  1. Iz dat a Norton fastback tailsection on that bike? Looks waay cool!
  2. I'm running stock rim widths on my '02 LeMans, but the switch from the stock Bridgestones to the Diablos has been a night & day difference.
  3. I used a "sloshing sealer" in the fiberglass tank of my '68 Commando and what a pain in the @$$ that was! The stuff doesn't stay where you want it to so I was sloshing the dang thing for an hour and a half before it would stay put. Now the fibreglass is starting to blister. Could it be that MEK solvent and fibreglass don't get along too well?
  4. Will he need the moly lube to re-insert his bung plug?
  5. I had some serious tank suck going on a while back, but I was able to get rid of it by blowing out the lines where they run up by the filler neck. I didn't use compressed air, just a rubber bulb thingy and it did the trick.
  6. That's good news. There's a switch position for the mode of tach operation also. When I first installed the My15M in my '02 LeMans the tach was jumping all over, but Cliff explained that it was alternating between engine RPM and throttle position and his website clearly states this also. Mybad! I'm still running open loop and making some progress just by fiddling with the Optimiser a bit. I have to send Cliff my current map for a few tweaks, but its showing a lot of potential.
  7. The president certainly has a lot of executive power during wartime, but he can't just level the whole mid-east without consent first. At least not yet anyway.
  8. I don't know whether to laugh or cry when I hear stories like this. I read a story once that was printed in a reputable medical journal about a guy who worked in a shop with equipment that was driven by leather belts. Apparently he worked alone at night or something and for self gratification he would rub his pecker against one of the leather belts while the machine was running. Well, one night he managed to get his privates caught between the belt and the pulley and ended up losing one of his nuts. In a panic he stapled his scrotum together and then waited a few days to seek medical attention until the pain and swelling got too unbearable. It seemed unbelievable when I read the story, but it wasn't an article in the National Enquirer.
  9. It happened on my '02 LeMans a few times, but always on the right side. If the EFI wasn't so lean it probably wouldn't backfire at all.
  10. Thanks. Since I have the Staintune cans I'd really like to go ahead and get the headers and x-pipe coated. Its mostly an aesthetic thing, but there's quite a contrast between the polished Staintunes and the blue/purple/straw colors on the header pipes.
  11. A tuner/mechanic guy I met at a dealership told me that doing plug chops with today's fuel and fuel systems really doesn't tell you much. I don't know myself how much truth is in that, but he tried to fatten up the map on my PCIII to get rid of the mid-range popping that Al described and it just seemed to make the overall map too rich yet it still popped at part throttle/mid-RPM's. I'm now running with the My15M and putting it through its paces. I'm going through some growing pains, but I feel optimistic that I can get it just about spot on with some more tweaking and I'm only running open loop for now. On a street ridden machine the mid-range performance is crucial. At least it is to me anyway. With the amount of torque that this bike has it seems rather ridiculous to have to keep the engine spinning above 4000 RPM all the time. These bikes have the potential to be great road machines, but the fuel management issues are a nuisance.
  12. When I bought my '02 Lemans at Cycle Connection in Lodi, NJ Country Joe was running the service dept. That dealer has now changed hands and is known as Moto City Cycles, but they're no longer a Guzzi dealer. Country Joe moved over to Jack Trebour Cycles in Ledgewood, NJ out on Rt. 46. They're not a Guzzi dealer either, but he knows his stuff and he knows Guzzis.
  13. I didn't do anything with the ECU when I first got the Staintunes and the bike ran pretty much the same as stock. When I replaced the X-over and intake I re-mapped the ECU. I forgot to mention that I tried those "restrictors" in the Staintunes and I couldn't stand the whistling effect every time I backed off the throttle. I yanked 'em out pronto and haven't used 'em since!
  14. Is your friend a member of America First? I hope he doesn't eat linguini like an anteater.
  15. I've heard that Traxxion Dynamics can overhaul the Marzocchi forks with great results.
  16. I have a lidless FBF setup at the moment, but I like the look of pod filters on the V11. Is it fairly easy to convert to pods? How is the induction noise in comparison to a lidless setup? I read so many bad things about the induction noise with a lidless kit before I got mine, but the extra sound when I'm rolling on the throttle doesn't bother me in the least. I'm surprised that so many people said it would be unbearable without ear plugs. The side panels on my '02 LeMans are all cracked so I might just ditch 'em anyway which would afford me the room to install pods. Do any sensors, etc. need to be relocated with pod filters?
  17. I have the Staintunes on my '02 LeMans and have received several compliments on the sound. I think they look great on a V11 as well. There's a pic of my bike in the gallery, but its a little fuzzy.
  18. I'm assuming when you mentioned upstate that you brought it to Rockwell Cycles on 9W. I've had work done there. They're okay I guess, but I'm probably going to start using Country Joe over at Jack Trebour in Jersey for future service work.
  19. Next year I might try running closed loop with the My15M on my '02 LeMans. Hopefully it won't be too difficult to set up.
  20. How's she run with the pods? I have the FBF lidless set-up on my '02 LeMans which I think is pretty good, but I love the look of the pod filters on the V11.
  21. Will the stock headers accept the Jet-Hot coating?
  22. I had a dealer install a FBF lidless airbox kit. I wonder if they messed with the hose routing when the tank was off. I want to pull the tank off anyway to have a look at the bullet connectors in the harness. Sometimes this bike requires some bar-wiggling to get it started. My tanks really been suckin' lately. When I open the lid after a long run I can watch the tank suddenly expand. My side covers are cracked also probably due to the sucking effect exerting more pressure on the covers.
  23. I might go with the Manic Salamander weights based on aesthetics/function/etc. The vibes from my '02 LeMans always provide a case of tingles in the hands.
