  1. Finally off the stand! Yep, this project certainly dragged. It's easy to neglect the project bike when other bikes are ready and waiting. I got my ass in gear this last month and got it done.

  2. Thanks for giving us the final answer to this quest. Always interesting. And also nice that you connect it to Occam’s razor[emoji3] Regards, David Verzonden vanaf mijn iPhone met Tapatalk

  3. Sorry about the delay. I needed to take a break from working on the Stelvio and work on other projects that weren't being attended too. I may be jinxing myself, but I got the Stelvio running again! Turns out it was a situation of occam's razor, it was the battery gone bad. Put in a new battery, cleared the fault codes in the ECU, sprayed some carb cleaner in the intake to help it get going and it fired right up! Hindsight being 20/20, I should have known that multiple, random errors showing up was likely a battery issue as Pete said, but I got fixated on the camshaft sensor since it did fail in the past. I've put ~400 miles on it at this point and have had no further issues develop

  4. I bought rebuild kits for all master cylinders and callipers for my 2004 Ballabio last year from Powerhouse Automotive in UK. You can find them on ebay and their own website. If you don’t see what you need just ask them. They had it all for me and service was fast to Canada.

  5. . Just made reservations for Friday and Saturday nights in our "usual" room, 301. Have a moto-spot reserved, too, but may be caging it with Kathi. I have hernia surgery -- my sixth! -- on 7 August. Yes, I am obviously defective. My first such surgery was after my first unplanned dismount ... an honorable "I laid 'er down" -- from a tricycle in San Antonio in 1949! All since have been from lifting things I should have known better to call for help, but, well, didn't. So, as for riding a day or two short of a month after procedure, not sure surgeon will "let" me (or that I'll care about that ), but it may be an issue of reality then, something I do care about. Even if I do ride, Kathi will cage it. I'll store the (selected!) Guzzi in Hiawassee and we'll head out on lengthy "Visit Old Friends in the South" tour. On the way back, I'll retrieve the Guzzi and we'll see how tall the grass is back here by our return. Be all of that as it may, we look forward to our reunion at SSR XXI. Bill

  6. After getting my other black Sport road ready again, I found my tach was running intermittently and horn wasn't working. Did a search here and learned about RICE. Replaced all the old Omrons with new Pickers. As if by magic, everything works just fine. Gotta love those China relays!

  7. I go to BelMetric for all my metric fasteners I cannot source locally. Order in quantity of 25 minimum and save; and if you bundle multiple items you might need, shipping is pretty reasonable. https://belmetric.com Schnorr washers: https://belmetric.com/washers/schnorr-washers/

  10. All these brake parts on these bikes are Brembo. You should be able to find a Brembo dealer/vendor that can hook you up w/all the rebuild kits you will need to do this. I would do everything so you will be finished and not have any worries. I am not sure about the hydraulic clutch master/slave parts. Also, Ducati (along w/most Italian brands) use Brembo on their bikes, maybe you can get some help there. This is the first day, so maybe someone will come through w/a good lead. When you go back together use Raybestos brake assy. lube and ALWAYS use new DOT4 fluid. Brake fluid is extremely hygroscopic so always use new fluid. Purchase small bottles so you can dump the rest in your car , truck or whatever donor you have .

  12. Where I lived when I grew up, we had a Quincaillerie at a walking distance. They had all the fasteners you needed in those displays. Exactly as in a grocery store; you picked what you wanted, and you only paid for what you needed.

  14. I haven't ridden in the dark with it yet, all I can tell you is that the DRL is fine. I guess we'll both find out the hard way!

  17. And kilometres are much more fun than miles.

  18. Chatting with a couple other South'n Spine Raiders, the question came up asking how many miles I have ridden mySport on SSRs #1/2004 through XX/2024. It was fun going back through my travel logs and finding 12,643 miles of SSR! Now, I admit I rode all of that in "miles", yet twenty thousand kays has a nice ring to it.

  19. Well, I will; of course any Guzzi can use them, but I'm not at all sure the... RWB flag bearing brands are reserving the spaces they take. OH then there's that one ugly duckling (Gosling) that only has the Eagle on the front.

  20. Might have to "rope off" those spaces as there is no protocol, otherwise. Josh and I have one garage space. Because our Sports are close friends and don't mind . . .

  21. In! I booked 3 garage spaces because, well, the neighborhood has been getting crowded the past couple years.

  23. Officially, the Winter Solstice in the Northern Hemisphere is tonight.
