    Am I crazy?

Al - I can't really speak with any authority on the later 'black engined' models but my (classic ) 1999 V11 has covered 48,000 miles without any major problems.
  2. I bought the Abba stand described above back in 1999 when I got the V11 and can highly recommend it. It's easy to use, doesn't mark the swinging arm chrome nuts and provides a stable platform when tinkering
  3. OK....it's a wet night in Yorkshire and I was bored..... My V11 outside Moto-Special, Germany in June.
  4. Hi Dave Yes, we went to Lotherton Hall so it would have been my V11, parked next to my wife Jane's Nevada. Funny thing is we walked around the bike park and noticed your V11 - small world isn't it . The event at East Kirkby was a great success - despite the weather to and from the location. Almost everyone got a soaking . This was the fifth year we've held our main event there but the first time we've invited European V-twins. The Ducati clubs in particular did us proud.
  5. 212 bikes - 81 Buell - approx. 60 Ducati - approx. 12 Moto Guzzi and £400 raised for the Cystic Fibrosis Charity. Despite the thunderstorms that most of us rode through, the weather for the event itself was very good. An excellent day . The Moto Guzzi Club GB web site has a good selection of pictures from the event http://www.motoguzziclub.co.uk/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=124 BTW it is my V11 in the pictures - my Buell S1's battery had expired in the recent hot weather...
  6. I know what you mean Antonio - sometimes these ideas work and then sometimes they don't . The trick is to keep trying and don't become disheartened .
  7. Despite the indifferent weather at the start of the day, we had 4 Griso's and 4 Breva's at the meeting .
  8. I've put the final details for this event on the Buell forum - please follow this link http://www.bike-pix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=14187 It promises to be a fantastic day - so don't be shy, get on your V11 and to Lincolnshire on Saturday 22nd July and join in the V-twin fun!
  9. Glad you had a safe trip home Carl and we hope you haven't suffered too much jet lag. The photographs will keep you going until you take delivery of a Griso ....
  10. Start saving for that blue Griso Carl .......you know you want one! It was great to meet both yourself and your son Doug. We spent a couple of very enjoyable hours at Hayward's. Martin, Rick, Jim and myself may not have filled the car park with our four V11's, but at least we put on a bit of a show for you .
  11. Hi Carl My wife Jane (Nevada 750) and I (V11) will be riding down from Yorkshire and we'll arrive before noon latest. Haywards looks easy enough to find ......
  12. The weather forecast is good for the weekend so hopefully we'll have a good turnout of UK V11's to meet Carl .
  13. What a brilliant weeks holiday, one of the very best! Not one drop of rain from start to finish, though it was a bit too hot at times with 33 deg C . Jane and I arrived home this morning at 9.50am after another smooooth ferry crossing - no lumpy sea conditions this time . We visited Hockenheim on Monday 12th as arranged with Jens Hofmann of Dynotec and spent a very enjoyable afternoon watching some very tasty Italian bikes thundering around. Race Guzzilla having his battery charged in the paddock and Jens about to take him out for a blast. On Tuesday 13th we visited Dynotec's workshops and I was lucky enough to ride the street version of Guzzilla, a V12 Centauro, a very special one-off Guzzi and a Quota. My favourite bike was this silver bike worth 32,000 euro ..... It was everything a Guzzi should be. 118 BHP and 120 NM combined with light weight and Ohlins (the forks are Triumph with Ohlins internals) suspension - what a machine! The petrol tank is hand-made in Berlin by a guy who restores Bugatti's. The engine is Dynotec V11 Sport unit with modified 5-speed gearbox. It was a dream to ride and I want one..... Jens showed us around the engine workshop and explained how they modify Mandello's rather basic design. Their V11 'Torque Kit' costs 1250 euro or 1700 euro with twin-spark. After riding the silver bike it's something I'd like to have done to my V11. After touring the Black Forest we headed up to the Oldtimer Cafe to meet old and new friends at the V11 Treffen. A fitting end to the holiday. We had a great time and it was good to meet Jaap, Antonio and Martin again - we haven't laughed so much for ages... .
  14. We depart for our German tour tomorrow, finishing the week at the V11 Treffen. I contacted Jens Hofmann at Dynotec and asked if we could visit his company early next week. He's invited us to Hockenheim race circuit on Monday (12th) afternoon to see their Guzzilla and Benelli Tornado RS race bikes being tested. On Tuesday we will visit his workshops to see all their Guzzi developments. I'll be like a big kid in a sweetshop .....

    HOLY S**T!!!

Polite cough...... as the proud owner of both the Breva 1100 and V11, I can only agree with all the sentiments expressed above .
  16. Have a safe trip Carl. We'll be at Haywards for lunchtime on the 24th - see you there .
  17. Stunning machine Guy - congratulations!
  18. Great pictures David - you've brightened up a rather dull and wet morning in Yorkshire .......never mind, only 12 months until the next V11 (& Breva ) Scottish weekend
  19. Carl - the 24th at Haywards is in the diary. We live 140 miles from Cambridge so meeting up at lunchtime would suit us best. I'm not sure about the UK launch date for the Norge - anyone else know?
  20. Just a few of my favourite pictures of the weekend. The west coast of Scotland has to be one of the most scenic places in Europe and Spean Bridge provides a great base from which to explore most of it. We'll definitely do the same thing next year.
  21. A great weekend, although the weather could be best described as 'mixed' . Saturday's run to Applecross was excellent and the sunshine plus stunning scenery made the day complete. You can put up with any amount of rain when things work out like that. I'll post some pictures when I've got more time - Moto GP beckons... Thanks to Guy and Helen, Mark, David and Martin for attending and for being such good company. Total bikes were 5 x V11's and 1 x Breva 1100 . We arrived home at 4.30 pm after enduring heavy rain and spray on the A1 for 102 miles between Newcastle and Leeds. Hope you all arrived home safely. BTW having a seagull stood on your head isn't very funny - they're quite heavy you know! .
  22. Yuk! what a crap morning We're waiting for it to stop blowing a gale and pi**ing it down before setting off. I think we'll arrive in Spean Bridge around mid-evening .
