  1. My comment was NOT out of line. It's your opinion that it was. The context you took it might have been. But, my comment was after the damage was done, there was abled bodies taking pictures and not attending to the damaged motorcycle. September 3 2006, almost 1 year ago today. I was hit by a car on my 1982 Kawasaki KZ1000R1 #177 Eddie Lawson Replica. Me and the bike went through a barbed wire fence. The First (not the second) thing I did was get up and go attend to the bike. It was bleeding badly since the Crankcase was cracked. Thats when I realized this. (Picture taken 2 months after the accident and 3 days after released from the Hospital) Notice, no pictures of bike wrapped in Barbed wire nor pictures of me during or just after the accident? thats because friends were attending to the important things and not standing around taking pictures. I spent 2 months worrying about the bike and the day I finally saw it was the saddest I had been in some time. I spent the next 7 months fixing the bike (without insurance money from the deadbeat that hit me without insurance). The most gratifying day was when I could put the bike back on the track and enjoy it. Not, posting aftermath photos of the accident. The bike now: So get off your high horse and get off my back. AGAIN, you don't know me, nor understand where I am coming from about my comment. My feet are firmly on the ground and never came close to my mouth.... Maybe you should have read further into the thread prior to opening yours..... I have ZERO regret for my comment about the picture. Its true. Someone felt it more necessary to take pictures than be of some help to others.... After all my years and things I can't control, I do know when to get out of the rain... Good day Sir, Richard Zimmerman
  2. From an earlier post in this same topic: I have no idea what those folk's went through nor will I ever. Must have been really tough to get out with all the carnage going on. I only seen a couple of pictures of the bikes and knowing the value, I would have been foolish enough to try to save the bikes before myself. I'm just that way. I just felt sad for the Sport just laying there and not be attended to. Thus, my comments. Richard Z. Wow, Read the entire thread before you are so quik to critisize yourself. I caught one lousy picture from another site and that was all that I had seen prior to someone getting me more information. I'm sorry if you feel slighted by me worrying about a bike. Maybe you should reflect on why there was so much carnage and no one was informed properly of possible weather conditions. Instead of taking that attitude towards me. Besides, you don't know me. Many years ago I lost EVERYTHING including my pregnant wife in the Andover Kansas Tornado. So don't be so guick to judge... My original comment was why someone would not pick up a bike AFTER the carnage not during. Richard Z.

  4. Wow, just Wow. It hurts to see all that. Glad there were no reports of loss of life from the rain at the rally. But, you know what burns me. Put the F%@king camera down and pick up that poor bike..... I'm sure that picture couldn't have been taken by the owner. I would have tossed the camera down and done everything I could to save the bikes. Richard Z.
  5. I've had Twist 1 for about 10 years and bought Twist 2 a couple of years ago. Got them out and read them after my accident. Since I had 2 months to kill in the Hospital... I have more interest in Keith Code besides the books. My 1982 KZ750R1 came from the Superbike school. It was owned by 7 people prior to me and the second owner got the bike from the school. i'm still trying to get all the documentation for it while I'm restoring it. Richard Z.
  6. I took the video the second session on each bike. I made huge improvements during the sessions after lunch. However with all the time, I got so tired I started slowing down by the very end of the day. I followed Matt Crabtree (friend of mine from Wichita) and a regular at the Track, around several laps to find what lines he was using. It pretty much came down to getting the correct reference points and getting over my Target Fixation that I've been problemed with since my accident. Richard Z.
  7. Let me see. First time on a road course of any kind. Street tires. Not wanting to take the bikes home in more pieces that I took them there in. I don't know, Really.. Whats your suggestion for the 2 min lap times. Richard Z.
  8. My 2004 V11 Sport My 1982 KZ1000R1 Eddie Lawson Replica. Engine still sounds a little flat. Still needs some tuning. Sorry, no fancy music.... Just the music of ICE (Internal Combustion Engines) Richard Z.
  9. Put about 60 laps on each bike... It was hot, but the fun sure took care of the heat.... No incidents or close calls. OK, maybe one on the ELR. Whew!!!! Too many downshifts into a corner. Almost a picture perfect highside... Only 3 of us had the track to ourselves all day.... Richard Z.
