  1. "Cool" passes from one generation to the next. I don't think the Stones or the Beatles will ever go out of style like Frank or Elvis, at least not in my lifetime. I think those bands were not only revolutionary but had enough self awareness and genuine quality that transcends style. They've had a hell of run, from the '64 and still going. Not perhaps at the very top anymore but still near the top of their game. The remaining Dead are able to reassemble and have relied upon a family of musicians and dedicated following.
  2. Yes, I think Hackney is the best Stones record since Tattoo You, although Stripped is really good but it's all legacy stuff. This record isn't in the category of the current big hits. I'm guessing the Stones fans are too old and the music isn't relating to the younger folk. But the music business is changed. The band rocks, they're really solid group, the songs are some gems. So for as what shows and where I'll go this year is a real question mark. At least I can say I've seen the Stones a few time. The last time in 10k seat indoor arena with a 2nd stage and walkway. Mick looked my in the eye every time he turned left, I was his visual stage mark. They played "Moonlight Mile", the only tour they ever played so far as I know. Did they open with Honky Tonk or Start Me Up? or?
  3. Paul, I might pick them up in Denver or St Louis. Maybe Memphis. Bev and I are considering Dead & Co at the Sphere and TTB in T-town. Talk about a logistics exercise. Hackney is the best new Stones studio in 40 years. Did Chanel sing "Sounds of Heaven, Sympathy, Shelter, or Can't Always Get"? All or some? Someone should post "Sweet Sounds of Heaven" here. Great Stones gospel.
  4. this lost me on the first 20 seconds, turned it off with "food on the table"
  5. SO many crashes late in the race. They mentioned weepers. So the track was drying out but the weepers were soaking through and couldn't be seen my the riders? That's awful. Seeing three bikes crash one after the other was pretty bad.
  6. Bartlesville is neat town. Price Tower (Frnk Lloyd Wright) and Phillip's ranch Woolarc come to mind.
  7. There's Coppo on BAT. $3500, no reserve and a spot at the Quail https://bringatrailer.com/listing/2004-moto-guzzi-coppa-italia-4/
  8. actually we traveled to Dallas and got an airBnb apartment across from Texas Stadium, about a mile from 6 Flags. We were worried about the weather. And more so, finding a venue since my wife is recovering from knee replacement. My youngest son ordered 6 Flag tickets on the drive down.
  9. The photo is just more a commemoration rather than an accurate portrayal of the experience. The appearance to the eye was a completely black dot with a bright narrow white ring around it. The ring was almost like round neon or fluorescent light. Totally bright white with sharp edges (no yellow). It got cool for perhaps a half hour as the sun was shadowed and it was dark enough that stars were visible. At full eclipse you could look at it with the naked eye, in fact you couldn't see with dark glasses regardless of the bright ring. This was my second try. I had gone to Kansas City in '17 and we got cloud cover that obscured totality. Finally got to see it this time in Dallas. The amusement park shot fireworks, played 2001 theme, the Floyd (Eclipse) and then 5th Dimension (Let the Sunshine In).
  10. My son took these with his phone. We went to 6 flags my other son's treat
