Vibration in grips at 3k-5k RPM...any way to correct?

The Fast by Feracci domed pistons were the same weight just higher compression (domed), installed by a top notch motorcycle mechanic. My point was that you can over tune a bike w higher compression and map it to make the bike faster but at the cost of more vibration. https://www.ferracci.com/products/piston-kit-92mm-11-1-v11-sport-lemans Fast by Ferracci Moto Guzzi - PISTON KIT - 92mm CR 11:1 V11 Sport/Le Mans code F27700 $589.95 Regular price$900.90 -

For what its worth as a mere mortal to the experts on this forum. I owned a 2001 Silver V11 Sport new that I later added a Fast by Ferracci drop in pistons, FBF Power Commander w a custom map made to make peak horsepower, lastly FBF carbon exhausts. What Mike Wells & I created was one of the coolest deep toned 2v Big Block Guzzi's ever. We also created a vibration machine that even with Throttle Meister heavy bar end weights couldn't resolve, leaving you with numbness on demand. Many years later, my new to me, low mileage V11 Sport Rosso Mandello is running a custom map (idle is higher), everything balanced to spec with stock bar ends, no power commander. Riding to the 22 Spine Raid last year, rarely did it create enough vibrations in the seat or the hand grips to create the same sensation as the FBF Silver V11 Sport, remember I'm 20 years older. *So there really is a sweet spot on these bikes as far as tuning is concerned to make them more comfortable, again devoid of the technical data supplied by the elite mechanics on the Forum. -

CSP, how do you like the Husqvarna Norden 901? Good tour bike also?

Pete, I was the prior owner of Kalev11 bike. It was a recall era bike bought new. The late motorcycle mechanic Mike Wells took the gearbox apart and installed the recall parts, under recall warranty. Best motorcycle mechanic (Ducati, Triumph, Honda, Moto Guzzi, etc.) I will probably ever know, period. The kicker is the gearbox many years later still exploded. So what does that mean? It means all this recall panic is important but still not a insurance policy that the unit could still fail. In some regards, we all need to let it go, they are all 20+ year old Italian made machines prone to some failures. As for swapping out the motor or transmission, some how both went bad on Kalev11’s V11 Sport, he swapped one at a time as the failures were not simultaneous. Both swapped in his garage, the bike runs great. What does that mean? It means for not much money he swapped a 04 EV motor, reused bits from the original, mostly for original aesthetics, and got on the road fairly cheap. I think he bought it from Pinwall, with verified mileage. If you have the skillset to rebuild everything, then go for it, otherwise swap parts is option B. The whole point is to keep these cool Italian bikes “on the road” by any means necessary.

I agree with 80CX100 about Jim Hamlin @ Hamlin Cycles in CT, he is a top notch guy. He sells used Guzzi's my guess is he can work on V11 Lemans. As for parts or special tools, you may consider Curtis at Harpers Moto Guzzi. https://www.harpermoto.com/ https://www.harpermoto.com/parts-lookup/2000-2009-moto-guzzis/v-11-le-mans-1100-2002/transmission-complete-ii/

Have you considered replacing the whole unit? Install complete without taking it apart and all the special tools issues. Have a buddy w a V11 Sport, with both a salvaged transmission and motor, bike runs fine.

A car motor installed in a motorcycle, nobody has an affinity for Boss Hog unless its on a rerun of The Dukes of Hazard. The bike Eric listed was beyond cool, w an /Alfa V6, an Italian motorcycle with a Italian motor installed.

Flotsam is defined as debris in the water that was not deliberately thrown overboard, often as a result from a shipwreck or accident. Jetsam describes debris that was deliberately thrown overboard by a crew of a ship in distress, most often to lighten the ship's load.

Bill, I bought new in 05 a 2004 EV and owned it for a long time, nice road bike, mine had color matched 40L Hepco & Becker Bags. I took a trip on the EV from Boulder Colorado to Glacier National Park (through Yellowstone twice) and back. You consider the KY Bourbon Trail in your travel plans riding through Kentucky. Many nice places to stop for a "tasting" of the good stuff. https://kybourbontrail.com/map/
