  1. I am not sure how long they take, so it was probably just my typical overdoing things. Yep, that is what I did.
  2. I just bought a set of Marzocchi's off of eBay. The intent was to send those to Todd for rework and not take my bike out of service. The forks were from a 2001 Sport Rosso. I have a 2004 Ballabio. It looks like there was a significant change to the forks somewhere in between. The fork legs are the correct diameter so they will fit the triples, but the bottom ends are completely different and will not accept my axle. I saw one set screw that looked like it was holding the fork ends to the slider, that doesn't seem like enough. Are those things pressed on? Can I swap them after the forks are returned or did I just blow $200? Edit: Never mind. I just measured the slider, the 2001 are 40mm, I have 43mm sliders. Crap. Anyone need 40mm Marzocchis? New (to me) forks: Ballabio forks:
  3. It is a very sturdy piece. It is a pretty thick casting, not a sheet metal stamping like on most cars. If you were trying to lift a 1600kg car maybe it would have problems. I
  4. $33.35 Shipped. Not to downplay the seriousness on Mercury, but I remember playing with it when I was a kid, like rolling it around in my hand at grade school...might explain a lot of things.
  5. I need to stop reading this. I really want to build a K75 Turbo...
  6. I never had that happen in ten years of ownership. I heard others talk about it, but never saw it. Of course, I used the centerstand over night, but not when it was parked at work.
  7. droydx, This is, specifically, the FTDI chipped [OBD II > USB ] adapter cable? Could you post a link? I ordered one last week. Came in a jiff. London Electric Guzzi Diag Cables.
  8. Yeah, the K75 has a well deserved reputation as having a super smooth engine, but the sound is not particularly inspiring.
  9. I rode an 89 K75C for ten years. The only reason I sold it was boredom. It was a great bike, but I just wanted something different, SWMBO set a limit of one bike at a time. They have their quirks (like spline lubrication) but dead reliable otherwise. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a good reliable bike.
  10. Cable has been spoken for.
  11. I need a gambalunga style tank logo. Would you be willing to share the design?
  12. I should comment on how the new fairing affects the bike on the road. The airflow across my helmet is basically clean. It is much quieter this way than the previous bikini fairing, which caused serious turbulence right on my head. The only drawback is that I look through the windscreen down to the instruments. In some lighting conditions they can be difficult to read. Over all I am happy with the big picture but have some details still to sort out.
  13. X-Arc LED lamps from Hightechspeed. They are blindingly blight. I replaced the stock flasher relay with a generic LED flasher relay off eBay. I thought about going the route the red bike that inspired this went, and may still do that. Yeah. It's a fine line. The gold anodizing can really get away. The windshield bolts and the mirrors with the wheel stripes seem enough in the front. If I paint the rear I will get the "Azzuro Corsa" done in gold. Decsions, Decisions... I also play with the idea of just scrapping the rear and shortening it up with a single seat and moving the elex to where the airbox wouldn't be anymore. Plus, the alteration to the rear fender makes it rather difficult to remove, not impossible, just not fun. I need an extra joint in my fingers. So swapping back and forth would be non-trivial. Interesting idea. I need to think about that. I have an idea to paint the pork chops in the blue, but I don't know how well it would hold up. I have the same thought about the valve covers but I am reasonably sure the paint wouldn't like the high temp. Much easier to machine my own. Then I control all the dimensions. If I embed them in the triple I need very a specific O.D. And I need to control the fluid exit point. Those are VDOs that I put in when my ITI ODO bit the dust four years ago. I documented them here: Converting a Speedo to Electric Drive. I finally finished them when I cut up the instrument cover you sold me They have been flawless for over 200 hours since installed. Highly recommended.
  14. Thanks for the kind words. I wish I was a better photographer. The blue paint is really stunning in sun light. It is an Auto Air color called Nightmare Blue. It has great depths and a really sharp metallic sparkle to it. It shot really easily. It was the first time I had used Auto Air and I really like them. I go back and forth on whether or not to paint the rear section. Good eyes recognizing that the tail tidy is simply the original part cut down. There was quite a bit more engineering to get that idea to work and still be removable with the license plate there. I am still tinkering with the controls. I hate the urine sample cups and got an idea from a recent bike on BikeEXIF to bury them in the upper triple. I refinished the seat and grips with SEM Cordovan. It is a flexible aerosol coating I have used with good effect on a few other projects that does an excellent job with color changes on upholstery without breaking the bank. I did it to a seat on an old K75 that I rode for 25000 miles with no apparent wear.
  15. Docc, you're holding back. More info on this?
  16. I bought the OPT7 mention above. It fit inside the headlight bucket from my Ballabio. Works much better than the Sylvania bulb I had prior..
  17. Dang, now the pressure is really on. I promise to clean the bike and take decent (not good, but decent) pictures this Friday. I have just not bother to take the time while it is clean!
  18. I assume that's me too - but haven't checked in for a while. When I ordered he said he had recently shipped out 2 units. If I had my name in back then, I would have one in hand now. Anybody who actually wants one of these RAM units should place an order with MG Cycle - if they have a few backorders, it could spur another production run. Sneaking up on 8,000 miles on the Scura - it should go to 12,000. Meanwhile, I'm putting more miles on the LeMans. One of it's possible futures is as an organ-donor. Well, this post knocked me off the fence on a RAM. I just ordered form from MG Cycles. Christmas present. For 2016.
  19. BTW, is the title supposed to be Factory stand "FTW"?
  20. This thing is nothing. My old K75 looked like it was ready to tip over it leaned so far. All of us K bike guys had the same initial impression but I never heard of one failing. That said, it doesn't look that hard to fab up a steel replacement for it. Some thick walled 4130 tubing would do nicely. I expect there is a worldwide market of maybe two or even three...
  21. I noticed that. The stock component has a point, the original was flat. I did not file it down. It seems to seal just fine.
