  1. I spoke to Michelle in Oct during one of my quarterly "where are my engine cases" conversations. She made me promise I wouldn't leak this out too much since the Dealers had not even been notified of the change. Unfortuneatly, she hadn't found a new job the last I heard. Very sucky situation but can't say that I'm really surprised by the actions of our favorite scooter company. Piaggio NY, where are my engine cases!!!
  2. I have to agree with carl, andy, guzzirider and others.....have an 03 fatboy & 03 V11, I love them both for their own purposes in life. Also nice to have unlimited aftermarket HD possibilities to customize to your heart's content. I too get annoyed by all the HD propoganda and labels...but also the other extreme of young squids with over powered crotch rockets wrapping themselves around telephone poles. Ride what you like and get over the perceptions and stigmas. DenBen...I like your dream garage list but haven't experienced the hate that you speak of (then again, maybe I always wave first, ha ha)....In fact I find the old school HD guys have a lot of respect for Guzzis and their heritage. Oh...and my V11 Ti pipes are just as loud as my Harley...saving my life every time I lane split and smell the smog-filled roses here in L.A. cheers
  3. Alex, what are you're plugs gapped at? Are you using the NGK BPR6EIX or another brand? Thanks!
  4. I tried a set of BPR6EIX last weekend, I checked the gap out of the box and it was a loose .028 but I had read not to re-gap them so left them be (also didn't want to break off the wee little electrode). The bike ran like crap once it got up to temp. Would carb fart on me and ping much more than usual. Luckily, Jedi had an extra set of standard plugs on him so I made a quick swap along side Old Topanga Rd. Bike ran great immediately after changing them back....well....I still have a significant amount of pinging under heavy load...but I'm learning to live with it. So for those who have had success with the NGK Iridiums, what gap did you set them to?
  5. don't be teasing me like this....outstanding!
  6. yes....good picutures indeed. I especially like the motorclothes http://www.guzzisti.it/saloni_eventi/milan...es/guzzi019.jpg
  7. Jedi, the cat's officially out of the bag, eh? Let me know when I can come over and drool over it again over beers. j
  8. I want to like it...I really do.....but a Guzzi with a radiator just seems wrong. According to the website, the radiator in the pics is going to be replaced with an even larger one. Heck, that's why I don't own a S4R...ugly imho. That being said, it would still be fun as hell to ride.

    A great mag!!!

As far as magazines go, it is indeed a great one. Though as with any media, you'll have to look past some embellishments for the sake of the advertisers. I would recommend ordering some back copies that had a cool FBF V11 project. Unfortunately the Spring 03 copy that had the original article is sold out, but there is an edited version linked off the back copy site. The Summer 03 copy has a good recap of the project.
  10. glad i went the used Sportster 1200 route when i was that age....kept me far away from the crowd in the video.
  11. Jedi....did you do the infamous gas slosh to get fuel to left side? Nearly a gallon of fuel could get stuck on the right side in the older style tank used up until early 2003. ..here's Al's thread from last year...before he left us in the dust and upgraded to the new style tank. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=2153&hl=
  12. Well...I find myself again contemplating the future of my engine cases. For anyone still waiting for their cases...keeping reading. I've been in contact with Michelle at MGNA, as of today she says that MGNA has had zero luck in getting any status of new cases being produced. She was not confident what the future would hold for replacements. She presented me with a different option, MGNA will pay a dealer up to 12 hours labor to repaint your current cases but the customer will have to cover materials (ie..paint). Apparently 2 other V11 owners have had this done through MGNA. Has anyone out there had any personal experience with repainting...either through the dealer or on your own? Since LA Yamaha is no longer a MG dealer.....I suppose I would go to Orange County...unfortunately can't use MG Classics....MGNA will only pay a current MG dealer. I wonder how a dealer would go about this repaint.....or what I should suggest to them....I don't think OC has a paint shop. I would hope they would remove the engine, sump, and strip (or bead blast) the old crap off. I'm guessing they would just tape up the jugs. Any suggestions for the prep and paint type so that this doesn't happen again in 2K miles? I know that the Harley engine paint is nice, but not sure if they can get it in anything but an aerosol if I get this out-sourced to a real paint shop. I wouldn't care as much if my cases weren't pealing like crazy....it really looks like crap.
  13. Jim....ditto all. Though I about got killed once in one of those carts when the driver hit a car and we tipped over...luckily I had enough pisco in me that I didn't care at the time. ha ha! Oh ya...and you can keep the anticuchos...I just can't do those.
  14. how funny, I've been to that place in the picture...but as I recall it was more of a dinner place instead of pub. Believe it or not, the Irish pubs are great in Prague....it took me a few google searches, but here is the one that I liked. It's near old town and the astronomical clock...but hidden by enough narrow streets and alleys that most tourists don't find it. http://www.pragueexperience.com/places.asp?PlaceID=961 and if you ever get past "dark czech beer"....ask for a Krusovice dark(Kroo-so-vich-eh) ..great beer but they'll probably be surprised an american is asking for it. in texas terms, tastes a little like shiner bock....but alas...never as good as Pearl, ha ha!
  15. ...heck, in Peru...the women are cheaper than Czech pivo...ha ha. Especially out in the smaller amazon towns...good place to be a gringo.
  16. I wouldn't necessarily say that...I was there a few years ago and had a blast. Don't think they are on the Euro yet so beers are really cheap...like 50 cents. Though usually you have 2 options....in broken English..."light czech beer or dark czech beer." ha ha! The old town is a bit crowded, but it tames down once you walk out of the main square and into the more remote side streets. good shopping, lots of crystal on the cheap.

