  1. HA - my Scura also starts with ZGUKR. I got the same "error" message.
  2. I saw it. It happened. So did this: SP - it would be cool if you could write up the master cylinder replacement for our burgeoning encyclopedia. I bet people (self included) would be interested in your gas cap too.
  3. Well said. Sounds like you found yourself a keeper. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. THE blues. Chicago style. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. I'll keep a lookout for strangeness and try to grab a photo. I sometimes enjoy how a sign in one place can be misinterpreted by a visitor. My first time in Singapore I was entertained by the signs that promised a "SLOW HUMP AHEAD" They were warning about "speed-bumps" but I had other ideas.
  6. So much for the hidden color code theory. And my 2000 greenie's 9th digit is 6.
  7. Gotta get some other stuff at the same time then. I recently bought a copy of Guzziology from Moto International - and Dave Richardson signed it for me. It wouldn't cost any extra to toss a couple bolts in with the book. How are your throttle body boots? Any cracks? How about a spare set of rocker cover gaskets? See.. now we're saving by consolidating our needs into one package.
  8. $2.00 at Harpers. Parts 34 and 35 in this diagram. http://www.harpermoto.com/parts-by-motorcycle/1990-2000-moto-guzzi-motorcycles/v-11-sport-mandello-1100-1999-2001/foot-rests-lateral-stand-en-v11-sport-mandello.html
  9. Only 1,700 miles for me. For comparison... Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Vancouver Canada are both hundreds of miles closer to San Diego. So thats another "maybe." I guess I should start thinking about some sort of San Diego county beach/mountain/desert spine raid.
  10. I wish I could un-see that. Now Docc's new Greenie on the other hand... that's kind of fun. Out of curiosity, can the original paint color be determined from the VIN or anything else? Or, would it possible to simply re-paint a black or silver sport as a Greenie and no-one would know what color it was originally.
  11. Do that. Someone else with more electrickle knowledge can probably explain it better, but as I understand it, that long thin wire can overheat anytime another ground gets loose or corroded. Then it torches the loom. The supplemental ground keeps the bike running when it would otherwise possibly break down.
  12. I'll bet Chuck's one-dollar bill that's the stock ground wire. If you add a supplemental ground, you can attach it there and then to timing chest or other grounding point. The stock wire is in the loom - and if it overheats, it can do bad things. The supplemental ground gives you cheap "fire insurance."
  13. Looks like a great time. I enjoyed that event last year on my Scura - though I could only make the Friday evening. Had hoped to go this year but that didn't work out. Maybe we can get two Scuras there next year.
  14. I just got some paint and was thinking about opening those on purpose to paint the needles orange again. This thread might help you too: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16407&hl=%2Bveglia+%2Brepair
  15. There are hardly any specs in the manual where I would want them. Instead, there's a single page, pretty early in the manual, with torque specs. It has maybe 20-30 specific specs, such as cylinder head nuts and alternator shaft nut. At the bottom it gives specs for bolts of various sizes, like M6, M10, etc. FWIW - I printed an extra copy of that page and keep it in the folder of my shop manual. Here's a shop manual printing shortcut: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=19504
  16. Those look great. I really like the kph inner ring on the speedo with the red 100. And it must be refreshing to have two orange needles.

The LH exhaust was on the ground, correct? If so, it may have nudged the whole assembly out of alignment a bit (but as footgoose noted, correct alignment is not symmetrical). You could loosen all the exhaust clamps and see if the exhaust wants to shift back to the left a little. You could also remove the bolts that attach the LH hanger to the frame tab - to see if they are still straight.
  18. Haha... the manual can be vague... I think it's referring to a little hex thing that comes with the tool kit - then you're supposed to put a box-end wrench or socket on the hex thing. A proper hex wrench, as you have there, is much better - works for the rear axle too. Consider adding an angled valve stem when you change the tire - makes checking pressure and adding air much easier. That little mushroom-capped bolt on the side-stand typically bends if the bike goes down on the left. It should have a lock-nut as well (see parts diagram).
  19. Rather than getting new carbon side covers, you can just run with a naked airbox. It lets you see a little more frame and rear spring. Removing stuff is as cheap as it gets... Another cheap mod: spray-tint the turn signal lenses - and a very light coat on the taillight if you want to subdue it a bit without losing visibility.
  20. Wow... we all just missed an opportunity by a few weeks here. SwooshDave could have ridden that from Washington to SF Bay area. Made the delivery and then picked up his Greenie. Whenever you do get it you will ask yourself: "Why did I wait so long for this motorcycle?"
  21. Hmm... is the attitude from the Scura fairing overpowering the Greenie attitude? Carbon side covers now.... but what's next? I think the exhaust hangers and the rear brake master cylinder cover should be black - you can try that in photoshop. The red covers are nice. I would try to match the red on the frame and porkchop. If your alternator cover is beat up from rocks, you could give it a coat of red along with the rocker covers.

Grease the pin and start it into the peg. Then put the spring in place, use a small drift or screwdriver to press the spring in and align it to the pin while you tap the pin through.
