I love the idea of MV Agusta. I love the helicopter connection. The Agostini, Hailwood, and Magni connections There have been modern MV Agusta I've lusted after. But they scare me. My Moto Guzzi just pesters and annoys me, but doesn't scare me. The artful little street singles of the late fifties into the sixties are also delightful, to my eye. Easy to agree that today's MV Agusta is not what it was in the days of The Count. Can Moto Guzzi be said to be that much the same as the days of Carlo and Ing, Carcano?

This very much sounds like too much load through the demanding Ignition Switch circuitry. Or faulty connections from battery to ground or battery to starter. Have you serviced the critical Main Ground from battery to the right-rear of the gear box? As well as those to the starter solenoid and the grounding bolts that hold the starter to place? Not unusual that excessive load is additive through the circuit and not just one primary point of failure. We have pulled the Ignition Switch from a Le Mans "in the field" when the owner had misplaced his key and it was time to go home. It is a fiddly operation beneath the fairing best performed by the hands of a violinist intent on the solution . . . [haha - I got to say "fiddly" and "violinist" in the same sentence! ]

Using CadreCycle.com for parts catalog, I see two different "Instrument holder/frame" . . . GU01590500 (probably for the "trapezoidal" headlight) and for "Singapore[SGP], United States of America[USA]" . . . . GU01590520 ("rectangular" headlight?) (Pages 12/13 on the CadreCycle link).

So, same faring/instrument mounting for all of the Sport 1100/ 1100 Sport-i series? Is it one piece?
-
I am thinking you are referring to the fairing "subframe"/ mounting frame, not the front spine-to-motor subframe? Any pictures you can post? [edited your Sport-i year in your post, @ffraz, to read '97.]

Very curious, on November 12 I rode mySport about 30 miles/50 km to a favorite deli out in the country. It had sat over two weeks and I did not "condition" the battery before riding as I usually do. After a bowl of chili and an hour's conversation, she would not start: slow crank-> clickety-click. I carry a lightweight jumper cable set and had it started right away. I also carry a voltmeter (don't we all?) and the charging voltage at a couple thousand rpm was a solid 14.2v. Rode home without shutting off for fuel, initiated the "PC545 Conditioning" and ordered a replacement for the (still) original Valeo starter. [FWIW, the early V11 (like mySport) do not have the Ignition Switch starting issue of the later V11. That is up to Relay#1 Normally Open contact. There is a fresh CIT 20a/30a relay in that position.]

There is enough of a hole on the broken Zerk to tap in an “EZ-Out” type bolt extractor and apply heat then a little impact to remove the leftover?
-
Hmm, I was thinking it meant he removed the terminals in the relay bases and tightened ("Crimped") them . . .

Thanks, @cash1000! Can't really see from the photo what the "new" relay is. Looks like Relay #4 is OMRON, not sure which model . . .

Less than two weeks to EICMA 2021 . . . The Moto Guzzi/Piaggio presence will be telling . . . "They" have made it crystal clear that "we" are not their target market. I'm good with that. Pretty sure everyone one knows I have my Guzzi-of-choice. That this direction has cultured a new and younger market segment, beginning with the contemporary V7/V9 range and effectively transitioning to the V85TT shows impressive direction and vision, IMHO. Will the V7/9 ---> V85TT crowd embrace this new V100 platform/direction? I, as just one enthusiast, do delightfully hope so!

Apparently, this model is the V100 Mandello. A safe introductory name without any previous model for comparison, yet with significant historical provenance well beyond the LeMans model.

Early Sport and Rosso Mandello very definitely benefit from a High Current relay in Position #1 (Start) as well as Position #5 (Fuel/Ignition). Yet, there is some wisdom in running the same High Current 5-pin relays in all positions where they will all run cooler, last longer, and be available as ready spares to swap if needed. Presently, the most available high current relay was discovered by @p6x from CIT Relay and Switch, available from various suppliers:

I mean, the image in the original post is about as bad of a representation as there is. A closer look through the several quality promotional and walk-around videos reveal some intriguing contours and transitions in the design. The green/grey with the Öhlins looks particularly nice (over the monochromatic red). I have been relieved that it did not follow the worn-out floating panel design trying to look like a GS or KTM wannabe. Looking forward to getting eyes (and ears, and boots) on one!

Wait! What? No more south'n fried chicken or sausage biscuits ?!?

The early V11 (1999-2001) stress the first relay instead of using the Ignition Switch to start. Beginning 2002, Startus Interuptus is possible in a V11. Often, simply servicing the Ignition Switch can make a difference, otherwise it's back to adding a relay to the start circuit.

Take a multi meter to the battery after it has been sitting for a few hours. If it's an AGM (especially the Odyssey PC545), voltage below 12.65 (~85%) should be cause to "condition" the battery (charge to 14.7v [15.0 volts max] with at least 6 amps). Don't expect a weak "trickle charger to bring it up, especially if the static voltage is below 12.5. Also, are you using a reliable High Current relay?

Granted, it drops the front, mostly. But rather dramatically. The V11 seat pan tends to sit down hard (especially on the early Sport), so dropping the battery mounting can help save the battery, as well. The simple solution @footgoose posted for improving the excessive number of terminal rings on the battery posts does not look like it really needs more space under the seat . . .
