See you there! I am up for some ecumenism... I had to look that word up: From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia. The word "ecumenism" (also oecumenism, œcumenism) (IPA: /ɛkˈjuːmɛˌnɪzəm/) is derived from the Greek oikoumene, which means "the inhabited world". The term is usually used with regard to movements toward religious unity. In its broadest meaning therefore, ecumenism is the religious initiative towards world-wide unity. At a minimum, ecumenism is the promotion of unity, co-operation, or improved understanding between distinct religious groups or denominations within the same religion more or less broadly defined. Two general types of ecumenism are discernible. The interfaith ecumenical movement strives for greater mutual respect, toleration, and co-operation among the world religions. Ecumenism in this sense is discussed at great length under the entry on religious pluralism. This is distinguishable from ecumenism within a faith-group. One of the important theoreticians of ecumenism was a French priest and theologian Yves Congar.

Heck I could do that...except the tire would have no speed blur....unless I photoshopped the image

No need to apologize. In written language it is easy to present a false mood. Thank God, I mean Jaap, for the emoticons And it is certainly better that you cover the technically more obvious rather than potentially leave me ignorant. I recall the first time I asked my mechanic how to measure the engine oil level. I felt like he was taking to me like I was stupid(well sometimes he is right, like when I set the spark plugs to .070" rather than 0.70mm) But it is better that he did the full explanation, just incase.... If I don't hear from Wayne soon, I'll get Emma to give him a nudge. He seems to be the genius and she the one who keeps the Universe in order.

Ouch, if he had been wearing a watch, he would have known it was that time, and could have avoided the whole issue of meters per second of time being at too high a ratio...although that is what speedos and common sense are for, or was that wife-beater shirts, speedos and flip-flops -

No matter when you go, then you are. -
Great idea! Maybe if he can add some COOL cooling fins or Guzzi Puffin, I mean Eagle PS You've go mail.

If that is an accurate indicator, you can go a lot further. You got about 48MPG and the tank holds somewhere between four and six "available" gallons, so if you can regularly repeat that fuel efficiency, you should be able to go over 200 miles! Al R. did some accurate measurements in one thread....

"Unfortunately, the Marzocchi forks on your V11 are some of the worse designed and functioning forks we have ever seen. The cartridge is crude at best. There is no real valving to speak of in the cartridge. The cartridge has all kinds holes drilled in weird locations, it’s a mess. So I would take the recommend oil level from the manufacture with a grain of salt." "Suspension light years ahead of anything that's out there!" While I think Traxxion must produce an excellent product, and they have me sold over RaceTech, they sure do talk the talk! I suspect LE and Computrack are a bit more professional....but I don't know if they make anything with tuneable regressive damping. While a thousand dollars is a lot of money, I'll bet that suspension upgrade is not light years better, but a pretty good value for making the bike more comfortable, predictable, stable, etc. While the frame is not the most race ready rigid thing out there, the best thing you can do for the frame is to protect it from jarring forces by installing a compliant suspension. I love arguing with Ratchet and I my scottish ancestored half is fully inclined to agree with him, but not the Norwegian half that got blissfully suckered in by the Pretty Swedish Ohlins forks, and will get suckered into Ohlins for the rear as soon as I can clear some debt....now if I had just bought a Scura to begin with...

I have varied all those things without much change in MPG. Engine temperature seems to be the greatest modifier of MPG on my bike. Now that I have Tuneboy, I'll be playing with engine temperature trim map. I also want to try different valve clearances, as someone posted they got better MPG with tighter valves...(Don't worry, I won't go tighter than intake 0.004" (0.10mm), exhaust 0.006" (0.15mm), but the only time I ever broke 40MPG was before the initial service which leads me to speculate that the tighter clearance may help the MPG.
-
Can you use up the full 120mm if you hit the brakes in a drainage dip, pot hole or speed bump? Just to clue casual readers in on the effects of air space, here is the Ohlins graph:

Isn't the voter's decision for him to "get a life" that he is giving in to? Or is he merely giving in to present minority of voters who wish for: "Martin should have it he listed the specifications requested"?

I have been working with the file he sent back, so that is not the problem. But otherwise thanks for the helpful replies! I am sure you will learn more when you get your first goose in for Tuneboy dyno tuning! And I hope Wayne will enlighten us soon. For now I did a crude manual transfer of PCIII values, and it runs much better than stock....Mostly because it is enrichening. And I retarded the timing where it was pinging, and the pinging is GONE!

