  1. badmoto, I had the same problem a few years ago (and posted to the forum) when I went to replace my bleeders with SBs. Had no problems on any of the calipers but the exact same issue as you with the clutch slave bleeder....that being a buggered up SB tip and leaking slave. To make matters worse the littel ball bearing in the slave stuck to buggered SB when I removed it and the damn thing went bouncing accross the garage.....another story of cussing in itself. I said screw it and use the original bleeder on the slave with a vacuum gun to bleed.
  2. As Paul mentioned, Todd wrote a good article on Brembo brakes and posted in at Guzzitech. It's a little dated but gives you a good idea of the different tiers of brakes. http://www.guzzitech.com/Brembo-Upgrades-Todd_E.html
  3. Docc, I completely agree (see my post on the 1st page), I've had mine for 3 years and can't imagine using anything else. The audiologist that I used Westone....do you know who your person went through? If you can, ask to keep your original molds as you can send them directly to the supplier for replacements instead of going back through the audiologist. I've also been tempted to get an additional pair with the headphones molded in....but they are pricy. cheers
  4. jedione and I both had our tank and rear cowl butt pads recovered by the same local guy. jedi used the same red as his seat and I had Rich Maund give me some extra carbon fiber material from my seat re-work. I posted some pics in the following link (post #14). http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8541 cheers
  5. I ran into this same issue when I needed to take the instrument cluster a part to make a blinker indicator ground. As you mentioned, the internal indicator light housing is made of ridiculously poor quality plastic. I was concerned at first but realized that it all stayed in place once nicely I put the cluster housing back on. All of my hex nuts that held the top T cover in place were firmly in place so I didn't worry about even removing them. I would just secure your new cover in any manner you can and not worry about trying to rebuild screw holes in the white crappy indicator housing.
  6. I've never seen a 2 piece, U-shape. The ones that came OEM on my 03 V11 (and the same I replaced them with) were a 1 piece donut style of aluminum. As others stated, they are very hard to see after they've been compressed and have some carbon-builld-up. just get a small flat head scew driver and poke around.....you'll find them. Although you can occasionally get away with out replacing them and be fine....for something so cheap, just do it so you don't have to worry about taking the darn exhaust off again to fix it. scroll down to the bottom of this MG Cycle's site for examples. http://www.mgcycle.com/exhaust.html
  7. Thanks for the compliments....it took me a few years to turn the ole standard V11 sport into my vision of a Scura. And a "monsterized" Scura is what I had in mind. The stock seat was rebuilt with gel insert by Rich Maund (do a search for his name on this site for other good words on his work). I also used his carbon fiber material to recover the ugly black rubber on the tank and butt pads. Someone rumored to me that Rich may have stopped his seat work...but check with him directly to make sure. Give me a shout if you need any details on the tail section mock up and install. That's the Rosso tail eliminator on mine...nice product with LED license plate light....but it assumes you will use seperate blinkers (my tail piece lights does run/turn/brake) so has an extra bracket for them. I will eventually modify the bracket to tuck it up tighter. Definitely send some pics when you get the parts on. cheers
  8. sorry for the long delay in getting some pics...just recently had time to put the bike back together after a few projects. Here are some pics of the Rossopuro tail piece, triple tree, and exhaust flanges.
  9. A few years ago I finally sucked it up and got a custom set made from Westone (style # 40). These are the hard style, not the soft rubber ones you see made at the bike shows. They fit perfectly flush with my ear so don't have any issues with full face and work great stopping wind noise when I ocassionaly don't wear a full face. I use them for just about every occasion where I need hearing protection (concerts, airplanes, gun range, races, etc). You usually have to go to a hearing doctor to have them molded. Not cheap (think around $150), but I use the hell out of them. http://www.westone.com/earmold_styles.html#protect
  10. Hi Ray, I'd suggest using the ever magical "search" button as this topic has been a popular one. I spent about 2 min and found these. cheers. 1st link is from Ohlins.com...go down to the recommendation list....it does list moto guzzi v11. Part # is 46HRCS http://www.damper.se/Motorcycle/Hidden/Rec...10/Default.aspx http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=5454&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=6072&hl= http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...ic=5488&hl=
  11. glad to help. As I mentioned, I should be able to get you some pics up later this week (maybe weekend). I had them take a polished triple tree then anodize it black so it would have a glossy finsih and match some other parts. I also choice to have them made without the handlebar holes (I have risers for that purpose). When I went to order the tripple tree they were out of stock and would have to make some more.....and if I wanted one without holes then it would not be a problem. Aside from being backlogged at his machinest and taking a few months, it was not a problem. Fit and finish were excellent. Only thing I had to tweak was to shim the ignition switch so it wouldn't stick through so far (new tripple is not as thick). Oh ya...the new tripple is shaved out in the middle....which looks sweet.....but there isn't much too pretty below it when you look down through. In fact, I think I'll be using some black touch up on a few bare aluminum spot so it's not as obvious. For anything you order from them I would not trust their website "in stock" indication....you should actually email Paolo and ask to confirm. Fair warning from someone who's waited a long time for a few items.