  18. Concur with all...great event despite mother nature. good to finally put some faces to names. Wish I could have stayed around for Sat night...sounds like I missed some fun. jedi has promised to fill me in on Todd's PCIII session. did anyone see him taking notes??? ha ha. cheers, jason
  19. Not looking for anything specific....but not ruling out any impulse items that I can see in person vs on a website catalog here in the USA. Unfortuneatly, I will be up in Sacile/Venice after the 21st....so a no go for Motogiovane I had heard that Italy is basically shutdown the month of Aug for "ferie"...but was hoping that I would luck out and find a few places open. Unfortuneatly not going to be on a bike this trip either. Thanks
  20. I've been using Valvoline Synpower for brakes and clutch....works great. http://www.valvoline.com/pages/products/pr....asp?product=51
  21. Heading over for "work" for a few weeks starting this weekend. Does anyone know of any great shops in Sicily (I'll be Catania primarily), Rome, Venice, or around Sacile? Unfortunately I won't have a chance to go to the Factory....at least not with my current schedule. Will primarily be in Catania most of the time, I saw there were a few dealers there that I'll no doubt check out....but are there any others that are "must sees" for parts or accessories....or sales (hey, ya never know). Thanks!!!
  22. Jaap, are you sure it was the 1200s that were too tight? The RC-1200s that I put on my 03 V11 were not a tight fit at all. Nor were the ones that my friend just put on his 00 model. The 52mm size is actually just a hair to large to stay on the throttle body by itself without clamping it down tightly. A 51mm would actually be prefered, but I wanted the cone pods, which the 51mm 2580 series KN are too small in my opinion and doesn't "fit" the look of the bike. The 52mm 1200 series seals fine after it is clamped down. Al says you can get the 52mm opening over the rubber velocity stack (with a little lube..heh heh) instead of directly to the TB....I haven't tried this.
  23. I just stocked up on a few cases (pain in the ass to find locally..so I bought 2) Mobile 1 V-Twin 20W-50 full syn. Anyone used it in a Guzzi? Seems to be tailored towards high temp v-twins. Though we don't really care about the wet clutch performance....but I didn't see any other Mobile 1 that were 20W-50. Worse case I'll use it in the harley http://www.mobiloil.com/USA-English/MotorO...win_20W-50.aspx
  24. Sweet! jrt, count me in. I've got my front wheel off waiting for my bearings to come in (hopefully today) and will be changing the rears in a few weeks. Though, I'd vote for dlaing getting the first off the line....he's had more spacer experience to compare the new one to. Thanks for making this happen!
