We have a Honda plant, a Nissan plant, a Toyota plant and the usual creaking US multinationals. The Joe "Prince of Darkness" Lucas is long gone.... Unless you just emerged from your nuclear bunker in the Ozarks you should know that! Incidentally, the US motor industry should be reclassified on the Dow. GM's biggest business is investment management for pension and medical insurance. Car making is just an aside to fund social welfare for unionized US autoworkers, ex-autoworkers, autoworkers families and ex-autoworkers families. Socialism eh! maybe the commies beat ya after all! Guzzirider Posted October 6, 2005 Share Posted October 6, 2005 Well all the big UK car manufacturers have gone but we still do well with small niche manufacturers- Morgan, TVR, Caterham, Noble, Ariel, AC, Marcos, Westfield etc. We are better at producing eccentric sports cars than making mass produced stuff. TVR is the biggest and most successful- and they have bought Benelli and will start producing bikes soon too. Noble make bloody good sports cars too and they are well built. Yea..Why should workers in the 1st world countries be treated any different than in third world countries Oh... then we'd be third world countries too....No Middle class. It's an exquisite balance... I'm kinda proud a man that put in 40yrs, making GM or Ford plenty of money can put his feet up and do a little fishing in his golden years in my country. And if the whole overhanging welfare cost causes GM and Ford to go to the wall who benefits then. This is exactly what killed Soviet Russia. A whole country went to the wall. He says there is no comparison between the two and he's no sorry he bought the Buell. I rather like it, but can't stay on it more than 15 minutes due to spinal agony. His has the race kit. My V11 has the stucchi, cans, pods, and pcIII. The v11 is nearly as fast to about 80, and then pulls away strongly. The Buell seems a bit quicker out of the corners, but the goose handles sooo much better and can be ridden more smoothly than the XB. Maybe it's just me. Other than my tune issues (finally sorted), the goose is so much more reliablethan the XB. My poor buddy has been stranded on so many occasions he is afraid to ride alone. Although he's a bit of a careful rider, the last two wheelies cost him a new drive belt. Both times. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