  12. I've seen them in use....sorry....not gonna tell who or how ....they work great for low speed (luckily can't vouch for anything more) and kept the high pipes and longer barend weights from touching the groud. Only the black puck was scratched to hell and probably worth replacing if you care about any evidence.....no bolt damage or anythhing else hurt. A track day's friend.
  13. pShenk, see my recent post on this thread. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8373 Yes, I have the tail section. It is a great quality piece in terms of aftermarket skins but is by no means a quick install. It comes bare fiberglass with a bit of mold resin still on it...so you'll spend some time prepping it. No holes are pre-drilled either....which is actually a good thing since you can do it for your specific application. Once I finished it, I really must say that it looks awesome...though I'm still trying to find some clear replacement lenses (no luck yet). As I mentioned in the other post, my goal was to have the tail area as sleek as possible so I installed a run/turn/brake controller and only use the 2 lights for everything and just have my license plate with a LED license light undernieth with a Rossopuro bracket. Only complaint is the depth of the light socket needs to be about 1 inch deeper (there is plenty of extra space behind it) so you could fit modern LED brake light bulbs. I have my bike in pieces right now doing a few things....but will have it back together later this week and can post a pic if you like. One more warning on the tail piece....it is molded off of the newer style (02+ bikes) V11 tail that is hollow. Worked fine for me and had plenty of room form my Signal Minder and PC-III to fit between it and the frame (important since you lose the OEM "trunk" spot for your tools), but a friend of mine has a 01 with the solid style tail which bolts completely different to the subframe. We haven't gotten around to mocking it up yet on his bike....but it will not be nearly as easy as the 02+ bikes. hope this helps
  14. Myself and a buddy have bought a lot from Rossopuro over the past year or so...even had them custom make some parts. Paolo is who you'll usually deal with....Filippo also works there. They get busy and sometimes take a week to get back to you on email, but they will eventually and are very nice folks. All of their parts are of excellent quality but be prepared for a long wait if they do not have exactly what you want in stock. I waited almost 6 months for an order that was out of stock and needed machining/anodizing, though to be fair it was during their busy season. Here's some of the parts I've had experience with, let me know if you have any questions on any of it. - engine guards with black sliders (for track days) - tail section with 2 brake lights (I converted it to run/turn/brake and took off OEM signals & brake light) - US license plate bracket (all they had were Euro plates so I dug out the digital caliper & gave them specs) - Cateye clear LED brake light - billet rear reaction arm - billet exhaust flanges - billet upper tripple tree btw...no you do not pay VAT but watch the Euro vs dollar market cause it can bite you too. cheers
  15. I'm a little late posting, but happy to hear you got the Cafe. No it may not be as "modern" as the Breva...but it at least has some soul. For anyone looking at the Brevas, please test ride before you take the plunge. I absolutely hated the Breva 1100...this is aside from the what I think are fugly looks and way too much plastic. It was like riding a BMW...the bike didn't speak to me nor impress me. Then again, if I actually liked Beemer tourers and was in the market for one...then a Breva 1100 would be a sweet bike. haha. No offense to the Breva owners out there....to each their own....just not for me. cheers and enjoy the new V11
  16. Absolutely, as long as the previous owner didn't already sign the waiver and take some freebies. This is more of a recall and therefore warranty status is not important.
  17. did anyone by chance find a copy of the waiver memo? I may still do the port & balance, but worse case I'll fall back on the freebies. Thanks!
