Yup. Warbirds Over Wanaka Airshow includes this iconic WWII fighter-bomber aircraft. It is ex-RNZAF de Havilland DH98 Mosquito NZ2308.
  2. Here's a link to a picture I posted of my gearbox in neutral before fitting the cover : https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/20201-re-engineering-the-shift-spring/?do=findComment&comment=272756
  3. See repair/overhaul advice here: http://www.largiader.com/tech/valeo/ http://bmwmotorcycletech.info/boschvaleostarter.htm http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/valeo-starter-refresh.954653/ You could also search this site for "valeo". You are not the first guzzi owner to have have starter problems.
  4. Yes, I did that too. I got some genuine oil resistant hose, and found that it was too stiff to install. So the hose is used for coupling a sharp s/steel elbow at the front and a bent up aluminum tube further back. It works well and the uglyness is well hidden.
  5. Nah mate, I bought one for my bike based on your recommendation. I just didn't say thanks. So thanks.
  6. Just for an experiment, can you try reducing your spark plug gaps? I have seen healthy fat blue sparks on removed plugs, but no fire when fitted. Compression pressure can be high enough to prevent a spark jumping the gap. The higher the air pressure at the plug, and the larger the plug gap, the higher the voltage needed to spark. Maybe the new gaskets have raised the compression pressure? I've seen a 1909 Fairbanks Morse engine run with a plug gap of 0.15mm (0.006"), but not with 0.63mm (0.025"). The weak spark from the magneto sparked a 0.6mm plug gap fine when removed. A V11 runs well with a spark plug gap of 0.7mm (0.028"), with 9.8:1 CR, because the factory electronic ignition delivers high voltage with high energy to each plug. Nippon Denso has some basic information on plug gap and compression pressure: Conditions that affect the discharge voltage | Spark and Ignition | Basic Knowledge | SPARK PLUG | Automotive Service Parts and Accessories | DENSO Global Website
  7. Retorquing the heads alone shouldn't stop it from running. Could the ignition timing slip somehow? Does it have points needing adjustment and tightening? Or does it have a sensor that has picked up some metal particles?
  8. Crankcase pressure is always more than ambient due to piston ring blowby, however slight. This is unavoidable on all piston engines unless you have an unusual feature like a scavenge pump. For this reason, crankcase pressure will slowly build until it finds an escape path. If you block the vent going to the airbox, the pressure will rise until it relieves somewhere else, possibly showing as an oil leak. I don't think you should block that hose.
  9. You can make your own balance tube tool to synchronize the throttle bodies if Scud doesn't have one. It is simple on a V11 because there are only two cylinders and two throttle bodies. I found out about this from an old post from 2003. 10. Katarzyna Jaskulska. https://themotolady.com/katarzyna-jaskulska-wheelie/ @dangerous wrote an extensive commentary about her here : https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/19384-gratuitous-pics-of-girls-guzzi/?do=findComment&comment=211626
  11. Are you going to post some pictures of the project bike?
  12. Pete Roper made some comments about gearbox backlash here: https://www.v11lemans.com/forums/topic/25672-light-rattle-in-gearbox-when-pushing-my-bike/?do=findComment&comment=278017
  13. I used anaerobic flange sealer on my bike (LOCKTITE 515) without any problems. No gaskets means no need to slot the hole for the sidestand bolt. I now have 4 gaskets to give away for the cost of shipping.
  14. That's a lot of effort just to make a parallel twin sound like a Guzzi.
  15. Does the engine start easily, run without thudding, & oil press light go out right away? Is the oil on the dipstick clean? Any oil leaks? The hardest to fix is a leak in the bevel box. Oil on the rear wheel rim is a bad sign. Does the bevel box flop around on a collapsed needle roller between the box and axle on the RH side? Gearbox leaks are also tricky to fix. The first sign of a crack on the gearbox casing top mount area can be oil leaking onto the crossover, but then slight overfilling will do that too. Does the charge light go off at idle? Is the green 30 amp fuse melted? Are the tires older than 10 years? Any suspension upgrades since new? Does it have a Roper Plate fitted?
  16. Like Docc said, that clutch sounds like a normal single plate clutch to me, and that engine sounds like it is running really well too. You should contact @cash1000 who has the same model Rosso Mandello. He just had his clutch out, the aluminium flywheel wasn't cracked, so he fitted it back in. Let us know what part of the country you are in.
  17. 32°C is about 90°F. Too hot for me to go out
  18. I have to comment on this. Willie Soon takes the fact that some hydrocarbons have a non biological source as evidence that burning it does not cause climate change. He knows he is wrong, but is funded by Exxon Mobil, among others, to tell lies to gullible people. Tucker Carlson is a well-known purveyor of "alternative facts" otherwise known as BS. A better source of information is the NASA website. https://climate.nasa.gov/
  19. Good suggestion, and is easy to check. The bike now has a Le Mans champagne tank on it that I have never used before, so some blockage is possible, although the misfire was only at low rpm. Yes, a smile for the first few minutes. It was running really well at high power, but since I was still inside an urban 80 km/hr speed limit, high power was only for a few seconds. That angry howl above 6000 is balm for the soul. I will look at those components that you suggest this week. The signal lights are "smoke" colour with amber LEDs inside. Lens P/N GU06753700 "Copetta Indic Direz Fume" is standard on a Griso 1200 8V and fits the original V11 lights. I was trying to reduce the number of different colours on the bike.
  20. First ride after new tires, new front disks, new timing gear set, new TPS, new phase sensor, new rear shock. A nice 21°C (70°F) day. It ran really well for the first 4 km, then started misfiring badly below 3000rpm. Back home I changed the ECU BIN and looked for Guzzi Diag faults. It was still almost unrideable in slow traffic when it gets hot. The LH snorkel fell off (see pic) but I don't think this is the problem. Exhaust leak perhaps? Check the TPS again? That's tomorrow's job.
  21. That sounds like me years ago. I started by getting helmet jacket & gloves so I could test ride a few bikes. I have a maintenance background, so a second hand bike in need of TLC was OK. I rode a few bikes that were fine, but none had the appeal of the V11. A Bonneville was good, but not exciting. A Yamaha R6 was exciting, but didn't stir my soul. I think your friend should try lots of bikes.
  22. I fitted a Wilbers 641-519-01 to my 03 long frame bike. It's an easy swap. It is 5mm longer than the original Sachs Boge. Sachs: 280.5mm center to center. Wilbers: 285.4mm. I only realized the extra shock length when the rear tire just touched the ground while on the maintenance stand, after I fitted the new shock and a new tire.
