What's left

Lard is not classified as oil. My Dad told me that my Granddad once used a strip of hog hide as a rod bearing in his tractor motor for the weeks it took for a new bearing to arrive. Man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

40 years ago I knew an old guy, who had Model T Fords. He said 'his OGs' used to talk about using leather belts for rod bearings when they couldn't acquire or afford replacing the babbit.

Reason I mention mica is that it is used in reloading metallic cartridges. It is brushed inside of case necks before an expander plug is drawn through them.

Another possibility is Poxylube, which was recommended by Medeco, a maker of high security key-operated locks.
