I had some fun leafing through Mario Colombo's excellent book, Moto Guzzi - The Complete History from 1921, and was surprised to see the number of rear facing eagles. And not just on the older, pre-Vtwins. Incidentally, all the rear flyers I saw were on the left . . . Another Guzzi myth busted!

+1 on gstallons advice, no matter what direction you go with this. Seems if you have to replace the fuse connectors anyway, the CB is the way to go. The 30 amp Tyco looks available: https://www.aircraftspruce.com/catalog/elpages/pbcircuitbrkr.php I still wonder if the Tenni's battery had gone rather flat over a long time and the charging system had to way overheat those tiny fuse connections to bring it up, along with the various connecting points having gotten corrosive. In other words, that there is nothing actually broken, pinched, shorted or really "wrong" after the reassembly.

Seems the sump fasteners are the same M6x1.0 as the valve covers. One of my fourteen pulled its threads out. I have the correct "HeliCoil" ("Recoil ", made in Australia), but not the special "STI" tap to install them. Is that special tap a must?

Since both daviscr5 and Tom in Virginia have the later wiring, then the OP, LowRyter, likely has a different problem. Assuming the relays are high current OMRON G8HE, it could be that removing and replacing relays repeatedly has weakened the relay base connections. Again, Kiwi_Roy to the rescue:
-
I also seem to recall that the 2002 got the later wiring. Relay #1 "Livin' Easy" through the NC contact (?)
-
Nicely put, Kiwi_Roy! So (on the early wiring), blowing Fuse5 during a start attempt could be connections to the Starter Solenoid or faulty starter (like the common internal loose magnets)? If it blows turning the key on (Start Relay normally closed), the fault is in the Headlight Relay circuit?
-
I would suggest opening the headlamp bucket and inspecting the 3-way H4 bub connector for heat damage. I have also seen a damaged H4 bulb filament cause a short. Faulty Relay#2, or its connections underneath, is also worth checking.

I had to give these guys a look. I was rather hoping they had posted some images of that delicious V11 Tenni tank . . . https://mcs-engineering.co.uk/

Press to start and "nothing" can simply be the Clutch Safety Switch "bullet" connectors under the left side of the tank. They are notorious for locking out the start function. Sometimes, this can be confirmed by holding in the clutch lever while keeping the start button pressed and rotating the bars back and forth. If the starter suddenly catches, it is likely a bad connection at those flinky bullet connectors.

Actual OMRON G8HE in all positions? Yeah, the Caig DeOxit really is awesome contact/switch cleaner-lubricant-treatment-sealant. maybe that is just the "Gold" product, but it is definitely worth it.

Is the tank polished alloy? Looks delicious!

@swooshdave posted some nice work on replacing the stem nut: Also @KINDOY2 in that same thread:

The regulator does ground back to the battery through the loom to one of the ring terminals. Cleaning and treating the rings and terminals is a good idea, as is adding a ground from the regulator case to the engine or timing cover. Also, it occurs to me to suggest conditioning the battery with an approved charger and method (assuming it is an Odyssey PC545) rather than expecting our charging system to bring a needy battery up though that pitiful little fuse.

This makes me very happy to see! Perhaps not quite so happy as you, hammershaug, but what a delight!

Heh, well I had to "look that up." At first, I could not figure out how the two musicians stayed with one another facing apart. Pretty sure she is the same girl, different instruments. Very nicely done! I doubt I could ride the Sport to that, but it was lovely listening, gazing at the Sport over a steaming coffee, pondering its mythical qualities and place in the universe . I fancy her a bit of a cello, the Sport. Here is the back story of the music I found in an interview with the composer: https://www.theatlantic.com/entertainment/archive/2015/09/ashokan-farewell-how-a-20th-century-melody-became-an-anthem-for-the-19th/407263/

I enjoy listening to what covers keep and what they change. "Wish you Were Here" got me back playing a rendition that my bandmates arranged. Always my personal favorite simply because I can be part of it! I posted the Seger track after stumbling across it and thinking, "Now, that is what is in my head riding the Sport!" (I know I promised to ride like I'm hearing Brubeck, but that only lasts until the first string of cars must be passed. )
-
That. Right there. What my Sport wants to be when it grows up . . .

No surprise that there are those of us anxiously looking this far ahead. Plus, I was reminded that some folks have to put in time-off requests by year end. As ever: Weekend after US Labor Day (Sept. 10-12, 2021) Tellico Plains ,TN, USA Get There. Bring Tools. Here, again, 2021 is Moto Guzzi's centesimo, so we ought to whoop this up! (I'm not at all sure how "whoop this up" translates into Italian). Those riding in from Varsseveld or Bungendore can head out now and have plenty of time to "Get There" . . .

Not everyone loves bar end mirrors, or even mirrors of any kind. Kinda like turn signals and fenders. Don't get me going on how awful I think my panniers make my Sport look. Here are the CRG with the clip on-weights I had turned down. I like jolly135's solution. I would be all over them if I had not gone this route already.
-
I see I had the factory bar ends machined six months after I got the Sport to fit the CRG bar ends; 0.875" (7/8") and a space of 0.435" for the CRG clamp. Great thing is @jolly135 's bar end weights are made without a "gap" and would fit any 7/8" mounting clamp. Not sure what these pieces might cost, but I remember my tightly specified dimensions encouraged the local machine shop to charge me $85US back in 2001.
-
Funny, that's what I always thought of the factory mirrors. I had my bar end weights machined down to accept CRG mirrors pretty early on. The Rizoma are certainly much more nicely made. I'll have to check my dimensioned drawings, but I suspect these custom bar ends would also work for the CRG clamps . . .

" . . . manufacturing defect in one of the heads . . ." What could that be?
