I tested, and tested, and tested; no difference. I uncut the zip-tied harness and inspected, all is well. I guess I'll swap the stator or I'll have to drop it off to get repaired. I'm at a lost.
-
the regulator has the original ground, plus the one I added. As for the ground from the battery, I'll inspect it later to see if indeed it is still there. I suspect it is as it should be. The bike is so clean, not tampered with other than what I've done, lol.

In reference to the 30 amp fuse topic, I swapped mine for a circuit breaker. However that wire is still heating and melting.. I wonder if this all has something to do with that.

12.9 cold 12.6 KOEO 12.7 idle 12.9 2000 13.1 4000 13.1 5000

…it does.

@gstallons The new rectifier wires are identical to OEM. You mentioned the indicator light on a BMW. I replaced all of mine with LED, wonder if that has something to do with it. However the lights work, and have been working for thousands of miles.
-
@gstallons I have a fairly new lithium battery (fully charged), OEM stator, OEM harness, OEM fuse block, now with circuit breaker in place of 30a fuse.. I've only added a new rectifier.
-
@audiomick you must be correct, I disconnect the entire wire cluster from the positive battery terminal.
-
It varies depending on throttle; 40, 60, 80, etc.

I installed the ElectroSport rectifier, no change! I have amperage coming off the stator, varying depending on rpm, as it should. If I disconnect the battery while running, the bike dies. All test point to the rectifier, however I now own the original, a $40 Chinese one, and the $150 ElectroSport one and they all fail. What next, boys?
-
I just called ElectroSport, I'm impressed! I merely called to ask if local pickup is available and was referred to their tech, prior to visiting. This guy was super knowledgable, helpful, and helped diagnosed, albeit over the phone. He was surprised, but agreed, it sounds like my Amazon $40 RR is dead on arrival. Made in the USA, one year warranty too; I'm heading there in just a bit.

I have, all good.

Well, my Amazon Chinese replacement rectifier did not fix my situation. $40 shot as it's no returns. I wasn't convinced this new one was bad, but the test results displayed were identical. I had a knowledgeable friend look it over today and he thinks it's the rectifier. If it truly is a junk part, I'll eat the cost and buy a better one. However if I buy another, and it doesn't fix the problem, I'll be so disappointed. The charging system is simple enough, so my question is, might it be something else I'm missing or is it indeed still the rectifier needing replaced (relay issue)? headlight works low and high, as well as the brake light. I should mention, if the battery is disconnected, the bike stops running. The more expensive rectifiers I'm considering is these: https://www.regulatorrectifier.com/products/1998-2004-moto-guzzi-v11-sport-lemans-regulator-rectifier https://roadstercycle.com/index.htm https://www.mgcycle.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=37_161&products_id=1277 I'm leaning toward this one, as they are based a few miles from my home. https://www.electrosport.com/products/esr515-regulator-rectifier-ducati-1-phase-charge-light-output Advice, direction?
-
Well, with the new rectifier, no change! I'm basically getting the same reading, 13.2 at idle and after throttle blips, or at steady higher rpm. Unless I'm mistaken, this now means it's my stator? Not to mention, my 30a fuse to 30a circuit breaker upgrade, is still melting! I'll research online how to test the stator while still installed, then possibly order another depending on results. I hope it's just a matter of removing the front cover to swap. Any advice guys?

I actually bought a generic version of this tool over 20 years ago and absolutely love it, and rely on it. I use for both, cars and motos.
-
Buy one of these before you start. https://www.motionpro.com/product/08-0143

I removed the rectifier, and checked the ohms, both directions. Negative bias 14.5, positive bias, no movement. If I understand correct, this is good. Just the same, I ordered a replacement, albeit an inexpensive one. At the very least, it will rule out the rectifier with certainty.
-
Finally checked the charging voltage, dead. The battery is 12.8 and only rises as I increase RPM to about 13v. New regulator needed? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BHQN17XV?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

…rereading this, it's a bit sexual, no?
-
Don't overthink it, just clean it and grease it. You'll be in there again in a few thousand miles anyway. Burn that rubber!
-
4,000 miles, huh. I usually swap plugs at each oil change, but those look far worse than any I've swapped, V7 or V11. Glad you're safe, and back home, albeit a bit late.

I enjoy traveling very much, and would hate to be limited. I believe with flights and accommodations being more affordable, more people are now traveling. I can't blame anyone, there is so much to see in this big world. As for being anti-tourist, it leaves a bad taste. I live near Laguna Beach, CA so I do see a lot of tourist, long lines, etc. I never considered doing anything about it. I pray we all stay safe.

A buddy and I visited the LA version of the popular Austin Handbuilt Motorcycle Show. I found a few Guzzi items. https://revivalcycles.com/pages/handbuilt-motorcycle-show

Thanks, I'll check output this week. If correct, I may look into adding some sort of an inline heatsink.
