Right, so . . . zero ethanol fuel in these parts is still available, but the octane (AKI index) rating dropped to 90 AKI (94 RON?). Also, I think these more expensive non-ethanol fuels may often sit for a time in the local station's tanks making them less than consistent. Of late, I've been running this Shell premium (AKI 93/RON 97?) V-Power Nitro+ . . . (I realize the formulations vary by continent, country, region of country, and even season, as well as over time). I will say my 103,000+ mile 2000 Sport *likes* this fuel. How so? Well, this is obviously a "user observation", but it pings less, *burps* and hiccups less, and *feels like* it makes a good, smooth power build-up on the throttle. Last week, I had to substitute BP 93AKI premium (with "up to" 10% ethanol) and all the bad things came back. The difference was immediately apparent. I still wonder about European fuel. No one has responded form there. I specifically hoped to hear from Meinolf as his well-designed maps are interfacing with whatever fuel is available to him in Germany. So, for now, and from here: on the Shell Nitro+ (all caveats about the Nylon tank and the effects of *binary azeotropes* remain )

So . . . look for a move to Technical Topics. Reliable, modern lighting upgrades are such a good idea for our Twentieth Century steam-punk funk. And adding the Kiwi_Roy touch to the execution can only make the outcome better.

More silly LED banter?

Still loving my bell mouth mod (ditched the restrictor snorkels almost Day One when the Sport came home). http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19239&hl=%2Baria+%2Bstock+%2Bair+%2Bbox

That's it! Nicely done. Another AGM recovered. So, would you say it was the discharge followed by applying amperage in excess of 6 amps (10 amps in your case)?

Something about a fully faired red Sachs in the boot of a Mercedes estate is just so right . . .

I know this has gone under the bridge before, but what about this moly business. Isn't a quality lubricant like RedLine MTL GL5+ (not ShockProof) adequate at this point? And the 12,000 mile/20.000 km change interval . . . Too long?

250 miles, no leak. I'm amazed. I didn't think the cleaning and refill would make any difference beyond a different colored leak.

The lo-beam is the most surprising improvement: very broad, clean, fully filled beam with impressive cut-off. Also, the reflection of signs and road markings (like center line reflectors). Even with the lo-beam, whatever-this-color-is picks up reflective markers way out there without them them being distractingly bright. While the hi-beam pattern isn't perfect, it's a vast improvement over the H4 and reminds me of auxiliary lights I've added to Jeeps. So, (especially combined with the ( )

I thought of you on my 43 mile aiming session! I think you'll like this unit ($27.74 shipped 12 days from Aliexpress/China): https://www.aliexpress.com/item/New-H4-CREE-LED-Motorcycle-Headlight-Bulb-4000LM-40W-Hi-Lo-20W-Low-Beam-Conversion-Kit/32619929937.html?spm=2114.01010208.3.27.PpxLMx&ws_ab_test=searchweb0_0,searchweb201602_5_10152_10065_10151_10130_10068_5010019_10136_10137_10157_10060_10138_10155_10062_10156_437_10154_10056_10055_10054_10059_303_100031_10099_10103_10102_10096_10147_10052_10053_10107_10050_10142_10051_10084_10083_5190020_10080_10082_10081_10178_10110_519_10111_10112_10113_10114_10183_10182_10185_10078_10079_10073_10123_142-10050,searchweb201603_2,ppcSwitch_5&btsid=e6d1f2b0-23fa-46f2-b8d1-f0ac63ba47f5&algo_expid=dca429f6-9754-4b9f-aaac-ef16f611ca97-3&algo_pvid=dca429f6-9754-4b9f-aaac-ef16f611ca97

Scud, buddy, somehow you've gotten way beyond the "Decent Tune-up!" Just back from a night ride to aim the new LED headlight. The intensity level of the faces works well for me; just slightly dimmer than the Garmin Zumo 550 in night mode. I'm glad I didn't fuss with the dimmer. The fact that the needles are illuminated separately makes them really stand out. There is a little red reflection of the needles on the chrome bezels, but I'm going to quit looking that close starting tomorrow.

Also, I believe the *conspicuity* is MUCH better between this headlamp LED unit and the spectacular LED taillight unit that Swooshdave posted!

I am definitely enjoying the highlighted red km/h in place of the Veglia's highlighted former US national 55mph speed limit [which was repealed in 1995!]. Lots of 55mph limits remain, yet (locally at least) it is acceptable to travel these roads about 7mph over the limit. Unless after midnight in which case you are going to have a *conversation* with an interested party! So, at a glance I can see the needle bisects the red 100 and the zero of the 60. Sweet!

I don't know about the depth on the LM bucket. Once in hand, it seemed to me the backside length of an H4 with the connector attached is about the same as the heat sink/fan housing of this LED unit. The LED backside is bigger around. [edit: the H4 mounting plate to the wiring on the back of the connector (with the wiring folded flat) is 42mm; the published measurement for this dimension on this LED unit is 35 mm.] The color will probably be fine. I'll get used to it. A warmer color was part of my design statement. I did feel of the bucket after riding twenty or thirty miles, and not hot anywhere. Headed out here, momentarily, to hunt down a sunset. . .

My pump is on the left side of the frame, filter on top. I groomed the pump as far forward in the holder as it would go, shortened the line from the petcock and shrouded in some heat reflective material. This set-up allows a pretty gentle routing of the line to the filter. With your pump and filter so close together, I would be sure there is no "kink" as the line turns back. Even at 0ÂșC, I wouldn't stick my tongue on those head fins. I think, with your latest round of remediation, you're ready for a test ride!

I like that idea. It occurred to me that the main connector is now off to the side and not attached directly to the heat source.

I've seen four-strokes do the same thing. Right before they hole a piston.

I'm thinking this is not the 4300 Kelvin I was expecting. Looks "hotter" to me . . .

I think it's hard to take photos and represent the changes to the light, but here we have the incandescent H4 followed by the 4000 lumen LED unit, both on hi-beam:
