I used a small hand pump to prime my bike after the sump was off for weeks. I didn't know if it had lost prime, but I thought it wouldn't do any harm. As Phil suggested, I pumped oil into the pick-up tube which pokes down into the sump screen.

During a visit to a wrecking yard, I noticed that some Toyota cars had Denso relays the same size as the V11, so I added them to the cart. I will try them and report back. I expect good things, as Denso is a good brand, and a car electrical system is at least as demanding as a bike.

I made up some tools and took measurements to modify these taps easily, so if anyone locally wants their tap modified, I can do it. @cash1000has my first attempt at the @Lucky Philmodification on his bike, and he tells me that his bike hasn't caught fire. He left me a fist-full of the o-rings recommended by Phil. I must get on and do my own bike.

I found the bolt threaded too much on my bike as well. The lever inner bush was riding on threads, so was quite worn. I fitted a new bolt with more plain shank. I'm guessing that is a Ventura rack on your bike. Dold Industries (manufacturer of Ventura Luggage Racks) is in Hamilton, just down the road from you. Good suggestions there. An electric heat gun can slowly heat the pan to 100-120°C without causing any damage. Remember that it gets to that temperature normally on a hot day in slow traffic. An infrared thermometer lets you check. It will take a while,as the castings are very thermally conductive, so you will be heating the crank case too. The heat softens most sealants and glues. Then gradual force from wood or plastic wedges can progressively open gaps for more wedges. BTW, thanks @docc for keeping this forum from going toxic. The world needs good moderators.

You could make one from a V11 Hub GU01335230. It would involve some cutting and machining, but the MGS01 uses the V11 bevel box.

How bad is the drag? Is the bike unrideable, or just tricky to get going? I wonder if things will get better as the new plate wears a little, and beds into the flywheel.

True, but as I see it, the electrical part of the switch is attached to the key part with 2 screws. If @billgreenman1 only wants the electrical part, it might be a good option. Oh wait, I see a crack in the black plastic housing. It might not be a good idea.

I have a LiFePO4 type Shorai battery in my bike. For cold starting, they say: "If starting at 5°C, headlights on for 30 seconds will help wake the battery and increase cranking performance. If at -17°C, leave the lights on for 4~5 minutes before cranking. The result will be a better first crank, and longer battery life. If the engine fails to start on first crank, that first crank has warmed the battery, and the second attempt will be much stronger." So Phil makes a good point. The Shorai LFX21L6-BS12 cranks my V11 well.

While we are looking at the gearbox selector mechanism, here is a reminder of some collected wisdom about the selector pawl arm and its troublesome spring.
