  1. Yep, So would the 1999 versions have headlight problems due to the constant current thru Relay #1 ?
  2. I note that the cool diagrams of the electrical system by Kiwi Roy only apply to the 1999 diagram. Would it be possible to obtain source copies (I'm guessing Visio) of those diagrams? I would like to edit them to create 2004 versions. For that matter, who is Carl Allison and is source available for his wiring diagrams.
  3. OK, a few days late, but I can confirm that at least for a 2002 Scura #599, the wiring is the later 2004 harness version. Referred to above as Livin' Easy. Gotta question the term however. Yea, on the 1999 wiring, the starter relay has to pass the headlight current, but compared to the starter solenoid current, that's easy. And on the 2004 wiring, the keyswitch has to pass the starter solenoid current and that obviously ain't easy as it seems to be the root cause of startus interruptus. So, don't want to gum up the works by changing the names now, but I think the 1999 version is actually the one livin' easy. So, my plan is to cut the Red/Blu wire on #30 of Relay 1 and splice that over to the Blu wire on #30 of Relay 2. This will source both the headlights and the starter solenoid from the Fuse 5 battery source. Since the headlight and starter relays are wired such that they alternate engaging, there should not be any additional load on the Fuse 5. Also, the Fuse 4 keyswitch is 10A while the Fuse 5 is 15A, so there should be spare fuse capability. I've read elsewhere on this forum that the starter solenoid can inrush something like 40A. So, no fast blow fuses on that circuit !! Also, that much current in the keyswitch can't be good.
  4. Thanks, I'll check it out tonight and report results.
  5. Having a no start issue. Relay under seat clicks just fine. Only end up with about 4.5V on the spade lug for the starter solenoid. My bike is a 2002 Scura. I have wiring diagrams for 1999 V11 and for 2004 V11, pulled from the usual web places. So, can someone confirm if - The 2002 wiring is like the 2004 diagram and the starter solenoid current comes from the key switch (likely my problem). OR the 2002 is like the 1999 diagram with starter relay pin 30 up to the fuse then straight to the battery. TIA ! BTW, if the 2002 is like the 2004, should I change it to be like the 1999 ?
  6. Followed a guy and gal on a Ural sidehack around Flagstaff once. They just rolled through the mud which was giving me fits. 2 wheel drive beats one wheel drive.
  7. Easy oil rule. Wet clutch, worry about what kind of oil. Dry clutch, any dino juice will do.
  8. I recognize several of those bikes from the Hand Built Show in Austin during last year's MotoGP. Going again this year !!
  9. Other than consuming a large portion of the grip area, this is a great system.
  10. I'm a computer chip engineer because the math stops at 1.
  11. I don't think I could fit into 30 year old socks, much less 30 year old riding gear !
  12. Airtech generally doesn't sell you the mounting brackets with their fairings, just the glass. Mounting can be a pain in the glass.
  13. And it's just up the hill from the San Pedro Fish Market. Yum !
  14. Yep, Arizona had to clarify that they would follow federal law. It's a time honored tradition to ignore federal law here in Zonie land. Didja know that R-22 Freon is explicitly legal in Arizona, even though there are no sources for it. Why do you think we ignore daylight savings time? Google "Sherrif Joe" some time. Thanks for finding 28-903, I didn't find it on my google search.
  15. What's with the color of that drive? Did it come from a military salvage jeep? Does it have a DOD part number? Drive transmission, Rear, 90 degree, motorcycle, V11.
  16. During snowbird season (now) we need this version - The blue car is the snowbird.
  17. Arizona law as it currently stands - pretty basic 28-729. Driving on roadways laned for traffic If a roadway is divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic, the following rules in addition to all others consistent with this section apply: 1. A person shall drive a vehicle as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not move the vehicle from that lane until the driver has first ascertained that the movement can be made with safety. 2. On a roadway that is divided into three lanes, a person shall not drive a vehicle in the center lane except when overtaking and passing another vehicle where the roadway is clearly visible and the center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, or in preparation for a left turn or where the center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the direction the vehicle is proceeding and is signposted to give notice of the allocation. 3. Official signs may be erected directing slow-moving traffic to use a designated lane or designating those lanes to be used by traffic moving in a particular direction regardless of the center of the roadway, and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every sign.
  18. Ever since Arizona clarified that motorcycles could indeed use the car pool lanes, there hasn't been that much need for lane splitting. Most of the big traffic jams here occur at places where the freeways merge, and that isn't a safe place for lane splitting anyhow. The new law would also make filtering (the European definition, moving to the front of stopped cars at a light) legal, and that would be helpful.

    TIME FOR A DIET?

    Time / Money / Skill Trade-off as appropriate !
  20. Didn't know such a thing was possible until I saw the pix. That's what used to be called "sano" in the 80's. As in sanitary, as in cleaned up. Maybe I'll be 4th in line for some Griso covers.
  21. I rode my Scura to work today. It will be 75 degrees and sunny on the way home. You folks in the frozen tundra (everything north and east of Arizona) can get back to me around say mid-August.
  22. Found this poking around Euro Moto Electrics site -
  23. The V11 uses a Valeo starter, yes? In BMW Airhead land, a click and no rotation is a common occurrence with Valeo's. Solution is aftermarket starters using Nippondenso guts. Anything similar in Guzzi land?