  18. awesme, great to hear! glad she got a great job after MGNA/Piaggio screwed her over.
  19. Thanks Todd! I looked into getting the Scura CF tank pad at one time but it needed to screw into a bracket that bolts to the tank....a different one than the grommet style of the standard V11 rubber pad pops into. I never found any availability of the bracket and just recovered the rubber pad to match my new seat. Before Michelle left MGNA, she told me that MGNA will pay the dealer a flat rate of 12 labor hours.....is that still accurate? I've been wanting to balance & port at some time down the road though this may be the way to go....I just moved north a bit and need to get acquainted with the new dealer to see if they are capable and willing to do this. still makes me nervous to take a part a strong running engine.....hence the Harley paint for the time being. cheers, jason
  20. After a few years of waiting for new cases and Piaggio USA "loosing" the all pending warranty claims......I finally just painted my cases at home with the HD paint. Of course I took plenty of pictures before hand (to include my engine number) so I can get a box of accessories that I don't need....ha ha. Anyways, the paint matches almost perfectly....really amazing. I took exhaust off and just taped off everything else to avoid overspray....I think I spend more time taping than painting. Make sure and use the Harley TEXTURED paint and not the wrinkle paint.....they are two different types....the textured is for matching up the newer style HD powder coat engines, which is very similiar to the OEM guzzi textured paint as opposed to the older Harley wrinkle black cases. I went through about 6 different dremil attachments but got it fairly smooth then put on about 4 thin coats....if you put too thick of a coat on at one time then you'll lose the texture look. btw....I bought 2 cans but only need 1....something to keep in mind considering that you pay the Harley tax of $14 per can. I'd love to have a copy of the waiver...can someone post it or email it too me? cheers, Jason
  21. Pete, thanks so much for the offer and stepping up to the challenge. I'll take 2 (one for jedione and myself). cheers, jason
  22. Okie, I'm still waiting mine to arrive to the states (with cat eye lens). Paolo at Rossopuro had not produced a US market piece to fit our license plates. So back in January I got the digital caliper out and sent him a bunch of dimensions and he went to his machinist with the US design. Unfortunately, jedione and I placed a large order of parts and many had to be produced and custom anodized. So long story short, 5 months later I'm still waiting for everything to arrive. We're supposed to be receiving everything in June....a long time to contemplate some impulse purchases....haha. I'll post pic of the parts when I receive them. cheers
  23. Tom, nice bike. If it makes you feel a little better, my engine is 1000 times worse than yours. I'd say that 75% of the fuzzy paint has bubbled and cracked off. It's really looks like crap. Wierd though, the pan and the front cover behind the alternator look perfect. Which HD paint are you using? The black tectured rattlecan (part no: 98606BF)?? I know they offer the older style wrickle paint (vice newer textured) in a quart....but think they only sell the textured in aerosal. The textured should match pretty good. You just gonna cover and tape off the way it sits? I'm contemplating taking the jugs off but would rather not. Best of luck, keep me posted on how it goes.
  24. Tom, I have the same problem and am tired of fighting with Guzzi North America on it (now Piaggio USA). I've been waiting for my cases for 2 years. I was on the old MGNA list to receive replacements...but the new Piaggio USA guys had the balls to tell me that that list doesn't matter any more and they are starting a new one.....oh, and they aren't expecting any new engine cases with the old style fuzzy paint. They will swap you out with a new style semi-gloss case, but it would not look very good next to the gear box and bevel. So, I'm going to leave my great running engine the way it is and do a HD rattle-can repaint. My plan is to use a dremil rotary tool and a wire brush attachment so I can get in all the corners to get the loose paint off. I'm getting ready to move to central CA, so won't be tackling this until sometime in June. Let me know how your project goes and what you find that works best. cheers, Jason
  25. be VERY careful when you screw the speedbleeder into the clutch slave. For me, it never gave any real resistance to signify that it was tighting down to seal. the OEM clutch bleeder has a concave tip that butts up against the internal ball bearing in the clutch slave. The speedbleeder has a pointed tip that I couldn't get to seal against the BB to stop any leaks. I kept trying to the point where I over torque the speedbleeder (very easy to do on the brass speedbleeder) and it started to blunt the tip agains the BB. I gave up....not sure how others made it work. I had no problems with the brake speedbleeders....worked great on those.
