  1. Oh, man.. sorry for you and your dog. Unless they have changed it in the last couple of years.. yes. the 20-50 is still SG rated. Correct. When you pull in the clutch lever, the 2 clutch plate and intermediate plate splines are free to rattle back and forth on the splines of the transmission input shaft. Not much, mind you, but that is what you are hearing. If done for long enough, it will wear a flat spot on the input shaft and cause you some grief. Bump it into neutral at stop lights, etc. When you let out on the clutch lever, the springs will hold all those parts tightly and no wear will take place. That is another reason to keep the rpms up at idle. There will be less shaking when the clutch lever is pulled in.
  2. I put over 40 K miles on a Centauro.. about half of them 2 up. (!) Dorcia and I went everywhere on it. HB bags and the (ahem) luggage rack were plenty for 1 up rally/camping. It's essentially a V11S with different but quite capable WP suspension, and that great (if you don't mind tinkering with it) Dr. John 4V motor and a 5 speed. Aesthetics are subjective.. I grew to like it.. but it still looks modern today. I had many comments, from What the hell is that?? to That's really Kool, man.. The Grease O is just a modern version of the Centauro. Both are great non cookie cutter bikes. Love em or hate em. I'll take door number 1, Alex..
  3. I suspect the Centauro is more of an acquired taste that the V11 Sport. They are more similar than different..
  4. I'm not so sure of that. A Guzzi is definitely an acquired taste. It took me about 5K miles before I "bonded" with my Centauro. More than one have told me that they bought a Guzzi, and were riding home thinking, "What have I done??" After a period of acclimatization, it becomes, "They'll pry this Guzzi from my cold dead fingers.."
  5. It's either a corroded/loose connector at the neutral switch.. or the switch itself is flaky. Easy peasey to fix.
  6. Yep. Me, too..
  7. I believe Mr. Roper described it as "like two skeletons fornicating on a tin roof."
  8. Agreed. To the other questions, sure, the V11S will cruise at hyper legal speeds all day. They are *not* full on sport bikes, but very capable Sport touring bikes with as good of an engine "feel" as there is. If I were looking, I'd look for an Ohlins equipped bike. They don't bring that much more on the used market. That would be Scura, Rosso and Nero Corsa (LeMans fairing) Cafe sport, (I think) and Coppa Italia. I would put the Unbreakable Pawl Spring on either. Available from Scud.
  9. Turn it in the direction of normal rotation, clockwise, viewed from the front. Do the left (Snot dis side) first, turn the crank 270 degrees, do the right. (Dis side) Nothin to it.
  10. Unless it's changed, it's not SG rated oil, either. *Most* of the Redline oils are, though. If you have to choose between ratings, take the one that is SG over just being 10-60. There are a lot more cars than motorcycles that call for 10-60. The manufacturers are making car oil in that grade, with a few exceptions. The last I knew.. Mike Haven (MPH Cycles) had a few.
  11. ^^^^ Like Footgoose says.. the Mighty Scura was dyno tuned with a PC *many* years ago. It runs bitchin. I'll just leave it alone.
  12. Aaaaarg.. I just received this: Uh oh. That means someone paid for 2 and got one. For whatever reason, I had Rob down for 2. Who did I short change?? I'll get into this in the morning. We're having a dinner party tomorrow night, and I have to make a rib rub, and get the ribs prepped tonight.
  13. I wouldn't be the guy to tell you what to shake, Docc..
  14. Agreed. Redline is a true syn. Yeah, Agip, in particular, settles for whatever reason.
  15. ^^^^^ Unfortunately, the latest version of Motul doesn't have the SG rating either.
  16. Alrighty now.. an oil thread. Yes, you can go to a full synthetic. Use an SG rated oil or be prepared to add ZDDP to it. Mobil 1 motor sickle oil is good, and readily available. The latest spec from the mothership calls for 10-60 syn. I use that at around 10-12 bux a quart. I'm sure 15-50 or 20-50 is fine. I recently scored a ton of Silkolene 10-60 cheap. On the website, it said SG. On the bottle it says 4T (good) SM SN Jaso MA2. Ordered some ZDDP additive to go with it. Still cheap.
  17. Awesome. Thanks for the vicarious trip..
  18. Congratulations youngster.. enjoy. Since the neutral light is on, maybe it's the clutch switch?
  19. Thanks, KR.. more stuff for my Guzzi stuff file..
  20. Wow. Just checked paypal, and all but one have already paid. (!) Gotta love Guzzi guys..
  21. The latest batch of Lucky Phil Extenders (LPEs) are winging their way toward you as we speak. I'll email everyone with the cost plus shipping.. except Mark and TomC. I'll PM you. Delivery to the states is expected Saturday, 6/2. Overseas? Hard to say..but probably 1-2 weeks. Whew. That's over..it's beer o'clock.

    Rear Stand

    Nice poster, Docc..
  23. Remove the aft two relays, squirt some DeOxit in the bases, reinstall the relays, and wiggle them around. Might as well do it to all of them while you're at it.
  24. You can measure from the flat the sensor sits on to a tooth on the phonic wheel. Should have .030" clearance. I'm certainly no expert here, but as far as I know.. pressure = pressure. I *think* 40-45 PSI. Sure, if the screen is clogged it could hurt suction.
  25. I don't think that'll work..
