  1. We've now booked our ferry sailings as shown below, using the Portsmouth to Caen route. Outward: Friday 4th May @ 08.45 - arriving @ 15.30 CET. Inward: Tuesday 8th May @ 09.00 - arriving @ 13.45 BST. With the kind help of 'Digger' on the UK Buell forum we've managed to obtain discounts of up to 50% when using Brittany Ferries. If you decide to come on this Normandy trip please let me know your name and booking reference number via private message and I'll have it processed with the discount. Brittany Ferries web site contains all the routes and on-line booking information.
  2. Glad you can make it, Martin. BTW the British now outnumber the Dutch
  3. Good news! Jane's colleague has managed to re-arrange her holiday dates so we are now able to come . Jaap - you have mail .....
  4. Great news Jaap - glad you can make it . I think Antonio and Denis used the Newcastle route when they came over in 2005.
  5. Hi Antonio and Jaap We'd love to come to your rally but the 14th to 16th clash with Jane's colleagues holiday so she can't get the time off. If it was the 7th to 9th of September we would be able to make it for sure.
  6. Good news - there will be some Dutch Buell riders coming to the Scottish weekend. They've picked up the events list from our UK Buell forum and are planning a trip. If you can read Dutch (Antonio/Jaap ) you can follow their plans on the Dutch Buell Forum
  7. OK, this is it, our cunning plan Hotel is the Au Site Normand, 1, rue des Châtelets. 14570 Clecy. Location details: www.ausitenormand-clecy.com/sitenorm/index.htm The trip is based on 4 nights, Friday 4th to Monday 7th May inclusive. Departing on Tuesday 8th May. You can take advantage of special rates by booking early. We've paid 71 EUR per night for a double room inc. breakfasts. This equates to approx. £24 B&B per person. You can book a room using the secure Logis de France web site: www.logis-de-france.fr/uk/recherch/index-ca.htm Within their web site: Click on Basse Normandie Click on Calvados Click on the Clecy logis logo which is south of Caen on the map Click on Book The whole weekend will be on an informal basis. For those interested, there'll be organised runs to all the main D-Day sites.
  8. Sorry about that Richard. The Easter weekend was problematic for many of our friends who have children, hence the change.
  9. After various discussions we've decided to change the proposed trip to the May Day weekend. The dates would be Thursday 3rd to Tuesday 8th or Wednesday 9th May 2007. Our ferry route will be Portsmouth to Cean. I'll post details in the next week or so regarding accommodation etc.
  10. Hi Antonio We would probably go on the Dover to Calais route and then ride to Normandy.
  11. Jane and I are thinking of organising a trip to Normandy over the May Day weekend - probably Thursday 3rd to Tuesday 8th or Wednesday 9th May 2007. The trip would include tours of the D-Day beaches etc. We just wondered what level of interest there would be from V11 riders...
  12. Party on dude! that would be fantastic, Jaap. If required, we could help with accommodation/route planning if you're coming over to Hull.
  13. Sorry to read that you might not be able to make it Martin - it just won't be the same . We hope you can get something sorted out. It'd be great to see you again, Guy and Helen. You're right about the location, it looks terrific. We just need some good weather to be able to enjoy the scenery and roads ....
  14. I'll put the details on the Buell forum so we might have a few there. It is a fair distance away for most of us ** but the location looks brilliant and given good weather, it will be a great weekend. ** Martin will cover the distance before breakfast of course ...
  15. To be held at the Aultguish Inn, Ross-Shire, over the weekend of Friday 18th to Sunday 20th May 2007. Location details can be found here. Please book direct with the Inn - quoting 'Motorcycle Weekend'. Accommodation prices will range from £17.50 to £29.50 B&B per person per night. The Aultguish Inn is situated right in the heart of the Highlands at the foot of Loch Glascarnoch on the A835 between Inverness and Ullapool.
  16. Not sure yet Martin. I had thought about a V11 rally in Wales and I'm actively looking around for a suitable place. If I can't find anything we might do Spean Bridge again. Watch this space .....
  17. From the German V11 web site HERE which contains a page to register. The rally is being held over the weekend 15th to 17th June 2007 @ Zum Prinzen Ernst Siegfriedstr. 6 D-69427 Mudau Tel 00 49 6284 7021 (The owner speaks English ) No web site exists for this location. All 8 rooms are already fully booked but camping is available on site. Jane and I have booked a room in a hotel 4 miles west of Mudau HERE at 52 euro per night B&B. We're going for a weeks tour of Germany again before attending the rally.
  18. Happy Birthday today, to my V11 Sport , 8th October 1999 to 8th October 2006. Treated him to a ride around East Yorkshire to celebrate.
  19. Size is important - or so I'm told.....
  20. Maybe we should have a separate section for V11 owners who are 6ft 3" tall?
  21. Hi - I'm 6ft 3" and have no problems with my '99 V11 which still has the standard bars fitted. I've completed quite a few long tours in the 7 years since I bought it and find it comfortable over long distances .
  22. The 850 Breva/Griso isn't being officially imported into the UK. We did see quite a few in Mandello so they've been on sale in mainland Europe for some time. The guys at Teo Lamers and Agostini's said that it had been very successful despite the weight/physical size penalty. Jane's been very happy with her Nevada 750 and has covered 37,000 miles without any problems. We've always known that her next bike would be a Breva 750 and with the low seat option Jane can safely manage the bike. Insurance grouping is another consideration. Jane fell in love with the Pearly Blue version during our factory visit at the recent GMG and had a test ride at Moto Strada on Saturday.
  23. Many thanks for your help guys - it's just what I wanted Antonio - I haven't reached 50 .... we ordered a new Breva 750 for Jane on Saturday, in 'Pearly Blue' no less, and I thought she could read through the handbook while waiting to take delivery.
  24. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a pdf copy of the Breva 750 owners handbook in English? I've searched around and can't readily find it ...... Thank you
  25. KR Green 1999: 76,000 km, valves adjusted once a year, all engine/drive train recalls done, still working fine! I'm a bit late to this topic but the 'soft valves' story has been in the back of mind for sometime and I was going to have the heads refurbished this coming winter just as a precaution. It would appear that the old adage of 'if ain't boken don't fix it 'applies here.............
