Gary, there is a reason at least I do my best poses with fullface helmets not much to envy

I certainly did not mean to imply that Gary could dial-in a fork. My statement about "knowing what..." was a general statement meaning just what it say, no cheap shots at anyone intended! Some of us in this international forum do not have english as our first language. Sometimes it may make thing we write a bit crude, but the native speakers have to take a forgiving attitude otherwise it all goes pear-shaped. People may also have different opinions and priorities without anyone taking it as personal insult. Gary take it easy, noone hates you for prefering staying with Marzocchi/Sachs parts. I admit being a bit of a poser (but w/o Öhlins parts, at least yet), I sure Paul, Jean Marc and Antonio among other will too if pressured Being aggressive about poser attitude in a forum dedicated to an italian sport motorcycle might be a little bit out of place IMHO.

Hmm, I think we are missing the important point here: The suberb quality of the Öhlins means: - Lower inner resistance - predictable behaviour - good adjustablility makes it EASIER to dial it in. Read a Ducati forum, the diffence between the Showa and Öhlins parts in not the range adjustability but the ease and predictability of the setup. Of course, as usual, you still need to know what you are doing. (not implying anyone here does not, but it might be someone out there tampering with suspension who doesn't).

I think that when introducing the LeMans they did a small change to the geometry to make the chassi slightly more SportTouring and slightly less Sport - meaning a little less agility and a little more stability.
  5. OK the Brembos look like this: This is the top of the line billet version at $500 Paul prefered these PVMs: got no price but "not cheap" is a good asumption. the ISR unit I first posted is the most adjustable. Handbuilt at a resonable price.
  6. No, radial master cylinders and radially mounted calipers has nothing to do with each other except that they may sit at opposite ends of a hydralic line. But of course for maximum poser value you need both: ISR radial racing master cylinder SEK 2400 = $310 and you need 2 to get a match radial lever for clutch operation
  7. Raask is firm with a long tradition but sadly they have not keeped up with the standard we expect from 3rd party parts these days. But they are pretty inexpensive.
  8. They will if you have the fitting for then on your fork. Radial mounting means that the bolts are pointing towards the centre of the hub. Look at this pic:
  9. A dual outlet would make it harder to construct an effective sound restriction is such limited space.

Maria, check out Jean-Marc's supertwin http://www.supertwin.org/ He built his dreamguzzi which is lighter and faster than even a Daytona RS. Of course it was not an inexpensive exercise.

I have such a Paioli USD fork on my V11 Very adjustable, preload, compression and rebound easily set. I am pleased even though I have had time to dial it in yet. Much smoother action than the stock Marzocchi. Öhlins is top notch swedish carftmanship so those should surely be even better.
  12. Dynotec is claiming 97/100/108 hp on crank: http://www.dynotec.de/ with 4V engines they claim upto 132 (1200cc) it is doable, but it will cost you $$$ (or rather lots of euros)

Yes, we're just busy watching football
  14. Which means he can't do it... Check out FIM
  15. sorry for not linking to My16M, Cliff is here from time to time. The 1.5M version that fits V11s has just been made available and several people are pondering give it a try - including me. Motec make race ECUs which should be adaptable (Ducati versions). Quiet expensive and some work required.
  16. No no no. that is the only way! The smartest way is to remapped the stock Marelli ECU The coolest way is install a third party ECU to replace the Marelli unit like Cliff's My16M (plug-n-play) or a race ECU. The PC works OK and is kind of cool, but it is not an optimal solution since it add an extra box and complexity to the engine control which is not really needed.
  17. Adjusting the TPS to fatten the mixture does work and is a free fix, but it has it's limitations if you have made mods on intake/exhaust. it does not work at full throttle it fattens up over the whole register if needed or not loosing power in some spots. the accelator pumps adds fuel at a point of need not all the time Fatter mix = colder engine, less power Leaner mix = hotter engine, more power The trick is to get maximum power without overheating. Pinging is caused combination of heat and load, by added a little fuel (or water) at hard acceleration things are cooled down a bit. Of course higher octane petrol also reduce pinging.
  18. Martin, if we were talking race bike airboxes it would be a good point. The air box in that case is optimized to increase power in specified rpm range. Our airboxes (airboxen?) a primarily there to reduce the noise, second they are usually designed to fit whatever space is available. Tuning to "pillar of air" is hardly a considation in street bikes in general and in the V11s case: popping the lid of and getting instant power doesn't make me thing we have an specially optimized airbox.
  19. A Sport probably need more air than a Jackal so both points could be right. As I said before somewhere, a 1100 cc twin has plenty 'nogh torque, so I need more top power please. .. and runs like a sledgehammer really sounds great
  20. Yes, that's the plan. If the weather does permit I come on my V11 but it is quiet late in the riding season so I might have to make alternative travel arrangements if it get too wet and cold.
  21. No problems, I basically agree with you. and then OT: No, no tundra here, I live by the sea - in fact just 2 blocks from the shore line. In Kiruna where I lived until recently is closer to real Tundra. Luleå in red, Kiruna at the top of the map: BTW, Kiruna town (the top bit of the detailed map) is 20000 square kilometers, about half the size of Holland. The population is 25000, a bit less crowded than
  22. The Marelli EFI supports closed loop AFAIK as the 2004 bikes are sold with that config. This german 3rd party crossover has the mounting point for an Oxygen sensor:
  23. Antonio, We all know - hopefully - that it is smarter to reprogram the Marelli EFI-unit but some of us has no alternative. The shop closest to me that do that is Biscaya in Alingsås which is 1400 km from Luleå where I live, while you have a shop in your home town which can do it for you. On the other hand I have at least 3 dynocenters close by where I can go in an afternoon to get a custom map in a PC for my V11. So the less than optimal and more expensive PC-alternative is the only sensible alternative for me. (Yes, one day I will buy a "Cliff unit" but not today)
  24. Yes, it doesn't work on full throttle where you need the richer mixture the most. Regarding the acceleration pump: the PCIII-USB has an adjustable acc-pump function.
