  2. So I suppose your tent and sleeping bag hangs under the back above the wheel on this one.
  3. I think I was recruited last night by the Hobbit aka Harry. Having a few cans of Guiness tonight, watching the footie, in preparation.
  4. do you happen to have the parts numbers for the handguards, also is AF1 a US shop or and add on part number for the guards. I'm in the UK, so could go to a local dealer to get them if I am able to get the dogbone thing over here as well. Cheers. Hopefully we will see your handywork at the Scottish Rally. Take notes for the questioning
  5. The only time I use the horn is to test before annual MOT - and every year I have to replace them. Always been the horns themselves. They don't seem to last long.
  6. Agree with Mad and HaydnR. Shouldn't be a choice between the MGCGB or this Forum - both deserve full support. Guzziland ain't big enough to be too fractional. We are lucky to have such quality resources.
  7. It's only oil! An oven pan is fine, and wipe up with a tissue. It's the only time that part O my bike gets a wipe....
  8. Polish Poisoning. Most people just do the outside............
  9. Until the revolution and the workers take over, it is our duty to prop up Euroland. As Greece has nothing worth buying (apart from Ouzo) I felt obliged to spend lots of money in Berlisconi Land. He seems to have retired on his percentage..................
  10. Very shiny and red - the best colour . The only thing you probably can't do yourself is setting up the fuel injection - Mel Robinson in Glasgow is renowned for his skill with guzzi electronics. If you go to a Guzzi club Scottish branch camping weekend you'll probably see a Ballabio, Cafe Sport and two Rosso Corsa's. First thing you'll do is find somewhere in the garage for those standard cans...................
  11. Well I am quietly confident, that after I finish the first bottle, while I am driving through the land of onions, berets and stripey T shirts, I can pick up a bottle of the anisede juice to keep me going. And you can look forward to all Harry's stories. We can bore you at the Kinlochleven weekend with a mile by mile detailed account...................
  12. At least 2 V11's from Ecosse - self and Harry. Look out for his special V11 numberplate on his Rosso Corsa
  13. Hi Gary. Being someone who likes to prod bottles of oil in a shop (rather than buy mail order), the only one I can find round here is Motorex 10/60. Seems to tick all the boxes, and SG rated, and I see people mentioning it every now and then on the hundreds, no thousands of guzzi oil threads. My local KTM dealer stocks it, along with their gearbox oil. So if your changing your oil for a big trip, maybe your coming to Mandello??

    Saying Hi

Low mileage V11 eh ? Coming quite close to the top ten laws of V11 ownership is that speedos are made of toffee and don't last much more than 10k miles. So which clock is it now on? Doesn't really matter anyway as it's a real bike. When the penny drops, there's nothing much out their that compares.
  15. I spend days swearing at the 'quick release' fittings, reading lots of 'how to' postings, and was getting knowwhere until I read a bit about depressurising the line. With my V11, it won't come off without doing this. Shame I didn't see this post 3 years ago.............
  16. Norton - paying for the exclusivity. Too dear and i'm a bit uncomfortable about a new product using an old famous name. Same for the current bonneville - nice bike, but using a famous name again with no link to it. Yes, just being silly, but that's what I like about a Guzzi - even a 2011 bike has that link back 90 years. Now that 1200 Dorsodura - not my idea of a pretty bike, but the engine spec looks good. When they turn it into a shiver, and if they don't bling it too much, well that might be really nice.
  17. MMMh, I think a lack of alcohol is causing some neadless questioning? All forms have good and bad points - I like to think only about the good points - the useful points. The GB forum is OK for keeping up with generally what's going on and info on meetings if you fancy a few nights in a muddy UK field. It has a lot of rubbish, but news thrown in e.g. the 1200 forum probably closing. I have a V11, so find this site great for the technical info on keeping the bike in shape although it usually takes longer to find the info than do the job. Anything guzzi related is a bonus, and anything else may be a bonus too?? Now i've forgot what the problem is? Was their one?
  18. Well I think you answered your own question - you had a long shot and liked it, so your view the main one....Who cares what your head says, it's what your heart wants... I had one for just over a year and 10,000 miles. Have a mixed view on it. A bit agricultural but charming. A bit unique - cruisers not usually my cup of tea, but it does look special. I don't really like the cali, but the vintage looks much better. Capable at touring, but underpowered for rapid touring (the cut and thrust of European motorways). Gear change fine for leasurely pottering, but annoying during spirited driving. Panniers are good, but the hinges are flimsy so need careful handling. I always had trouble with the fairing, even changed it for a larger one - always noisy and buffeting, but it never stopped me doing big mileages, just annoying. At the end of the day I much preferred riding the V11, so I sold it.
  19. Great Guzzi road from Glasgow to Skye, and being eccose i'm biased, but can't help feel, skye being at the far corner of the civilised world, will reduce participation, just due to geography. Enjoyed the Treffen pictures, lots of bikes. Can't see that in Skye??
  20. Hi Gunmetal grey V11 type. of course It'll have to be abberdeene red, unless it's another colour.....Harry phoned me to tell me about the Andywhoppit post, and there's you babbling away as well. Just goes to show we need to get out more....Thought I saw one on the shirlaws site? Yup still can't find an alternative to add to the short list of one. Just have to find one that somebody like andy hasn't broken James
  21. Seems to me it (the 1200 sport) is the only two up sports tourer for the 'I want something different' brigade. So has it got the panniers? If yes where are you trading it in? Oh nearly forgot - Aaaberdin
