Personally I think it looks better all silver. If you're anxious about being able to see the lights maybe you could put a little electrical tape in the holes around the lights. If that helps you see better you could then mask and paint jus inside the holes. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That's the spirit. What are you doing to the Honda 750? Do you ride the Suzuki a lot? Those things are nearly indestructible. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -
My Scura and I think most of the 2002 bikes had carbon fiber dash panels. My 2003 LeMans had a black painted dash and light cover. I had both prices powdercoated flat black. Also went with black faces. You can find pics in the "Installing Speedhut..." thread. Warning: darkening is contagious. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Do I get extra points because that building behind it houses the Spruce Goose? Get it, Goose! You get a Goose IPA. Must be present to win. So the Spruce Goose in Oregon now? I saw it when it was in Long Beach Harbor, next to the Queen Mary.

What are the symptoms Docc?

LOVE IT. I was trying to figure out the significance of the photo with the plane in the background. 10 Greenie Attitude points for the gentleman from Oregon.

80 miles for dinner. I'm running my LeMans without the side covers. They were black and I don't miss them. I like the side covers on the Greenie, but a starter cover that matches the engine color would look better (just my opinion) - or a dark grey, not black.

I just put Dunlop Roadsmart 3 on my LeMans. I'm quite pleased with the tires, and they seem to be trying to compete with the PR4. I've only had it in some wet corners, not full-on rain. Lot of people here are running Pirelli Angel GTs, I like those too, but I think the new Dunlops might be a bit better - the sidewalls sure are strong. I've run lots of mismatched branded tires on front and rear. I don't think it's worth worrying about - so long as your not running something silly like an ADV-knobby tire up front and a track tire in back.

Chuck - I don't think your dollar is at risk, so you can rest easy. The triple clamps are the same for the Ohlins and the Zooks. To show the function of the nut, think about assembling after lubing the steering bearings: Lube steering bearings Tighten bearings with large thin adjusting nut Install top triple clamp Use the chrome nut (the one that bbolez removed) to jam the triple onto the adjusting nut Then tighten the pinch bolt on the top triple clamp
-
I'd hate to assume that nut is decorative - and then find out that it's not. It seems to me that it might have a clamping, or locking, function to prevent things from loosening up. Obviously, the plastic insert is decorative, but even that prevents water from getting into the steering stem.

I think I'm gonna rename my garage Goose Island. Here's a tip on installing a Roper Plate - use two extra long screws to keep all 4 layers aligned. Then hang it from the block, push it up and put in all the other bolts. And nothing says "I bloody well give a shit" like a Roper line:
-
Plates arrived today. I can sell them for US $115, including USPS flat-rate shipping inside the US and the "free" $50 insurance. But I need to go away on business travel and can't ship until April 27th. On a related note - it looks like MikeHaven has some plates available for immediate delivery (or maybe even pickup in the Houston area). Mike - I only "know" you from some posts on Wild Guzzi. But it sounds like things didn't end well at MPH. I can sit on a few plates for a while without worrying about it - so this is not "butting in" at all. Maybe you should start another thread and let us all know what sort of parts you have leftover that would fit the V11 bikes.

Oil pressure during cranking (first start jitters!)
Scud replied to Craig's topic in Technical Topics
Did you do this already? What about pouring oil in the oil pressure sender hole to help prime the system? -
I didn't get the dimmer. Sorry I can't help there, but I recall their other documentation being quite good - and their technicians very helpful on the phone.

I've moved back to standard gear oil because memories of that gearbox wake me up at night..... but I'm still running the heavy in the final drives. However, it seems that lots of people run the Heavy Shockproof and are happy with it. Here, Shiny Mike, is what we are talking about and what I hope you never have to see: The blood pudding came from sitting through several winters. My bikes don't sit and they don't "winter." -
Docc - if you go back to the first few pages you can see where I was struggling with same issue. Here's a pic of the way it's been tucked up between gauge pod and the fixed LeMans fairing - and everything's been working great. I think two gauges behind a fairing that moves with the gauges should allow a cleaner installation than mine. I'm not thrilled with the excess wires I had to stash back there, but I installed four gauges. I taped the inverter to the harness, outside of the gauge cups. I used one inverter to power 4 gauges, but I noticed that it has a different part number sticker than yours. I wonder if one inverter would do the job? And Speedhut should have cut that GPS cable to your specs. If you don't have time to send it back, maybe an electronics shop could do it for you.

Nobles - what an excellent scouting report for our new guy. Whatever's leaking around the tranny doesn't appear to be too bad. The exhaust crossover looks pretty clean - not covered with burned oil. A good cleaning and monitoring will tell the tale - and I've seen some reports of tranny leaks being "cured" by running Redline Heavy instead of the standard gear oil. -
It's a whole lotta little wires. But you can do it. What's so slippery? You thinking about adding the Go-Winkie to the dash... or installing a fish-finder to go with your marine grade electronics? You'll just need a new place to hold that beer. And what's with the tease? Not showing us the faces?

The rack comes with longer bolts, but they won't interfere with anything if you leave them on. If you might re-install the rack, leave the long bolts on. If you think you're going to sell the rack, go find some shorter bolts so you can include the mounting hardware. She looks in great condition. How was that area of concern on the paint on the tank?

I organized the garage and started thinking about how I might entertain myself when the Champagne project is finished. http://i1128.photobucket.com/albums/m492/timscudder/Champagne%20LeMans/IMG_6015.jpg

Right - because that's how much they paid for sales tax and saddlebags when they bought their BMWs.

Hey Mike - I just checked out the ad. Looks like a great bike for a fair price - especially if the dealer has done all the fluids and given it a good overall inspection, fresh tires, etc. The bar-end mirrors are aftermarket, but I think that's a plus. It looks like it's been down at low speed on the right - you can see a little roughness on the leading edge of the RH exhaust can. So take a look for other abrasions on the right. I wouldn't be surprised if the bar-end mirrors were installed after the tip - if the stock bar-end was damaged. The only two problems you might anticipate after a few miles are the failure of the ITI gauges and a potential exhaust leak at the front crossover. These problems might not show up for you, but if they do, the gauges are replaceable with cooler ones - and you can occasionally look for a set of headers (no crossover) from a 2002 V11 to hold in reserve in case you ever have a problem. -
FZR400 - I rode one of those a few times. Amazing handling... but a shade lighter than a V11. I like the tires a bit firmer than recommended - about 35 PSI front and 40 rear. Your trip looks like a good time. The Bigfoot stuff was funny - and the Oregon coast... wow. And most road trips in California can be enhanced by a stop and In-N-Out Burger.
