  1. What happens on the shifter side since the Centauro is a 5-speed and the mechanism entirely different from the V11?
  2. I counted eleven Guzzis, two BMW motorrad. And a Thunderbird . . . (Not all in the same place at the same time). As for SpineFrames, seven: '97 1100 Sport-i, '00 RedFrame, '02 Tenni, '02 red/grey LeMans, Sctt2525's Ballabio, and a pair of red LeMans ('03/'04) Condolences, Randy. Was very hoping to meet you. So many plans already for next year and Moto Guzzi's centesimo . . .
  3. I went looking for something that feels like the pace I want to ride tomorrow to the S'xteenth South'n Spine Raid . . .
  4. Until you source the High Current relays, have you opened, inspected, cleaned, and serviced your Ignition Switch?
  5. So, Paul, several of us end up at Tapoco Lodge for lunch Saturday and up to the Tail of the Dragon to watch the carnival if that looks more do-able for you... Also, hoping @sctt2525 brings his sweet Ballabio again to hang out!
  6. I think I dated a girl in college with a history like this . . .
  7. What is the build date on the left headstock plate?
  8. As footgoose pointed out, with the frame side plate (and valve cover) coloration, as well as the Öhlins, looks to be a (converted) Café Sport. Does the top triple clamp show evidence of handlebar mounts? What do the side covers say?
  9. How to "re-black" fasteners?
  10. This is for both forks? I just filled my early Marzocchi (less volume) to a 100mm air gap (luftkammer) with 330 ml per side. My Owner Manual says 400 ml "each leg." These are the 1999-2001 forks on the early Sports. But may be some indication that the capacity may not be best filled completely to the maximum . . .
  11. Good points, as always. One trouble with "testing" the oil coming out is that it could be rather used up (viscosity degraded/sheared) and no real indicator of what it was when fresh. +1, again, that SAE "weights" are all over the place and that some fork oils retain more viscosity when hot than others (hence the cSt measures at both 40ºC and 100ºC.
  12. Yep. See post above about BelRay 5 wt I've been using. Realize some manufacturer's 10 wt is lighter than others' 5 wt. Look at the Peter Verdone Design chart of viscosities in cST@40ºC and @100ºC for more accurate comparisons. Verdone has some very insightful observations about adjusting damping in these fork systems. Worth the read. Happy to see you getting her sorted!
  13. Rather than jack around with the wiring, begin by replacing your relays with 5-pin High Current OMRON. The 5-pin is only needed in the start position, but simple enough to use them in all positions.
  14. I was thinking the current wisdom is to go titanium, but unlikely there is a kit available for the V11...
  15. Modern reissue of the iconic 1939 Shure 55. Somehow, it seems to ‘resonate' with the Sport in so many ways . . .
  16. What Lucky Phil says, there. Power to the starter post, ground to the case flange where you bolt the starter up, and use a screwdriver to jump across the positive to the blade connector on the solenoid. The gear should jump out and spin robustly. Re-reading makes me more suspicious of a flat battery. You have a good voltmeter to check it after it has been quiet (no load, no charger) after a few hours?
  17. The Breva, as well as the 1200 Sport, have a completely different frame and swingarm system. Th certainly look more "upright", but let's wait for folks who have some side-by-side experience to enlighten!
  18. A South'n Spine Raid would be a great introduction to the roads!
  19. Wow, now! That is sweet! What does that ride down to Tellico Plains look like for you? A couple hours?
  20. Clamp the battery positive to the big post on the starter lying on the floor. Put your foot on the starter and take the negative from your car to the housing of the starter where you would bolt it up. It should just jump into action like a startled armadillo!
  21. You are right to be looking for more sag. I would suspect that either the springs or internal spacers may have been changed before. As to oil, I recall the prevailing opinion that "10 wt" is rather thick for these forks, slowing their already limited action. I have long used BelRay 5 wt, yet also learned that measure can vary rather widely between manufacturers. Peter Verdone Designs publishes a chart converting common fork oils to a more comparable centiStokes @ (some) temperature. What does your rear sag measure?
  22. On the V11, I can't see how the oil pressure switch would affect starting. If that starting issue proves changed on 4corsa's V11, I expect it is due to servicing the Ignition Switch. If it doesn't prove changed, we shall surely dive in again!
