  1. Now lets talk about how each one of us would feel if rear ended by an autonomous vehicle. Or a loved one. Bring it home. I'll start, I would be pissed.

"Statistically safer" is subjective. May be, maybe not a stretch, but you all recall the 737 issues of a few years ago. A maneuvering system so smart even (apparently) at least two/4 pilots were outsmarted, killing a few hundred. Yes I know, lack of training was blamed. Tell it to the loved ones.

Just making the (my) point. Everything innovative, high tech and bloody awesome, doesn't always result in the best interests of 'some' of humanity. I for one don't want to be part of the experiment while they perfect their latest gadget.

When you read Kindoy's post and think 'that should not have happened' you were 100% correct.

EV's are fine*. AI is a potential disaster.

I will now claim age related autonomy :oldgit:

*much more to this. can't/wont speak to it.

I tried to find Shin-Etsu silicon grease from many different sources but was unsuccessful;it seems that Honda has a lock on the supply.

It's listed on Amazon & other places but apparently unavailable. It can be confusing because sometimes the product description has a photo of the tube & sometimes a photo of the box the tube comes in.

As per Docc's post & info above; I just placed a call to my local Honda Motorcycle/Auto Parts dealer, gave him the Honda part # 08798-9013 and had the grease within a couple of days.

  3. Hollywood has always been out of touch with the 'common' folk in society, and their depictions of such have always missed the mark, especially if they have a bone to pick with the segment portrayed. I hope this is not the case and it's just a gangster movie - with motorcycles. This looks good and I certainly look forward to seeing it (when it's free) for the story, the set, and those gorgeous vintage Harley's. Hoping for some trick riding scenes, and no agenda.

  4. Welcome. A couple quick thoughts..

Handling: I've owned both frame  lengths and can attest to the short/red frame handles considerably better. That said, it no longer interests me to push my limits on tight twisty roads, and the later long frame is great for me. I found no twitch or unsettling handling aspects with my red frame.

Staintune 'alleges' no tuning necessary when using their cans. IDK for sure. I do know you'll eventually want a more open can.

Electric gremlins are a concern but easily sorted once found. As with any 22 y/o bike, how it has been stored would be a top concern for myself if I were looking. Weak and deteriorating connections are negatively impacted by corrosion, and I would avoid a 'crusty, rusty, left outside' example. Even with a good clean find, I'd recommend attending to every connection.

The Roper, or slosh plate is a small investment with a potentially large payoff. Just get one.

    Green is good.:P

  5. I rather like the black CF mud guard Phil. This bike pictured with blacked side body panels and muffler hangers has a good look, and could maybe provide some 'black' balance.

Whatever you do your bike will be like a woman who could wear anything and always be beautiful.

  6. I got one of the last 3 that MGCycles offered. Scud, myself, and (forgot who* else) got on a wait list and eventually received them.

The GU01211640 hub came with the kit, as seen in the photo. It is the same as the oem in the Tenni. I re-used the original.

    * might have been @craigsinclair  that got the other one?

I recall a member doing the 5 speed RAM kit successfully and posting about it.  ??

Isn't the V11 single plate clutch input hub (Scura/Tenni/Rsoso Mandello) already just that?

Pretty sure this is the hub that mates the RAM unit to the V11 6speed . . .

    (I'll look, again, for a reference to that . . .)

I'll say it again. Use the hub from the Scura.

  8. If this is the hub you got from MG it IS for a 6 speed but for use or conversion to a dual plate assembly.

The RAM assembly that is sold for a 5 speed is intended to convert the std dual plate assembly to the lighter single. So it would include the hub and cup to accommodate the 5 speed actuating rod, which differs in diameter and (maybe) length to the one in your Scura. Confused? Me too :huh2:

  9. The clutch hub you need is GU01211640. This is the hub that came with the RAM kit for 6 spds, which was discontinued because they ran out of oem hubs and couldn't source them (we think).

That hub was already used in oem Scura/Tenni assemblies, so use the one from your Scura. I think (but not sure) the one MG sold you was for a 5 spd.

What I am unsure of in your case is the actuating rod length and it's compatibility with the spring actuating cup. Pretty sure the Scura rod and cup will work.

I purchased one of the last RAM 6 spd kits and the GU01211640 hub came with it.
