Grafted it to the connector from the electric petcock:

The LED thing did not work out for me, so I tinted an 18v "grain-of-wheat" bulb with blue VHT paint.

Ooh, baby . . . McIntosh?

@ GuzziMoto, that Mesa Boogie amp absolutely haunted my sleep for months before I ended up with the Bassman LTD. I'd love to hear it! @moto fugazzi, I hope you re-post your clutch arm here! 6L6?
-
There are quite a few of my silly possessions that fall in line with having a Guzzi. I'm not sure what the common denominator is exactly: analog, atavistic, anachronismal (alliteration!) . . . living long in the lower register? We're bringing this fun topic here from a couple other tech threads so we can be exponentially expressive, even existential . . .

And they probably like push rods, too! New thread! New thread! New thread!

A thousand bucks and that includes an ECU? That's a great deal!

Whaaaat!?!? No cigar? -
Just in from almost 1.000 km (562 miles) of hilly backroads to attend the Barber Vintage Festival. The change to the Sport is delightful! I feel really lucky it worked out so well. The *tone* reminds me of resetting the intonation and (string) action on my bass guitar - so much easier and enjoyable to ride (play) and such a nice, harmonic *ring* on the throttle. I don't think anyone else could hear the difference, but with the bell mouths right below my ears, the change in tone is just lovely. I realize that the only "quantification" has been the change in idle speed and throttle body synchronization (and, perhaps, fuel economy - one more fill-up to gather final data), but having turned over 97,000 miles /157.000 km on this trip (while topping the ton at that moment ), my empirical impression is exceptionally positive. I am one to say the Spine Frame airbox can be a lovely piece of kit!

@Ken -so you've got it sorted? All good now? (The "shims" were, first - a bronze crush washer that didn't hold up as well as I had hoped, although it was probably in there 30,000 miles; and the current one which is a stainless steel washer.) Thanks for the compliment on the amp. I love my tube (valve) amp! It's one of the joyous things in my life that always reminds me of the V11!

Right? There's another forum member who thinks we ought to settle the Spine Raid in Asheville for the same basic reason. I'm not naming any names, but his initials are *motowfo*

Good question about back-feeding the electrics? I got a (3V) LED assortment to build my Go_Winkie, but obviously - this ain't gonna work. Looks like I'll be making this weekend's ride without the reassurance of a proper Go_Winkie . . . .

No tasting comments? -
Who's that scary dude vidding my bike while I'm not looking?

It sounds as though all that "research" to find the appropriate mandrels has really payed off. Maybe you should pour yourself another. If you insist! Here's to a seductive aria!!
-
So . . . I could not be more jazzed!! Immediately, the sound change is so apparent. While the motor does definitely "spin up" *easier*, the tonal sonority is so different, so enticing. It's as though the harmonic resonance of the intake has found the exhaust note of the Mistrals! Throughout the rev range it is obvious, but 5,000 to 7,000 is just addictive. My fuel economy is going to go to crap cause I keep slowing down to row the gears again and again! The resonance is fabulous. Curiously, the idle did drop maybe three hundred rpm (I like my idle on the high side, around 1400-1500). (I was only reading this from the Veglia, not Guzzidiag.) Rather than just bump the idle, I checked the throttle body synchronization and found it off ~20-25mm Hg at 3,000 rpm (that's a lot). Bringing the linkage into synch and adjusting the air bypass screws to balance the idle smoothed it all out and the idle came up a bit. I feel like I'm riding with the Tower of Power Horns!

Lately my shifting has gotten "notchy" also leading me to consider fluid changes and such. Scud had me take close look at my shift lever and found it had, once again, picked up a lot of play at the inboard mount. I had shimmed it years back, but the shim had crushed over time. New shim, nice and tight, and the shifting is much better! I remember some reports that changing the rear drive oil could affect shift changes as well. But lever movement is probably more a function of the lever itself (shimming, striking the porkchop), or the internal shift plate mechanism/spring.

The stock V11 wheels are pretty heavy as well. I would not be surprised if you were able to build some spoke wheels that were as light or lighter than the stock V11 wheels. Tubes add back a lot of weight, don't they?

Or Piaggio.. ;-) ScooterTrash looms large . . .

Drag Racing (not the RuPaul kind)

True that! I haven't been to a national event in a lot of years, but I love the ear splitting *pop*pop* of those upturned exhaust shooting 4 feet of blue flames! At "idle." -
The 90˚ angle on the 1117590 is apparently to fit to the throttle control side once the control assembly is retapped . It's just wrong. The 1117560 cable from the 2002 LeMans fits perfectly with no modifications.
-
No one seems to know - which is disconcerting since we are the world's foremost experts on the V11 Guzzi! I'm planning a campaign with MG NA to get the cable number corrected. I can't imagine they had a completely new cable produced to replace the early V11 cable, especially considering the throttle control has to be modified to install it, where the 2002 LeMans cable just fits right in.
-
Right? But the "replacement" throttle cable for the early Sport (1999-2001) redirects to the 1117590 with the bent tube connection that won't fit the early Sports. But what does the 1117590 actually fit? I have one you can have if you can use it! Is it the same as a -580 or an -880? No one seems to know . . .

Right ? What about Carcano's 3 cyl diesel?