  10. I use Nelson-Rigg exclusively... Loved the 3 sets I've had on 3 bikes. I don't know if you can still get the expandables from them any more. They were great on the Triumph Sprint ST. I could even expand the tank bag and fit a helmet in it.. I have the Mini's on the V11: Richard Z.
  11. Me and a couple of friends have rented Hallett Motor Circuit just outside Tulsa Oklahoma on Thursday this week. We have room for a couple of riders. I think there will be 6 total. $225 per rider. They rent leathers there and have paddocks for shade. Email or PM me if interested. I'm taking my Eddie Lawson Replica and the V11 Sport. I need to know by tomorrow morning. Thanks, Richard Zimmerman
  12. 3 weeks. Still waiting.... All parts are suppose to be in except the fuel tank. All the dealer will tell me is the tank IS in the USA. Other than that, he doesn't know where in the USA. I find that hard to believe. Oh well... At least I have something else to ride. Richard Z.
  13. Well after some doing, It looks like they will be replacing the tank.. however, according to his information, they can't even find the right parts for the bike. A new fuel sending unit and speedo cable were ordered. Both were the wrong Part #'s. So I imagine finding a new tank will be even tougher. Richard Z.
  14. Good ole. Ziplock bag did the trick. I could still see the screen and the rain never got in... However, the faster you ride the less rain actually hits you.... LOL Richard Z.
  15. Great item for the price. Comes standard loaded and nothing to download. I used the automotive mount and affixed it to the underside of the windscreen. The bracket suction cups to the flat surface. I rode approximately 400 miles yesterday in allkinds of weather including rain. It did fine. I was more worried bout vibration and it never failed. Nice product. Richard Z.
  16. The tank on my 04 sport is riding/rubbing the frame at the forward corners causing paint damage. The damage is bad and is only getting worse. Due to the expansion and contraction of the tank it is causing these same areas to spiderweb. has anybody seen or had this happen? My dealer pretty much said live with it because they don't think MGNA will do anything about it. Thanks, Richard Z.
  17. callison, was right... Its easy to booger up the threads on the porkchop..... With some persistance I got it back together. I found a way of doing this without removing the the pivot bolts.... Do each side one at a time and don't touch the pivot bolt or jam nut. Just realign the pin when reinstalling. Use the outer monting bolts to realign the porkchops. I just masked off the bolt when coating and removed the tape before putting in the oven. The threads on my left side are a little loose due to my error. So if there is an extra one someone has laying around, give me a shout. Richard Z.
  18. I use soft ties around the lower fork brace or tree. Soft tie is a strap wit 2 sewn loop ends that you can attach a tie down to. Or you can just hook aroung the same location with a standard tie down.. Just us the rear peg brackets to tie the rear down. Here are some pics taken on my lift. Strap the bike forward instead of to the rear as pictured. I have a clamp actually holding the front tire. Hope it helps. Richard Z.
  19. I used a silver coating that is about the same color as the cylinder heads. Almost has the same look as Jet Hot with a more satin finish. Took 2 hours to cure in the oven but turned out great. The PorkChops, well that another story. The Victory Red and Cardinal Red Powders are more orange than the paint. I found some darker red today and have to blast them again to recoat. What a PITA! (PITA=Pain in the A$$) Richard Z.
  20. Thanks for the tip... After removal I was surprised by the corrosion that is already present. I am doing them one at a time so not to get my A$$ kicked going back together. While I'm at it. I'm coating the exhaust and anodizing some of the controls and brackets. Richard Z.
  21. I'd ride it... I won't jump out and buy one. But, if there was a chance to SPORT one i WOOD. Richard Z.
  22. Thank you for the reply...... I have a motorcycle lift and an ATV/motorcycle jack. So, elevating and securing wont be a problem. I thought the removal looked straight forward. Just thought I would ask just in case there is anything hidden. Thanks for the help. Richard Z.
  23. I've been looking at some of the older and different models. I've noticed that some have the RED Pork Chops. I'm guessing that is the term.... Any guides for removing them? Suggestions? Jacking? etc..... I have my own powder coating stuff and have been doing it for some time now.... Thanks, Richard Z.