HMMMMM? Unfortunately I never noticed how many miles I went the one time I ran out, but I have gone over 170miles without running out. I have gotten fuel mileage readings from 30 to 37 MPG with probably more than 90% of readings between 33 and 36 MPH, and I would guestimate my average MPG to be 34.5MPG. Assuming for sake of round numbers I got 35MPG everytime I went over 160 miles, that would translate to the tank being atleast 4.5 gallons before running out.(and I seem to recall exceeding 5 gallons US a few times) If my bike sits a while, MPG seems to drop(evaporation ) If you got 31MPG and only had 4.5 gallons of available tank you would run out at 139.5 miles. But I really think your tank is bigger than that. So is your MPG under 31MPG? Perhaps your PCIII map is a little rich. One tank is barely evidence, so I would reserve judgement, but if you are getting less than 31MPG, I would start by pulling the sparkplugs, and I would get that bike on a tuning link as you probably have some serious rich and or lean spots. FWIW the fuel mileage with the Quat-D was about the same. When I got readings as low as 30MPG it was from riding a 7mile commute, where the engine barely warmed up. And please note these are Veglia miles and actual fuel consumption is estimated to be about 3% worse, based on mile markers vs. odometer.
-
Heh! It ain't that good with the PCIII and Tuneboy. It lumps around pretty well at 2500rpms, though! But it lumped better at 2500rpms with the Quat-D ex-box. But the point is that at idle, the two alternators are going to have pretty similar outputs, which is when most of the lack of charging occurs. I suspect the OEM charging system is good enough for heated grips, and a heated vest as long as we are doing long highway miles. (Doing short city trips or add heated boots and panties and you may get a dead battery)

I recall a childhood roadtrip from NYC to Chesapeake Bay in one of those two stroke Saabs, where I was asked by my mother's friend to write down the odometer reading. Being a dumb 7 year-old blonde(technically a toe-head) I would peer over his shoulder every few seconds and write down the mileage, never catching on to the fact that he only wanted the initial mileage and the final mileage. I don't recall being laughed at, but I sure felt stupid, even if it was little no more stupid than singing "99 bottles of beer on the wall" or counting the number of orange cars on the motorway. -
half-arsed?!? HALF-ARSED!?!(howling like a dingo) Pete, you got to go look in your own round head garage if you wanna see half-arsed. My bike won't be complete until I get the ergos better, the vibration down a tad, the wheels lighter, $3000 in brakes, HID and LED lighting, saddle bags, custom paint, 100RWHP(I can dream), an Ohlins shock, a few tweaks to make the frame more rigid, and longer swing arm. But it ain't half-arsed.
-
FWIW while the maximum output (32A vs. 27.5A) of this alternator is higher than our OEM, at 2000RPM the output is the same, 20A.

Cool! I hope Wayne set something up with you so that you do not have to wait for him to issue a key to an ECU. A few days ago, I sent Wayne a list of questions, but have not yet heard from him. Perhaps you, Derek, have some idea about some of these questions. I forgot to ask if the Offset was for right or left cylinder trim offset. But I asked the following: 1) The “Apply PowerCommander trim maps over the standard tune” does not seem to do anything. Does it work yet in the Guzzi Tune Edit? 2) The “Commit Trims to Main Tables.” does not seem to do anything. Does it work yet in the Guzzi Tune Edit? (and less importantly, Why does my standard tune have data in the Trim Table? I expected it to be all zeros....or is the Trim table a left cylinder vs. right cylinder thing?) 3) Will my Tune Edit work on another computer, or will we have to go through the key process again? 4) What are start enrich and accel enrich? Is the accel or start enrich table for full load or light load or something else??? Or is one of them kind of like a throttle pump emulator??? 5) Any idea when the Tune Boy Diagnostic for Guzzi will be ready? 6) Any tunes available? I think I'll give the V1102 map a shot. I assume that is for your bike (note The v1102 map is very different than my map. I don't know if that is the map that Wayne created or what, but I gave it a shot and it was way to lean down low, but it may have had more kick in the higher rpms.)

OK, I threw my stolen points back into the abyss. Perhaps it is only a small step towards bringing Value back to the points. To further bring value back to the points, Martin should accept it. The voters have spoken.
-
Isn't the magnetic field of the rotor on earlier Guzzis electrically charged while the newer ones are brushless with a fixed magnet? I suppose if you switch out the regulator it could work if the parts fit.
-
shhhhhhh! I also gave myself a quiz point and too jollywrenchers, but don't tell anyone.
-
Martin, Get a life! YOU ARE STUCK WITH THIS POINT. Why can't you just understand what Jim wrote? "You can try and guess the make and model too but no point for that!!" But then again, following that logic, maybe I should get the point for when you posted the link to an answer, but I posted the answer. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6279 But I was the only one who voted for me! The voters said nobody should get that one.
