A suggestion... I replaced the grips on my LeMans with "Hot Grips" / heated grips and put high density foam slip-overs. They are larger diameter than stock, warm and vibration absorbing. You can get the slip-overs pretty cheap from the bemer bone yard (www.beemerboneyard.com). I also have the throttlemiester (SP?) throttle lock and 14 oz bar end weights. With some work this system can be installed on the stock bars.
  10. If you want a cheap alternative... Try some window tint cling film. Its pretty cheap and you find out if this method prevents gonad damage. I attempted it this past weekend and it works. Looks pretty goofy but works. I found the film at Wallmart for a few $ and was "fully functional" after a hard ride.. I also put a wool cover over the seat (Alaska Leather). It helps, however its butt ugly. Extreme, temporary relief for the real sore ass.
  11. I understand the pain.... I put after market heated grips on my Lemans... Very hard and thin. I found some "slip over" foam grip covers that are high density, the heated option still works and the grip is much softer killing some vibration also. Check out the beemer boneyard for the grip covers (beemerboneyard.com) They are cheap and work well. I suggest buying more than one pair. They are tricky to install. One hint - - push, don't pull!
  12. I found that rubber coated pegs from a DUC Monster fit with no mods.... Cheaper than anypart Guzzi...
  13. I've noticed the clutch master cylinder fluid is getting dark. A brief history: 2002 Lemans that I bought crashed... Replaced clutch master cylinder and fluid in December 05. I have put 2,500 miles since then. Things work fine but what causes this fluid to get so dark so quickly? (dot 4 fluid from the local auto supply) The fluid level has not changed and I have not added any since Dec. 05. All of the fluids were fesh and none of the others have gotten dark, whats up? I need expert advise, got any?
  14. Amen! I used to ride a Quota... The Lemans has great headlights in comparison. I've never purchased a bike with the lights aimed correctly. Make some adjustments... It will help considerably.
  15. "I too have entertained the snobish Harley stare, all those posers who ride 10 minutes from home with their typical "biker" garb. When out on the road here we usually engage in the friendly biker wave when approaching another motorcycle, however my son and I have noticed the Harley crowd can't be bothered to wave." I had a Harley Sportster for a while last year. I only got return waves from riders that had enough coordination to ride with one hand for a second or two... They wouldn't even talk to another Harley rider if that guy is wearing a helmet.. Truly the deffinition of bigots! Another time while I was on my BMW I stopped to help a stalled Harley rider near Sturgis, SD... The guy flipped me off. So I left the jerk stranded along the highway near midnight, miles from anyplace and felt good about it. I love bikes, all bikes, the Guzzi riders are by far more... friendly.
  16. I have both, a BMW 1150RT(52,000 miles since new in 02) and a Lemans. The Lemans is a recent addition and has only made a couple trips so far... (200 mile days). You are likely to enjoy the Guzzi but might make a few modifications to make it more confortable. Thier are many threads on this forum that will help. Some are cheap and others are not. Maintenace is much simpler on the Guzzi but parts can be an expensive problem. Modifications to my Guzzi, purchased after a crash: Gustafson +5 windshield SAENG winglet + micro-swirl edge Evolution foot rest relocator kit Hot-Grips, heated grips BMW power outlet Buell mirrors (better view) Ducati rubber covered foot pegs Tekno removable bags Guzzi luggage rack After the crash(previous owner) I spent about $1,400 total encluding other parts not listed. I'll take the BMW for that 5,000 mile trip, but have more fun on the Guzzi on the 2,500 mile trip... just my
  17. "Woke up, got out of bed, draged a comb across my head" Had breakfast with Debbie.. Rode the BMW, parked it then... Went riding with RichT100 A pair of Guzzi's looking for trouble! Or was that a speeding ticket we were looking for?

    Winter Rides

I was driving through town with my wife. We were looking at new cars because My Jetta TDI has 250,000 miles on it and I'm getting really tired of it. I look up to see a Rosso Mandello zip past with what looked like a Rich100 on it. Looking down I see the temp. gage reading 33 deg.F. That guy's really in need of some help! I wish I could catch him to tell him so.... Anybode else had a sight like that?
  19. Jokes? Whats the difference between a Harley and a Hoover? The hoover has a dirt bag on the inside! My first violation?

    LAMINAR LIP

I have a 02 Lemans that I bought crashed. Replaced the windshield with a Gustafson +5". I added a SAeng "winglet" and microswirl edging. The result while not "purest V11 like" is very effective. It does save a lot of pounding on my old neck. These bikes would be great if I had eyes in the top of my head! Thats just wrong... the bikes are great it's my head thats the problem or maybe all those stupid tricks I used to do on my old Bultaco's & Maico's. SAeng products work well and service is good to.
  22. I did not relocate the foot levers. I wear a size 9 1/2 boot. The gear shift is a bit of a reach but not a big problem for me. The price is low enough, give them a try, you can always take them off because no special holes are required. I did need to make a spacer for the brake lever. The new bushing is a little to long and allows the lever some movement side to side. My redneck mechanical abilities allowed me to use a dremell tool to enlarge the inside of a flat washer. I can reach the gear shift with my foot locked on the peg (heal against back of peg). Its hard to feel the lever that way. If my heal is on top of the peg a good solid lever is felt. Hope this helps Tracey
  23. Just a note of thanks. I installed the relocation kit and it works great for me. Good service too.... I was concerned about any movement to the rear with the pegs but as it turns out its better. Most noticable a stop lights because my legs are clear of the pegs. Thanks again...

    broken mirror

I bough a crashed LeMans in November. I went the cheap route and bought Buell Firebolt mirrors. They are not a match, reach out farther. But... you can by both sides for less that the price of 1 Guzzi mirror, if you could get a new Guzzi part that is...
  25. I suggest textile. I learned that leather is equal to about 7 layers of skin and textile is said to be equal to 13 layers. A sick comparison but padded textile is better for road use. Race guys have different motivations and will no doubt have a geat deal of info. I use both but always use textile for long touring trips because of the excellent rain protection offered. P.S. Buy that Guzzi your thinking about!
