    1200 Sport 4V

I think the newer one is longer I may be wrong though. The MGS is the wheel base of an Aprila RSV and they took all sorts of solution to get it into that whilst having as long as swingarm as possible. But after turning up to a few track days with a MGS yes they would be mad if they didn't.

Carc won't fit the MGS chassi, and just how do you end up with naked MGS styling the half fairing is most of the styling of the MGS.

But no one brought them because of avaliblity or finacially?

    1200 Sport 4V

23 litre tank on a "sport" bike someone is thinking good thing IMO. Wonder if they bring out "performance heads" and twin stacked competion lafraconi's like they did with the 2 valve 1200 sport.
  5. I think AGM batteries weren't widely avaliable/required a armoured car delivery to purchase when the orginaly 100 sport came out. Fueliing was very average on these stock (people who moan about the latter injected ones haven't ridden a stock carbed 1100 sport). The front brakes are a bit spongy have a fairy small master cylinder a 16mm one for a Ducati 916 (around 200ish euro from Ducati new) will fix 70% of the issues and the stainless rotors are prone to warping but they are the same as the 900ss monster 851/916 of the era so just about any aftermarket supplier can get you something for them. 18inch rear wheel restricts tyre selection somewhat although Bridestone do thier current 016 in this size.
  6. Oh probally at least ten, I have to take my shoes off past ten anyway. I'm guessing and I do mean guessing 2-300 actually I'll ring local shop they'll actually tell me that kind of stuff I'll update latter. Although admittedly were're doing ok ATM with the recent weeks carry on in the markets instead of the R word they a talking of growth of only 2% and the stimulus package of 10billion has halved the govt budget surplus.
  7. Guzzi had a bad year !! wre're probally not thier biggest market but seriously can't keep the things on the floor locally and its not summer yet! The 8valve griso is also a serious contender for Bike of the Year from one of the local magazines.
  8. Whilst I like the idea of Guzzi been in the same building for enternity at the end if the day its more important that the company survive. Piaggio have a goal/aim of 20 000 Guzzis a year for the company to be viable. I think they are around 12000 atm the newer bikes have been a leap forward but how much more can the old factory make? There is also the question of weather Guzzi will revive its serious sporting tradition with a modern motor tapping into this market is the only way I can see them reaching 20 000bikes a year. You might find that the more traditional aircooled bikes are made at Mandello and a new range at the newer faclities.
  9. Remove battery and get it load tested, just because the starter motor is going round and round doesn't not mean the battery is fine. If it has a dodgy cell it will be able to turn the starter over with current but the voltage will drop to the piont where all the electronics will simply shut down and you will have no spark amoug other things. Also check the crank postion sensor as this tells the ECU if the motor is turning or not, if the ecu doesn't think the motor is turning it doesn't tend to spark or inject fuel.
  10. Intresting I'll have start taping cooler off then?? usally it gets up to temp sitting int he pits but after about three laps the low temp warning light lights up I always assumed it was wimply because the temp sensor os on the cooler the cooler had been shut off and whatever was left in the cooler was getting very cool. Surely they would of done better than that my idea of a cool day is around 18 celcius couple mid pace warm up laps would get the tmp up you'd think.
  11. Haven't got a Street one but here are some thoughts through my experince of riding mine at the track. First gear is seriously tall and the clutch is little on the heavy side (no where near as bad as the mid 90's ducati's but its no megiura VOR action). I think this would make life diffcult on the street in traffic. The interals are also very lightwieght to get the engine response the way it its the way it spins up is phenomnal the new four valve griso is fairly pedestrian in comparison. This of course comes at the expense of bottom and some mid range performance. The seating postion whilst is undoubtly sporty is reasonbly comfortable (much better than my 1100 sport) although the seat is a long way off the ground at 5'11 I can get both balls of my feet on the ground (track preload setting probally has a lot to do with this). How much fuel it uses a bit I havn't worked it out but it will happily shuffle thorugh about 14-15litres of fuel in four 20minute track sessions. Cooling I don't think will be too much of a problem on a cool day I usally get a low oil temp warning when circulating on the track, this is indicating the themostat for the oil cooler has closed. My biggest issue running day to day is the maintnenance shedule if you stick to it is very stiff, rings every 1000kms cranks every 5000 kms. If you were using it as a sunday blaster and didn't have to contended with heavy traffic it could be reasnobly used in the street but as a day to day bike you'd be far better of with just about anything else. We also havn't mentioned the lack of a locking fuel cap or ignition key for that matter, no fuel light, gauge or any other indication and the black plastic tank is impossible to tell, no pillion accomodation or luggage and undoubtly some other things I have missed. Oh an you also have to find one for sale AFAIK they are no longer avalible from the factory.
  12. Yep you'll also roast your knees on the heads and the torque reaction will screw you into the ground the first chance it gets to ride a guzzi fast is something not even valentenio can handle , well thats what I tell people when they come up with these myths. BMW guys will always carp on about reliablity and lets face it the bikes are boring as bat crap in all other departments its also marketing and because Guzzi is not a big manufacturer other companies can claim thier bike are better more reliable etc etc and make a lot of noise about it. You've got to also remeber on the internerd people will come on and have a piss and moan when things go wrong, the 50 other riders who's bike never miss a beat usually don't have much to say
  13. He's dribbling crap there is only the Corsa version the "road" registered ones are coverted corsa's. There are a few Daytona's around but they are a very different machine, actually there was a Daytona RS for sale in Sydney recently they don't come up often.
  14. As far as i know the charging system does not actually charge at idle so if you are spending a lot of time in heavy traffic have your nice bright 100plus watt low beam burning plus fuel injection ingnition etc etc the battery will be going backwards. Move to the Italian alps, the standard voltage regulators also use the case as an earth so all the charge current has to flow through this earth connection (current flow opposite to voltage). Migth be worth pullin the bolts out hitting them with a wire brush and maybe run a tap though the mounting bolt holes, do not use CRC/WD40 or other similar lubricant for assembly as the film it leaves behind insulates. I've had an acel votlage reg for a Hardley 90 000+kms no drama's on my 1100 sport and its a fair bit cheaper than the OEM item although I think there are now aftermarket ones that are better value yet again.
  15. Would the spoked wheels be lighter than OEM? Like the idea and it should be easier to fit a 4.5rim, might look a bit odd on an 1100sport though.

