  3. I don't know of anything practical on these things. I would like to know what you use a 3/8' wrench on ... many thanks

  4. Thanks to all for suggestions; in the interest of doing what's necessary, but nothing more....elegance beckons. And in keeping with Kiwi tradition, the verbal synopsis manages to turn that elegance inside out. No way no how would I still own this bike without this board.

  5. When I sketched this out it was not with Startus Interuptus in mind, it was merely to show how you can test most of the wiring from under the seat because all of the switches terminate at a fuse or relay contact. It was drawn from a 2001 VII Sport that never had a starting issue because Fuse 5 is fed directly from the battery. In Note 6 I had noticed something strange about the starter solenoid, by Ohms Law 12/0.3 should result in a current of 40 Amps, instead I measured 6 however this was after the inrush which was well over 30 Amps as I proved later when I discovered two coils in the solenoid. Getting back to Vuzzzi's modified sketch and GStallons extra relay, yes that will work for sure. The later bike will have the Start relay through the ignition switch so the original relay has a weak supply The fuse IMHO should be in the wire to 30 Having said all this you should still clean your ignition switch every 5 years or so otherwise it gets so bad it starts to cause the ECU to drop out

  6. Or , we could swap out front forks . Those Ohlins just don't cut it for the stealth look . I could tolerate the gold look !

  7. Looking nice + dark.... apart from those dreadfully garish fork tubes of course. I suggest you break out the teeny tin of Humbrol (tm) gloss black and set to!

  10. Umm, I bought another one. The good friend who sold me his champagne lemans, dropped a few hints that he thought he may want it back. That was sort of our deal, where he got my beloved cagiva Gran Canyon and I got his beloved V11. But swapping back someday was a protected option. I’m always looking at what’s out there for sale, being a typical Motörhead, and found a nice looking V11 in OK (from David, who I think is on this forum). Has the dropped foot pegs, which intrigues me, and some of the other common-good mods, but I’ll likely pick up a mistral crossover, and a couple other odds and ends this winter for it. First, a long ride back from OK to OR to be figured... My buddy who’s getting his champagne lemans back from me has volunteered for some or all of the ride. I love a good buy-and-ride, but the V11 is slightly tortuous for my 6’3”+ frame (and a messed up shoulder, etc), so am spooked by the thought of 30+ hrs of riding it. We’ll see how it plays out. I’ve done that ride, more or less, a few times over the years, and have always had a great time, just barely beating the jaws of mother nature’s season change in October (week before was 70’s, in the 50-60’s for me, then rain and cold the week after I went through). Will see how this goes.

  11. Let's not be too quick to dismiss Moto Guzzi's methods here... all the "limited edition" models had their names printed on the side panel badge-stickers, such as Scura. The faired LeMans models said LeMans, and many of the sport models said V11 Sport. I don't know about the year-by year variations, or which models got only the checkered pattern, but there is definitely a consistent pattern in the labeling of the side panels. There are lots of colors available as well... and some are carbon fiber.

  12. I'm definitely no sparky, but if I were going to add another relay, I'd make it the starter relay. Fused feed to 30, trigger it with the solenoid wire, and run a 16 gauge wire to the solenoid. KR will be along shortly to tell me why that won't work.

  13. Hello folks! Here’s Mizz Greenie. My second Guzzi, and my first bike after 24 years hiatus. Besides Halycon bar-end mirrors and Mistral(?) mufflers with nice and deep sound, the bike is in stock condition. The winter is coming, so I have plans for some tuning and customization. Not radical changes, just one step at a time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
