    Nogbad's new Buell

Around 60 mpg is the average on mine and with its single carb. Tank (13 litres) range is typically 100 miles before reserve.
  2. Mike - no need to book or anything, just turn up on a Buell or European V-twin .
  3. Whoohoo.....another Buell (soon to be) owner on here. You won't regret it Nogbad. I've had my (classic ) S1 from new in May 1997 and will never part with it. Its in yer face, uncomfortable, noisy, and impractical but great fun . You must come to our main Buell meet at the Lincolnshire Aviation Centre on Saturday 22nd July. BTW I've voted for a Blue Buell in your poll .
  4. Happy Birthday! According to my MGCGB calendar the Lemans model name is 30 years old today . OK - it's a quite day at work.....

    Name that engine?

Thanks Paul . I wonder if the engine still exists in a backroom at Mandello and Piaggio have plans for it? BTW I think I'll call the engine Vernon....
  6. While sorting through old pictures I came across this: It had the title of '34' and I think it's a Rotax prototype . Put me out of my misery - what is it?
  7. Sorry Alex - yes, it's Performance Bikes. I can't find a publication date within the magazine but I'm sure its only been on sale for a few days in the UK.
  8. I don't normally buy Performance Berks magazine but the February 2006 issue has a 4 page feature on the Guzzilla V13 After reading about Paul's engine and other related topics on this site, we plan to visit Dynotec while we're in Germany for the V11 rally in June.
  9. Great news macguzzi - the more the merrier . Are these the two Buell riders who came to last years event? One was riding an XB and the other had an S1.
  10. Thanks Mr TX and Mr Helicopter , now I see . I've learnt a whole lot more about who did what and when since starting this topic. Thanks for all your input guys - isn't this web site wonderful!
  11. Yes, my wife Jane (Nevada 750) and I will be going, Saturday 29th to Monday 1st, .
  12. Can't find any mention of Tony Foale's involvement with Guzzi's, but I did find this and this and this about John Wittner . Makes interesting reading .
  13. Taken during our visit to Mandello last September
  14. Alex - there are 217 black and white pictures plus an 8 page colour section. The book covers all of Guzzi's racing machines from the Corsa 2V of 1923 to the race machines produced by Raceco (and other private teams) in the early to mid '90s. The early racing machines are well represented with many rare photos. You'll really enjoy this book . Thanks for the information on the other titles.
  15. I've just finished reading this book (Christmas pressy from my dear wife ) and found it totally absorbing. Written by Mick Walker, it covers the whole of Guzzi's illustrious racing history. I found the chapter covering the modern era and the section about John Wittner, from Philadelphia, USA, particularly fascinating. I never knew he was so instrumental in designing the spine frame and cantilever swinging arm chassis used on the Daytona, V10, 1100 Sport, and V11. Or the fact that he worked in the factory in Mandello during 1989 at the request of Alejandro de Tomaso. I can highly recommend this 200 page book if, like me, you only knew the briefest details about the racing machines and would like to learn more. It's published by the Crowood Press in England. ISBN 1-86126-735-5. I'd like to read more about John Wittner and his racing exploits in the USA - can anyone recommend any other books?
  16. The tracks and dates are shown here . These dates have been firmed up since the web site was last updated. The Brands Hatch round shown as 28/30th July should actually read 29/30th.
  17. Sure will, we're going to as many of the rounds as possible .
  18. Ref Guzzi's, there's a Dr John Daytona signed up and a MGS-01 owner has shown interest. To date, the full list of entrants is: 12 x Buell XB models 1 x Buell tube-framed model 9 x modified Suzuki SV650's 2 x Ducati 1000DS 1 x Bimota Tesi 1 x Vyrus 984 1 x Laverda 750S 1 x Guzzi Daytona BTW - what's a Vyrus?
  19. Fancy entering your Guzzi in a competitive race series against Buells etc? then visit http://www.thunderbikeuk.com/page2.html for full details. They need a few more of Mandello's finest bellowing out that staccato beat . Time to dust off that MGS-01 you have parked in the front room and use it in anger... .
  20. I may be getting paranoid but I prefer not to plaster my reg number all over the internet. You read of so many problems caused by scum 'borrowing' others numbers to evade speeding fines etc. Regarding the Breva - well I love it . When it first appeared in prototype form I didn't really think much of it, but looked forwards to a test ride all the same. It was the test ride that sold it to me and I've even come to terms with its 'modern' styling features . It doesn't have the sporting edge of a V11 but it does have comfort, is user friendly and has more than enough performance for my needs. Its covered 5,000 miles to date and the engine/transmission is just starting to feel nicely bedded in. The phrase I keep using to describe the Breva 1100 is 'it's a quality product' and that is what has impressed me most. Since buying it on 27-08-05 I've toured Europe and used it in most weathers. The finish has held up remarkably well with no signs of corrosion. Most fasteners are nicely finished with many stainless ones used for non-structural points.
  21. To get this thread back on track ..... My pride and joy, taken 22nd April 2005 on the east coast of Yorkshire - which is known as 'Gods County' round these 'ere parts .
  22. Ferry all booked . Out 9th September, return 24th September. We're making another two week tour of it after having such a fantastic time this year. Fingers crossed, it looks as though my little bruv is coming with us on one of his Ducati's, so a trip to Mandello and Bologna awaits us - roll on 2006!
  23. The dates for the 85th Anniversary GMG are now confirmed as 15th/16th/17th (Friday to Sunday) September 2006. The notice appears on the Guzzi web site Now, where's my P&O contact number.....
  24. Saturday 22nd July 2006 - UKBEG Emma Radford Memorial Buell & European V-twin Festival. Location: Lincolnshire Aviation Centre On behalf of the UK Buell Enthusiasts Group I'd like to invite V11 owners to this festival. This will be our third event at this location dedicated to the memory of one of our members, Emma Jane Radford (pictured below) who passed away 22-04-04, aged just 26. We'll also be raising money for the Cystic Fibrosis charity. In addition to approx. 150 Buells, there'll be Italian bikes from the Aprilia, Cagiva, Ducati, KTM, Morini, and Moto Guzzi owners clubs. British bikes will include Brough Superior, Hesketh and Vincent. I hope to have importers and race teams at the event. The event will include a Lancaster bomber taxi-run and a Spitfire flying display. If you like Rolls Royce V12 Merlin engines at full chat you'll really appreciate this!
