Whats the longest trip you've done on a V11?
richard100t replied to Gino Rondelli's topic in 24/7 V11
I would take the Triumh instead. The Guzzi is a great bike for shorter trips, but the farther you go the soul & character of the bike will start to wear on you. The seat does start to feel like a bear trap after about 150 miles. As for reliability, if you gotta take the guzzi bring the plug cap, tools, zip tie, fuses & relays, & I would have to bring by throttle body balancer with me just to be on the safe side. -
It looks like the part may have gotten screwed on too tightly. I see those covers on ebay pretty frequently for $50 or so, cf ones are even under $100 now. After a quick look on ebay there arent any there today.

now illegal in America

I was watching cnn tonight & there was a story about how the government wants to put gps in cars & charge tax by the mile. For some reason just taxing gasoline is ineffective now? Call me paranoid but I'm pretty sure "they" want to be able to track your every move should they feel the "need" to do so. Imagine getting speeding tickets in the mail with your own car tracking device used as evidence against you. I'm with the Rick Santelli crowd...anyone else want to have a Tea Party? -
Surely those are just bolt covers on your handlebar clamps. They should pop off with a flat blade exposing the bolts. The handgrips are on there tight but if you slide an awl or small screwdriver between the grip & the bar then spray some Right Guard or whatever brand deodorant the grip will slide right off. I know it sounds a little funny to use deodorant, but its a common houshold item that will rinse clean with a little soapy water. I cant help you with the cables, but someone will..

Do a google search for "guzzi breakfast". You should get a list of states that have a monthly Guzzi breakfast with the location & time etc. This is a great place to meet fellow Guzzi riders & some of the nicest people on two wheels. Here is a link. http://www.mgnoc.com/club_meetings_and_rides.html

I've had mine over 140 a few times. Of course I was going downhill when that happened Your tach was probably in the 6 to 7 thousand range.

If the government does ban a certain type of firearm it wont be problem for the people that want said weapon. I can go right down to my friendly local Harbor Freight store & buy all the machinist equipment needed to manufacture any high powered weapon I choose to make. Pretty cheap too. All your local militia really needs are a few members with machinist skills. Personally I think thats the best way to go for law type rockets & such, there really isnt all that much to them. Not that I have any desire to do such a thing! -
One thing to remember is to loosen the allen head bolts at the fork bottoms. You also need to remove the calipers from the brake rotors. Make note of which side the spacer goes on. My bike has been sitting in the garage out of sight & mind for a month now because of the weather, so I may be forgetting a thing or two.

I can ride mine on the freeway at temps over about 28 or so. I will not ride if the road is salted or wet in any way. Cold air doesnt hurt anything, but icy pavement is nothing to play with. Salty roads are just too much cleanup work. I havent even started mine up since Dec 26th here in Ohio, its just been to nasty to ride since then. I've been looking at the 7 day forecast & I'm still out of luck. On a side note...has anyone been to the CycleWorld bike show this year? Its going to be in Cleveland next weekend.

I think the problem with that bike is that you probably cant get parts for it. Can you imagine trying to insure it? If you want to only got to the track with it, you can get a hell of a lot better track bike for that kind of money too. Can you imagine taking it to the track & highsiding it? Theres a very good reason that theres only 50 or so floating around. It is a very beautiful white elephant.

What I would do to avoid the screw holes is to go ahead & drill the holes, bend the buckle to the correct radius. Once you have it where you want it you can tap the holes & run the screws in from behind the fairing. Then dremel cut the screws off the front & use the little dremel grinder to smooth it into a flush look. Perhaps a dab of bondo & some fine sandpaper will make it look like it was made like that. I've been thinking of how that buckle would look mounted to the alternator cover myself.....See what you've started! lol

Well depending on what the ebay buckle is made of you should be able to put the curve in it yourself. drill a hole in either side of the buckle & run screws through it into a curved block of wood. .Take a torch to it & when its red hot run the screws down tight until it forms to the wood. Since you're going to probably use screws to attach it to the bike the holes are needed anyway. A little red paint & voila

I just cant believe you would want to add all that unsprung weight on your feathery superleggera v11 How are you going to loft the front wheel in 3rd gear on the freeway with the biker boyz with that large albatross hanging from the front end like that? Have you checked ebay yet? I've seen lots of guzzi belt buckles there, but as I dont want one myself I never looked at them closely enough to see what they are made of.

I know that one forum member in England had an R model & was selling it a while back, maybe a year now. I think there was another one either in England or Ireland I cant remember which.

Upon closer inspection I believe that you are correct sir. Tyvm for pointing me in the right direction

this may sound silly but you can probably just make your own knob. If you have the right size knob material, a drill bit & the tap its a 10 minute job. Hmm maybe I should go into the aftermarket odometer knob business!

That looks like the tailsection from the bike that was in the running for bike of the year. I want to know...where is the battery, fuses, ecu, relays etc????

Clarkson does it again

The electric car is very practical for everyday city driving use for most people. The only problem that hasnt been solved yet is the recharging speed. Oh and it would be better if they could go 150 miles on a charge. I would love to have one in the wintertime as it would heat right up instead of having to wait for the conventional gas engine to defrost the windows. I think one solution could be a universal battery size that could be swapped at a service station when you need a charge. Just pull up & have a crane pull the drained one out & plug a fresh one in. If its done right it wouldnt take any longer than a fillup. -
I would llike to see a price list if one becomes available.

This is a very interesting conversation, but I'm not sure how it affects the cush drive in my Italian motorcycle!

I have a single plate clutch kit that is brand new & never been used to trade. I would like to trade it for a set of carbon exhaust with a crossover or a quat d exhaust. I dont mind if its a used system as long as its in good condition. The part number for the clutch kit is GU01080140 It has the clutch, flywheel, etc....I have pictures but they're too big to post here. If you want to see the kit just pm me I guess this would be a good thing for a Scura owner thats worried about the stock flywheel grenading. Or a regular v11 owner that wants a lighter faster setup, or someone who just needs a new clutch lol. If you dont have an aftermarket exhaust to trade, I'm open to a cash offer as well.

I dont know about wether we have to sell the eu beef at all. BUT if there is a market for steroid free beef I'm very sure that someone will provide the product for a probably much higher price. I've heard a lot of complaining about genetically engineered food, but this is the first that I've heard of steroids in the beef.
