  1. @Scud I hadn't realized you've not used the tool as of yet. Clear out that garage, then I'll swing by and we can sync both our bikes. I'll treat us to lunch afterward.
  2. I'm ashamed, I have yet to have ever balanced mine. Or on my V7 either. @Scud is local to me and I believe he has the knowledge and tool to do this. One of these days, I hope to meet up with him, if not for a ride, than a beer in the garage.
  3. I can't believe I'm actually reading this thread, reliving my past nightmare with my speedo. It still surprises me there is no mechanical replacement, cheap and easy. The internet is full of cheap and easy mechanical cable-driven speedos/tach. I ended up replacing both angle gears and cable, spending far too much and all seems well now. However, I spent even more money when I found an NOS white face speedo (It may be a unicorn). It now lives on a shelf, waiting for it's turn. Hope you get this sorted.
  4. Rode to work again today, all is still well. Whatever it was, it's gone.
  5. I did the Lucky Phil Shift Improvement, and all is well. I have no wish to perform this other spring upgrade as it's so involved. I have about 15k on my 2003, am I destined to be forced to do so? As I read through this thread, it seemed it may be so.
  6. @OuijiVeck I just read through this thread, welcome back. You mentioned handling, etc. I might mention, as I have the long wheel base as well, I pulled the forks up through the triple tree 15mm. The helpd the sluggish slow steering.
  7. Having owned an Opel GT in both Ohio and California, I learned first hand DMVs aren't always in the know. My advice, register it as you're supposed to do, and let them figure out how to do it on their end. Congrats on the new bike. Change those fluids and filters, add fresh gas and a battery and more than likely, you're on the road!
  8. If I knew for certain the best effective and economical suspension choice, I'd have no problem purchasing and installing it myself. As I'm local to GuzziTech, I'd like (and need) to have them look at my suspension. I'm waiting to become more comfortable with the cost.
  9. @Gmc28 Wouldn't you know? I rolled it into the garage Saturday morning, prepared to evaluate the mishap. Just as the forum suggested, turned the key, heard the pump prime, so I hit the ignition. Started right up, idled perfect! I drove it a bit later to Home Depot, about 8 mile round trip, no problems. Then this morning, ride to work, 25 miles one way, no problem. Sheesh. btw, I've ridden about 3k or so since replacing the filters, fluids, injectors, plugs, etc.
  10. Cranked and cranked the V11, but to no avail. Yesterday it was also a hard start, then ran the 50 mile day as if it had a miss. Today, it started after a tremendous amount of cranking, but would not idle. Now late for work, I parked it and hopped on the V7. I'm not sure what to check first, maybe I'll pull the plugs, see if they're wet. If so, see if each wire is firing. Any other suggestions?
  11. https://traxxion.com/product/ak-20-axxion-motorcycle-fork-cartridge-kit/ The PO sent the forks to TD, to be tooled for this upgrade. As for the back shocks, he upgraded to Wilburs.
  12. I also have Traxxion Dynamics AK on my 2010 V7, and they weren't even purchased for me, but rather the PO! They are great, but I believe these were $1100.
  13. Searching RaceTech for fork springs, they recommend for my weight, the same spring as stock.
  14. So many great explanations, thank you all. After evaluating what I've adjusted, how it's reacting and what you've each advised; I believe my springs may be too soft. I think I'm the third owner of this bike. The guy I bought it from weighed more than me, albeit he did not ride it more than a 1,000 miles in over 10 years of ownership . My conclusion is the first owner must have been lighter than I and replaced the stock springs because the OEM springs should certainly be able to handle my 170lbs and gear no problem. I guess this gives me the start of my 2024 Christmas list.
  15. They never bottom out while riding, unless I nail a pothole hard! In fact, I'd say they feel really good on-road. I usually only notice during on a slow roll, over a harsh transition. I'm only 165lbs, so the stock spring rate should be perfect for my weight. As for being old, I'm not sure steel loses tensile strength like that, but maybe.
  16. @docc let's define "that". When riding down the street, straight or in turns, the bike handles as well as I expect for stock suspension. However, when first striking a surface change such as when I encounter the street transition from my sloped driveway, it slams. To avoid it, I gingerly brake and roll over this transition each time I leave my drive. But again, once on the road, it seems fine. My guess is the springs need to be more firm during a harsh transition. Is this indeed, preload?
  17. My front is lowered 15mm. I experimented a lot until I found this sweet spot. I was comparing the 2003 V11 to my 2010 V7, which handles amazing. After I landed on 15mm, I discovered GuzziTech advises exactly the same. Do a search for my thread for more specifics, if interested. I still desperately need more preload, but the overall handling, with OEM forks and shocks, are acceptable. I'm wondering if I should replace 2 inches of spring with 2 inches of spacer. I did this with other bikes with great success.
  18. I have my 1989 Honda GB500 (Cycle World 600cc feature bike) on display in our house, full of oil, but zero fuel or battery; no smell at all.
  19. shucks, I'm out. It just can't happen this year for me.
  20. It damn near took 6 full gallons when I filled it. I run the odo each time and in the past clocked 37mpg. This time only 205 miles. As for leaning it over, about to the foot peg.
  21. Proved once again mine doesn't work, ran out of gas a half mile from the station today. I tipped the bike over gathering every last drop and rode the remaining way there. I think I threw out my back…
  22. in case you need a new one, https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256802246857689.html?gatewayAdapt=glo2usa
  23. This is on my list, maybe this year's list! I want to check with my usual riding partner, see if she's interested. If not, maybe I'll go it alone, and meet up.
