I contacted MDI Carbon and ordered one of these today ($71, currently 15% off) https://mdicarbonfiber.com/products/ducati-moto_guzzi_1100_sport-alternator-cover This piece was originally posted by Docc (merci!), but I couldn't find that post to tag onto. Appear to be good quality. I was told they are 6 -7 weeks from shipping as they are special order and the factory is currently closed for 2 weeks holiday. So if you were ever thinking about getting one, now may be the time as they're dusting off the old mold.

I'm sorry for your traumatic experience, could take years of therapy to put that behind you - especially if you find yourself shopping for dew rags online.
-
So you literally just spun it clockwise and it came out? Did you push or pull while turning? You didn't have to take anything else apart? Why did you have to remove it?
-
My OEM reset knob on my '03 LeMans is in place, but has become essentially useless for resetting the trip odo. I also just received my replacement from MG, but the OEM pin does not seem to want to come out. I tried turning it clockwise (as it's reported to be reverse threaded), and just spins without backing off. I then tried counter-clockwise with the same result. It appears that whatever it is screwed into is also just turning, but without engaging the numbers dial. I guess it's time to take it apart unless someone has a simpler solution.

I just hope one of our EU members buys this so we can hear all about it!

Just saw this listed on Facebook Guzzis for sale. Holy crap.
-
When you have a moment Andy, could you please take a more clear close-up photo? It's difficult to see where the zerk is. Thanks.
-
Thanks again - all 3 cables have been ordered!
-
Thanks Docc, yes that works. Now I'm looking for a working link to purchase the diagnostic cables. Thank you.
-
Hi Docc, Your links in your 1st post for Guzzidiag software and diagnostic cables don't seem to work anymore (they take you to the homepage). Can they be renewed, or could you please respond with where to locate those when you have a moment? Many thanks.

Removed a couple weeks ago from my 2003 Le Mans with only 15k miles on it. Works perfectly, selling because I upgraded to a Wilbers unit. $50 plus shipping to the lower 48.
-
Had a new Wilbers shock installed and fine tuned by Markbilt Racing (certified Ohlins Service Center). The shock was included with the purchase of my 03 LeMans. Rode 50 miles - nice improvement over the stock Sachs unit. The separate low and high-speed compression adjustments seem to make the most difference. It's much more compliant over bumps without losing overall proper firmness for cornering and heavy acceleration.

Well, they were open 3 weeks ago when I stopped in!
-
Would you happen to know if it fits all V11 variants?

A few days late, but wanted to report another successful 3-day 700 mile Catskill Mountains tour. Return home day 3 was moderate rain the whole way, but no issues whatsoever. Same goes for my friend's Duc. [emoji123]

Just got back from a 3 day 730 mile tour with friends in the Catskill Mountains. First tour for my 03 Le Mans, and happy to say she performed flawlessly - such a pleasure to ride on 50 - 80 mph sweepers!

Bottom line for me is it's more beautiful and desirable than almost any new bike available at any dealer showroom in the past 15+ years - period.

...just pulled my current plugs, they also measure .85 to .9mm (.035"). They look fine - good tan color. But that gap is 20-25% more than spec. Seems like a lot to me.
-
Just received a new pair of NGK BPR6ES, they have a 0.85mm gap. Dave Richardson (p. 145 Guzziology), lists 0.7mm for these plugs for the V11, but he also states "more gap is always better but only up to the limit of the coil's output". Anyone happen to know what that limit is?

New oil pressure switch arrived and installed, behold - red light with key on, and it goes out when engine is started. Thank God for little miracles (and knowledgeable friends on this forum!).
-
I agree, and always considered the two separate issues, unless related to cleaning the ground cables at the battery, which proved not the case for the oil pressure warning light. It was just convenient to work on both at the same time, with fairing removed, etc.
-
You are correct Lucky Phil and thank you. I should have done that first, but got side tracked with a number of the items that were related to the starter issue, mainly getting to the ignition and taking that apart. But thank you again for your help - much appreciated!

Many thanks Docc and gstallons! I'll let you know if the be switch solves the problem. Seems like it must be it.