Nice but I looked at the title of the thread and wondered why the Bureau of Meteorology rated a mention, www.bom.gov.au, nm.

    Guzzi vid

Just thought this was really neat.
  18. Best wishes to all those involved.
  19. Check the open times too they used to be a bit odd, ie 3pm to 5pm or something similar and bring me back a free sample
  20. I would say they are flashing too fash flasher can need a decent current draw to work properly and LED don't draw much current, he has them front and rear if you read the post. A lamp LED combination should be a problem just put resistors across the LED indicators and leave the lamps as is.
  21. Depends if you intend to use one resistor at the flasher can output or a resitor across each individual indicator. Best way is to get the old indicator and measure its resitance 43 ohmms sticks in my mind but could be wrong 5 ohmms ethier way won't matter much. You will also need 5watt resitors across each indicator or 10watt for the flasher can and obiously doubble the measured resitance if you go for this option. Cost under 5 dollar at tricky dicckies or whatever version of electronic parts store you have. The resistors go in parrallel to the indicators not in series.
  22. Should of explain 11mm ring spanner is for doing the valve clearances and is not a size in normal spanner sets. Don't not consider using the factory supplied ones as they are crap.
  23. It depends on what you are comparing it too, compared to the V11 the one at the bottom of the spacer is different the one at the top is the same as for most big twin Guzzi's I think its changed again for the griso/breava and possibly the fourvalver but I'm not sure on that one.
