I understand that English isn't your first language, but I think what Docc is saying is to smell the oil and see if you can tell if it is engine oil or transmission oil. It is not uncommon for an engine breather hose to leak and get oil all over everything. A way to find out where it is leaking is to thoroughly degrease the area, and spray powdered athlete's foot medicine all over it. Make it white. Leaks will quickly show up.

Inability to disengage clutch after twin-disc conversion

As I've said before, Experience is a tough teacher. She gives you the test first... then the lesson. -
Thanks for that, Marty.. I'll give it a look. I'm thinking about upgrading the control, $$$$ but if I don't I'll have to get this crt working.

Thanks, Brian! Will do. Tomorrow.. just came in from s l o w l y running those extenders, and it's beer o'clock. I'll form them tomorrow, then bead blast and chromate. Should be able to ship early next week.

Thanks John.. but I can't complain. After all, it's been running for (gasp) 32 years without throwing the big bucks at it. It's been unsupported for 15. (buy the competition and close it down..) I've managed to keep the mechanical part going, but the electronics are increasingly unavailable.. the same thing as with a modern motorcycle (Guzzi content) I'm afraid. Unfortunately, I'm a parts changer when it comes to the electronics, certainly not good enough to troubleshoot and repair a failed component. At any rate, I'll keep plugging along today taking very light cuts with the feed rate turned down. With any luck, I can get this batch of extenders completed.

Uhh, are you talking 'Merican? I dunno what it is. It's a 1986 green/black whatever that I've replaced 3 times over the years. I'm *assuming* it's the card. The screen is still bright, but has *really* big numbers at the top and little bitty to mirror image letters at the bottom. I turned a trim pot all the way to make it sort of legible. There is a LCD replacement on Ebay for 15 hunnerd. There is also a guy on Ebay that sells cards, but they don't look anything like the one in the machine. There is an upgrade to change out everything including servos, ball screws, and electronics for 15 large. I may go that way instead of throwing money at this antique stuff. Today, the coolant thingy (technical term) quit, and the servos don't seem to have much power for whatever reason. Needless to say, I'm out of my league. I know enough to know what I don't know. I'm muddling along, trying to get these parts ran before shutting it off and getting into the box. I'm afraid if I shut it off it will be the last time..

Or not. The CRT on the CNC is tits up and the printer won't. Must have been a lightning strike that my uninterruptible power supply couldn't handle while we were in Arkansas playing.. One of the joys of running obsolete machinery, the guy that used to sell CRTs for these suckers is out of business.
-
Ok, we're back from Arkansas..awesome trip.. and I have Lucky Phil Extender blanks in hand. I told the water jet shop to just use up all the material I gave them, so I have extra blanks. If you want one, let me know. I'll start on them after I change out the check valve in the air compressor.

Yeah, I can see the use for an electric tap on a carb bike in case the float valve leaks. Injected? No.

I haven't looked, but would imagine Deves has rings.. cheap. They are the manufacturer. Harper's triples the price.

IIRC, the Kid did the Coke bottle trick on Lowryter's Greenie. It supposedly is fast..

True, but it *won't shut down the motorcycle* if the tach quits. I have a spare Veglia speedo and tach for just that occasion, though.
-
Can't hurt.. except for maybe leaving the power on the injector for too long.

Neutral light out, deploy side stand, bike stalls

As many times as I've had that thing apart.. you'd think I'd remember all about it. I *think* the pins the wheel ride on are just pressed into the casting. No need for a seal, if so. -

I have mine. Shouldn't need any more in my lifetime..

I thought I posted on this, but it must have gone to the ether.. What you *have* to do is keep the bezel from deforming. Because I could, I machined a cavity in some plastic I always have laying around and pushed it into it. Once that is done, you can carefully pry up the crimp a little bit at a time with something like a tack puller. You don't have to go all the way around. I have read of some successfully using a large hose clamp around the bezel to do the same thing, but have never tried that.
-
I'm looking forward to it, and I'll definitely buy you a beer, pal..

This all started when Lowryter was bad mouthing the Mighty Scura when the operator stupidly put the o ring on the wrong side of the shim on the phase sensor.. in a fit of brain fartage. With a 2000 rpm rev limiter, that Greenie *might* be able to keep up..

To anyone that's on the fence.. *assuming* the old hotel is the same as when I was there a few years ago, you (and your sweetie) will love it. Pix on the first page. Oh, yeah.. the riding is pretty good, too.
