Rotating the steering to get the starter to work is characteristic of faulty bullet connectors for the clutch switch:

Let's face it, re-making a motorcycle successfully is not a matter for amateurs, the faint-hearted, or commercial venture. For the outcome to touch the heart and capture totality, some combination of skill, vision, experience, tools, and a certain amount of reverence must combine with resources, time, dedication and perseverance.
I offer this case in point:

And then this popped up. Don't know why.
A most dear friend, who has passed now, arranged a bass line for me to accompany his lead guitar/vocals on that song.
It means so much more to me now thinking of him, "Wish You Were Here " . . .

Not just the performance. That is the gag with the whole composition. One melody that is repeated by various different instruments, then combinations thereof. And the whole time that snare drum, getting gradually louder the whole time.
And the buffoon is one of my favourite instruments. Would love to learn it, but I hear it is really hard to play.
I really thought I would push your Too Serious Button (like you did mine on the Redneck Jazz thing
) with the
buffoon <--> bassoon play-on-words, but it seems it fell flat.
Playing the buffoon comes rather too easily to me . . .

And as far as Genius goes, one of my all time favourites. Straight tempo, but only 5 musical elements, about 15 minutes long, and it doesn't get boring. The snare drum part has to be one of the hardest parts in the entire classical music literature.
I so appreciate how this performance features a series of solos. The buffoon solo at 1:49 is especially refreshing . . .

Surely there's a law against riding the course in the reverse direction, it's just not right. I'm not going to watch this video, it would do my head in after memorising the course in the racing direction
At least we would know why your head is done-in. Some people's heads are done-in and nobody knows why . . .

Thanks for the offer Doc after retirement I only have to answer to the wifey. She is pretty understanding, she knows motorcycling and such trips are in my DNA. She knows the difference between crunching a bunch of miles and sight seeing trips.
Recently, a fellow explained to me that motorcycles are essential to a man's survival, even if they are sitting in the garage just to be gazed upon.
His compelling argument?
"Dinosaurs didn't have motorcycles. Look what happened to them !"

@Scud I seem to have finally worked out all the bugs in my V11, sounds like you have too. I'm now retired, so even more time to ride. Let's plan something together. We could meet in San Clemente for Cars & Coffee as it's in the middle.

Thought I might try the Spine Raid this year so hope to see you there. Meet a few of the other inmates.

hopefully i’m not straying too far from the OP’s thread title when i add a couple more non-Odyssey notes:
We have long needed to have a separate Lithium battery thread. It would be quite a task to separate the appropriate posts here and not leave the existing thread discontinuous.
With deference to the Original Topic, conditioning an Odyssey PC545 by replacing it with a Lithium ion battery is like servicing your V11 SpineFrame by taking the license plate off and backing a different bike up to it . . .

I did learn the short frames, 1999-2001, have a slightly shorter rear brake lever than the Long Frames, 2002-2005

clutch lever replacement

The hidden part is the small actuator for the safety switch. When you remove the lever, be prepared to catch the little puck that is in a hole in the housing between the lever and the switch. Sometimes that is a little ball bearing whose chief purpose is to spit itself into a parallel universe if you're not ready to nab it.
Clean that hole well and grease the pivot pin. Once the stamped nut is on, consider a zip-tie through the pivot pin in case the nut works itself loose and the pin pops out. This allows the lever to fall out and ruins our day.
It sounds like time to flush your rear brake fluid and clean/service the rear caliper. Inspect for excessive pad wear that would contribute to increased pedal travel.
Another source of increased pedal travel is a bad wheel bearing. Absolutely worth checking your rear wheel bearings.
