  1. Is that marinara sauce in the trans??? Or just a red-blooded Guzzi?
  2. Woodcraft also makes clipons of varying heights. They go by fork stanchion diameter and have many sizes available. A low-rise set could be used it you raise the forks a bit in the triples. However, this will make the steering slightly quicker and the early V11s did not need that, so they say. I am pondering the opposite on my Ballabio. I have the tapered 28/22mm bars on factory risers. They're OK for town or distance, but I would still like slightly lower bars. Vortex made the OEM Buell 54mm clipons and that is one option I am considering. They need 28mm of exposed fork to grab and mine came with 18mm showing, so only a 10mm difference. Here are the Woodcrafts:
  3. It helps - like this morning when I checked tire pressures before heading out. Rear @25. Hmmmm. Nail. Looks like some slime is in my future.
  4. I have an inner peace (when I allow it) that is out of this world. I am happier after three cancers than an awful lot of folks are with none. Belief, attitude and perspective. Being patient (and retired), I picked up a new Spidi mesh jacket for $55 +sh on eBay and another textile for $79 shipped. In the long run, they are simply fairly nice Italian-styled Chinese jackets.
  5. Most reliable product Alfa ever made!
  6. You are very welcome. Had to do exactly this when I swapped the footpegs out on my V11. There have been reports of heavy rear brake drag after removing and re-installing that rod and the lever. Just a bit of wiggle room in the rod and you will be golden. Still, after a ride, you might check the rear wheel for free rotation (well, as much as that term applies) as well as the disc for temperature. If you are a regular user of the rear brake, understand that it will be warm. If it is too hot to touch, recheck the linkage for some free play, and consider that the caliper pistons could also he dragging. If so, a caliper rebuild is the solution to that - but one thing at a time.
  7. Clean and lube the end of the rod and maybe Armorall the boot. Slip it back in and you are good to go. When adjusting the pedal, make certain that there is just the tiniest bit of slack in the system (pedal-rod-master cylinder cup). If there is no slack, you might be partially activating the rear brake. If you have a stand, you can check the free wheeling of the rear wheel once all is back in place.
  8. You know, when they are partially (Ha!) disassembled for maintenance, it's just as easy to bolt aftermarket parts back on. After all, you can switch those OEM parts back anytime you want to - just like giving up smoking...
  9. If only there was a pic with Mr. McGregor. So do we call the frenetic last minute bidding the bike of the star war?
  10. Well done! So, it appears that the blue tailpiece and seat cover were done on purpose! OK, I suppose that adds a bit of Italian flair...
  11. In Seattle, they don't need a reason to riot.
  12. New tech is very costly. A year or two will make it more affordable, more refined, more practical. At its current price, it cost more than 6 of my 7 bikes.
  13. CrossHelmet X1. A cool $1800 US. Rats! Already bought a new iMac with my stimulus check...

    IMGZEIT

I tried signing up for one of the popular image hosting sites and finally gave up. For about $1US monthly, I find Imgzeit utterly easy to use, very intuitive and hassle-free. Very happy, as some forum software requires a cumbersome and archaic process for posting pics.
  15. I, for one (maybe the only one) am looking for a rear view camera setup with a single or dual screens atop the gauge cluster. I mean, you're gonna do a head check anyway, but since every car now has a backup camera, why not a rear view camera and no mirrors? I know someone will post a link hereā€¦
  16. Well, you of all people should know! I seem to recall something about an improved tensioner sold by someone.....?
  17. Hmmm. Am wondering when the timing chains ceased being an imminent threat?
  18. In the US, the Woodcraft company has been making various handlebar options for some decades. They have riser models up to 3". https://woodcraft-cfm.com/collections/clipon-risers/?page=1&rb_tags=2004-buell-xb12r-firebolt-esi7940075|fitment_universal
  19. Best I ever did was 875 miles in one day - but that was on a Yamaha TX650 (XS650). 42 years ago. Anyway, I have a set of Motobits forward mount pegs that are pretty decent. I can post up some pics. EDIT: Failed to note for the OP that the lowered/forward pegs are off the bike and in a box and if he is interested, we can talk about them. I am also in Washington State, so not all that far away.
  20. Yeah, docc posted the listing. Is your Ballabio in the registry? One fine day we'll have an 'all Ballabio no Baloney' gathering. (Bologna for the Italophiles)
  21. Ewan is only 49? He had the "old man" pegs installed! Lightweight! I got 19 years on him and I'm looking for rearsets!
  22. In the past, I have gone down WoG (without gear). Young, foolish, ignorant, mostly happy. Ahh... but once again I digress. I prefer not crashing, but with gear if I must. Recently bought a couple of Spidi jackets for a relatively good price. They do not come with back protectors. Hmmm. Looked around and it seems that CorTech has one of the best accessory spine/kidney protectors, all things considered. It's called the Latigo and retails for about $90. Found a new w/tags example for less than half that, shipped to my house. Tried it today with the Spidi mesh jacket on an 80+ degree day: rural, freeway and traffic. Not bad. Was much cooler than I thought. Level 2 Euro protection level. (2 prior back surgeries), plus side "wings" for kidney protection (stage 3 kidney disease). You wear it like a back-pack and it also has a cross-chest strap to better hold it in place. Wide straps with elastic tensioners across the belly (yeah, that too). You know you are wearing something, but to me it feels pretty much like an elastic back support. T-shirt did not stick to my back, at ride's end, so it ventilates rather well. If I broke scapula, glenoid and right ribs 4-9 into 12 pieces using only 498cc, just imagine what 1064cc could do!
  23. What is your intent for those other two transmissions? To sell with the caveat attached, sure. For yourself? Time-bomb trannies do not a touring gentleman make. MG, Harper's or someone who has the ability and desire to wind these springs up should have them listed in their online parts lists. Relying leaning on the tried and true forum members gets a little wearing on them.
