  1. I'm sorry for your traumatic experience, could take years of therapy to put that behind you - especially if you find yourself shopping for dew rags online. I read this today in a local SF forum... "My dad used to own a Buell, until one day when he accidentally left his garage open overnight. Now he owns three".

  2. I got a lot of stick on WildGoose for saying the Daytona front forks were nigh on useless. It was a shame and a huge mistake by Guzzi to intorduce a new frame design with crap forks. I'm sure a lot of people thought the frame was at fault. Of course in typical Guzzi fashion, the stable door was closed, they were replaced with WP units, long after the horse had bolted. Anyway, when the BEARS racing was happening the few brave enough to enter a Guzzi Daytona, usually changed to GSXR forks, it's a road that's been well travelled and repeated by many owners, I'm ASS-uming the Sporti wears the same or similar front end. Personally I never tried it, as at time I never had the cash

  3. I hope you have better luck than I did, I ordered one from them 4 months ago..after a lot of drama it finally arrived last week and the Carbon looked nice but the indent where the eagle logo goes was totally off center and crooked..I told them I wanted my money back and returned it..that was about 10 days ago...I have not heard anything from tthem yet. Good luck to ya though..I bought several things from MDI for my Aprilia's in years past..and it was fine...but they were located in Georgia then, not San Diego.

  7. Yes but the outer sections are very thin and to get enough torque to stretch a steel 6mm screw so it doesn't loosen will probably be too much for them after a while esp if the faces aren't dead square. Aluminium screws are also good for this stuff as they are a bit elastic for their dia but strong enough for unloaded covers. Ciao

  8. As mentioned a while back it's wise to be careful with the mount screws. I suggest a dab of Loctite Nut lock and a "just snug" tightening. The mounts don't have aluminium inserts like high quality stuff but it should be ok as it's only a simple unstressed cover. I'd also put it on a glass plate or surface plate and make sure its flat and use some wet and try to flatten it if its not. If it's too far out then glue some shimming washers on the low mounts so it doesn't distort when you bolt it up. Ciao

  10. Greetings, A friend bought a Bellagio and wants to add Ohlins shock and forks. I own an Aprilia Tuono and was wondering if the Ohlins on Aprilia is compatible, or if anyone has experience doing so. I realize the MG Ohlins shock utilizes a remote reservoir, but perhaps a newer piggyback style can fit? Ohlins Aprilia forks need a 51mm top and 53mm bottom yoke, so also wondering if Aprilia yokes can be used. If not, he'll just have to find the used MG specific units. Thanks for any information.

  11. In the firearms collector world, there are innumerable scams that have cribbed a pic off the web and posted an ad. If they respond, it is clear that their command of English is poor and that they simply want your money. The lack of a response speaks volumes.

  14. Did not get the multimeter out as I did not intend to remove these connectors, but I did follow them. The small one indeed goes to the unused button on my steering damper bracket, of which I took a picture for your entertainment: The other one goes into the loom as well as to either relay one or two. So it is fairly clear to me this indeed was a connection for an alarm, which has been disconnected. I suspect the two yellow wire bridges are the actual connections the alarm electronics would make when deactivated. I think I will leave it as is, since my bike is running fine. Or do you guys disagree? To entertain you guys again, I have a small riddle for you. What is strange on my rear tire, except for the fact it is almost worn?

  15. IIRC, @GuzziMoto blocked one of the bypass holes (lower one, I forget?). I see this set of Gallery images by @Drewteague where he blocked both:

  16. I would fab up a pair of .30 cal air-cooled MG barrels to poke out the front. Air cooled. MG. It all fits.

  18. Ended up being rather (Aer)Macchi . . . not really what I started after, just what it became. Not for everyone. Clear-coated what would not strip to the wire wheel . . .

  19. You could powder coat it and spray clear over it with "flex" mixed in to avoid rock chips. That requires a mixable 2K paint, however. Much cheaper and garage doable is 3M Paint Defender, an aerosol clearcoat that sprays on thick and protects from rock chips. Lasts about one year on cars and can be peeled off and re-sprayed as needed.

  21. Then add a Gambalunga badge from @sp838 ? https://www.shapeways.com/product/ABDSPQG9A/gambalunga-badges-both-no-steel?optionId=23113230&li=shopshttps://www.shapeways.com/product/ABDSPQG9A/gambalunga-badges-both-no-steel?optionId=23113230&li=shops [sp838 offers "DeTomaso" eagles, too. Yet the V11 was built after the DeTomaso era while the original V11 Sport was "drawn after the Gambalunghino" according to the designer: Luciano Marabese. This Gambalunga/Gambalunghino emblem (c. 1949) will always be proper for the Marabese designed V11 Sport.]

  22. Wow, what a delight! That is awesome. Makes me feel better about what my own bass has evolved into. Sheehan's bass, "The Wife," totally reminds me of my Sport. Might even be some hidden "hotel room repairs" . . .

  26. There should be plenty half dismantled old T3 availlable around with bashed body work etc, better resucitated into a Café than left to rot and waiting for the scrap yard. Anyway you dont need any bodywork or wheels if they are cast. Also,You will find plenty low mileage ugly ex police T5 in Italy for E3000 or there about ,you can swap the barrels for new 940 Gilardonis round fins and get Le Mans heads. Good Luck from Cork, Ireland (Pics are before and after)
