Yeah, H-D really shanked an opportunity in the weeds with the Livewire. But I think the demographic probably supports this style over the crotch rocket or cruiser. If you watched the video they made a few different claims and hints. 1. It can go where other bikes can’t(w noise restrictions as it produces almost none) 2. You can “throttle” the power delivery to 40hp for trail use. 3. 674ftlbs of torque, 274lbs fully charged or empty 4.$12,900 5. Order one before they sell out, just like the motocross version that sold out. Edited October 20 by Joe 1
Gmc28 Posted October 21 Posted October 21 oh my, they've added some zing to their lineup from when i last viewed what they had. The missus wants one, but as you pointed out they're not giving these things away cheap. Even the higher end electric mountain bikes are brutal on the wallet. But I did love the e-mountain bike i rode over in Courmayeur, it was a hoot. Not in the same shape I used to be in, though even then I wasn't peddling straight up ski slopes in the summer, but that GasGas e-mtn bike made it still a workout but totally doable, and a lot of fun. then from the top they've got the downhill mtn bike course you can jump into. Good livin'. Godzone country? I'm out of touch. looks like the Zero's were made in Cali, then moved the X-line to phillipines and china, while the HQ moved to netherlands? 2

Hey G, I have to second the high level of fun to be had on a GasGas ebike, even (or especially) for a 70 yr old beginner. I traded my Royal Enfield straight across for a Trail 3.0, great way to have some fun while getting some fresh air and exercise! 3

Like some others, the e-mountain bike thing at first annoyed me. For one, they were expensive, and if looking to work out my opinion was "then just peddle", or if you want to go fast then get a "real motorcycle", and... having "less fit" bikers go smoking by me on their e-bikes before I knew what they were was hard on my delicate ego :-> But now i'm over all that and am all in. Takes me a while sometimes. Now just figuring out when to cough up the money to get one. I'm jealous 3

I'm jealous Ha I don't have to worry about offending other cyclists cuz I'm still the slowest guy, not that I encounter many people on my mid-week rides. One old fart hiking thought it was cheating, apparently unaware you can reduce the "assist" to feel the level of burn you want. Far more people are positive and/or curious about the bike and are contemplating buying one for themselves. 2

I had understood it that they are still in the U.S.A. Right down the bottom of the Zero Website there is this: Quote 2025 Copyright Zero Motorcycles, Inc. The "Inc." indicates that the seat of the company is at least in an English speaking country. I believe, but am not sure, that Inc. is predominately a U.S. American form. In Australia, for instance, it is, if I remember rightly, generally Pty.Ltd. (Proprietary Limited). If the the seat were in the Netherlands, I believe it would be a different form. This seems to support that: https://business.gov.nl/running-your-business/legal-forms-and-governance/business-structures-in-the-netherlands-overview/ But having said that, I am going by what I found in the Interweb through a fairly quick search. I don't know for sure. Edited October 21 by audiomick 1

My "little" brother lives in Durango, a biking mecca and crawling with world class off and on road bikers, and lots of them now have an e-bike, or so my brother says. speaking of ride modes, in France last month the hotel we were at had nice e-bikes available to take, but when i went to grab one to visit a champagne maker further down in the village, the super nice proprietor lady said "mais non..." because the batteries were all on the charger and not ready yet. "i'll be fine, its only a couple miles", and off i went. the return to the hotel was all up-hill, of course, and that "townie" e-bike cruiser without juice, and weighing a bloody ton, was quite the pig to peddle back! came back all sweaty, and trying not to look out of breath in front of the lady who advised me not to go... 3

I had the "reverse" experience. A few years back, my girlfriend and I went to the island Fehmarn on the Baltic Sea for a holiday. She, although not an enthusiastic cyclist, is prone to suddenly wanting to go on long bicycle tours on holidays, and was determined to rent bicycles there and go exploring. I have had phases during which I was riding bicycles a lot, but at the time I was quite out of practise, so I insisted on getting e-bikes. Some friends of ours were on the island at the same time, and one day we went to visit them where they were camping. This is the trip we did, maybe not the exact route, but close. https://www.openstreetmap.org/directions?engine=fossgis_valhalla_bicycle&route=54.43414%2C11.240859%3B54.453811%2C11.007131#map=12/54.4477/11.1252 You get the gist: 20 odd kilometres almost dead straight west. Into a roaring west wind, temperature about 33°C. I was very glad that the batteries held out. If they hadn't, I don't think I would have made the distance. 2

Yes I was shocked at the effort required after I forget to power up after a break or by hitting the 20mph speed limit. Feels like dropping a boat anchor while simultaneously having 2 flat tires. 2 2
