  1. Ok, then how would it work? We have the rear wheel sitting on two bearings, we have the crown wheel sitting with one side on a bearing, the other side being centered on the driving cog, and we have the housing sitting with one side on the rusty needle cage, the other side being held by the shaft seal. I can imagine that this might work quite well even. Maybe better so as with the big needle bearing installed. Would it be software, I'd say it's a feature, not a bug.
  2. Didn't someone say/admit he just mixed up numbers and sizes and so on? Typical forum nonsense so to say? How come you've got the guts to talk about "missing bearings" and "evidence"? So far this site wasn't totaly twitter yet, but it seems we're coming close to it now.
  3. He's got a homepage, of course. Interesting read
  4. People wanted to organise public vomit parties when it was presented. Today they probably would give a lot if they could get only half of it. No clue about the year. What says Google?
  5. Castrol 75-W140 Synthetic plus MoS2 for the gears, Liqui Moly 10-W40 MoS2 partly synthetic for the engine. I seldom change the engine oil, just fill up when the light comes on, that's after about 6000 km. I have to add that the V11 seldom sees a run shorter than one hour. I believe in MoS2, not so much in the carrier oil. All my bikes and cars believe the same and don't make any problems.
  6. How was the concert? It was great. She is beautiful, and in top form. She was warm, witty, funny, honest, energetic, and grateful. She sang most of the songs I wanted to hear. The contrast between her intimate and humble offerings juxtaposed with a sea of cell phone screens, was astounding. With the encore came "My California" which calmed the audience long enough for most to sit, stfu, and listen. .... Found that nice pic below. Quite ambivalent feelings in the audience
  7. No nonono, you're missing everything. Laverda was my Italian socialisation, too. Never rode one, never owned one, but I definitely do know I'd buy one should I have the opportunity. At once! Laverda 1200 In the early eighties sometimes we were up to 6 bikes, 5 of those with 3-in-1-to-nothing, me on my 750S with 2-in-2-to-nothing, seldom below 6K, and this was not on the race track.
  8. Best option on the long run. No wrinkle, though. More important as the V would be stopping the crack by drilling a small hole at the end of it. I know a guy who used such a box for over a year on the race track before he eventually brought it to the welder.
  9. Thanks. Probably beyond what I would be willing to do. And yes, KR I use for shortframe (personally for V11 Sport, but that would mean a rather small V11 forum). What is a Rosso Mandello? Something inbetween or a legit long frame?
  10. No catastrophic failure. Just a few spots on the garage floor and a burnt x-over. To the smell you can get used, after a year or so you'll probably miss it. Other question: Is it possible to mount the newer subframe to the KRs? Has anyone tried that before? While I didn't have a broken case so far I found the lower cross bolt loose several times over the years now. Scud could be right with the impression that KR frame and drive train are a bit 'elastic' at this point. Hubert
  11. The lower is the fuel return. It's pressurised, min. 3bar, so don't turn the ignition on until you have this hose clamp tight again. If you already have, then surely it was an interesting experience anyway Those pumps do deliver.
  12. I know this procedure done with compressed air. It's quite common when you want to change worn valve shaft sealings.
  13. Looks good to me. You're talking about the two smaller ones going to those two hard to reach tank nipples, I suppose. If in doubt, take the hoses out or leave them unplugged, They're for venting resp. overflow. Mine are out since I removed the tank the second or third time, hurting my fingers.
  14. You're welcome, friend. You've heard the term 'self fulfilling prophecy'
  15. Later models do crack as well. Especially when the engine or gear box was out. I'd suggest you try to get a new one as long as there's still a slight chance for finding one, though without the wrinkle paint.
  16. The Ippogrifo was technically a direct forerunner of the V11. Google for pics. It's amazing.
  17. nice:) You still have also the LMII visible in the shed?
  18. Another one: This one was made somewhere in Russia (if not it was a good story at least), picture taken in 2005 I think. Rear tyre was a 190, on a broader rim. This Scura was loud, aggressive, fast, beautiful ... I had my Greeny for less then a year these days and was really beginning to suffer from its OEM exhausts and its greenish fairing when I met this guy in the NL at one of Jaap's meetings. It somewhat changed my bike's life
  19. The Ex-Box costs a lot of high end power. The headers are conical and rather light. Overall manufacturing is rather poor. The sound is different, in an old thread Belfast said, the sound reminds him of a typical WW1 plane, quite the opposite of the oncoming thunder storm. I have one since 10 years, recently switched back to the round and open Ti Mistrals I bought in 2005, because something inside the Ex-Box broke loose and awaits fixing now. The Mistral types are a lot manlier, rather the correct thing for a decent Gran Tourismo. While the Ex-Box goes right to the ears, the unmuffled Mistrals rather go to the neighbours' window panes and glass cabinets. That said, I hope I'll have the Quat-D ready 'till next year, just in time for the next season. I'm deeply hooked.
  20. So it probably once was seized. Maybe because of a jammed bearing? By the way, you have a nice avatar. I think it would look good on my white LMIII as well. Maybe with plasti-dip. Can we get this stuff around here?
  21. Yes, it is. Both. Chamfered I'd say.
  22. You're talking about part 9? That's chrome plated steel. On KRs, others probably too.
