  1. Hi Jaap, You have an older PC with a serial port if I remember correctly. Any old palm has a serial interface, the newest ones only has USB I think. I have a Palm but I rather take my work laptop home overnight to tinker with the PC, so my advise would be to use a cheap laptop in the garage.
  2. I am an hour ahead of Ireland, the people I worked with the last year in Athlone is probably just getting out of bed. 08.00 am here right now.
  3. OK, and the next question is Are the single and dual plate clutches interchangable? What do I need to get to convert my dual plate to a single plate or vice versa? Clutch plates, of course, but otherwise, fly wheel?
  4. I got an offer which I think is pretty good: I have no affiliation with M&P, just letting you know.
  5. ProItalia in LA is a distributor for FIM / Ultimap should be able to remap the stock ECU on California V11s. We have a distributer in Sweden but sadly they are located about 1200 km from me so I opted for a PC instead.
  6. especially that! Taste like licking an ashe tray Try some Grappa instead, cheap grappa tastes like a mixture of grape juice and kerosene the expensive stuff is better

    Oil again !

if you have to start you V11 in cold temperature (below freezing) 5W40 is the thing to use. We who drive cars during winter prefer 20W50 in our bikes. If you are a luddite - mineral is the way to go, the modern man belives in progress and buy high quality syntetic oil.
  8. 0.82 euro for unleaded 95 in Spain sounds OK, will move to Sevilla any day now
  9. I throw in a bid too, but still not over reserve so one of us has to fork out some more £s before we are really in the race
  10. They make R&T forks for all V11s but the forks are sold exclusively through Moto Guzzi.
  11. Agostini Duilio Teo Lamers Moto Mecca I have done business with all 3 of these - all nice people and resonably fast delivery. English is a business language of all there.
  12. Agreed with most KB and Pete say, but this aussie disagrees A few points: - You can ride a V11 pretty hard, you have a better power range then a RGV, but if you keep it over 5500-6000 rpm it really moves My naked 2001 a quiet responsive to steering too, especially after I replace the Bitubo steering damper with an Öhlins unit. And the breaks are better than what most japanese sport bikes have. - The secret of cornering (according to Keith Code) is to be done with breaking before the bend and slowly opening the throttle while going into it. The reason is that the diameter of the tyre is less when leaning so the same rpm effectively put some (engine) break on the rear wheel and we don't want that. - We all use countersteering, consiously or not. Being aware of the technic help us do the right thing when getting into a critical situation. - Don't try dragging a knee for it own sake, when you get comfortable enough to lean over that much it happens by itself. And no, I have not done it on the V11 since I didn't trust the tyres I had on enough and I don't really see the point. Most fun roads around here is a bit to bumpy for stunts like that. I again recommend "A twist of a wrist II", part I is mostly racing related, part II give good advise usable for every rider. It is not about running fast, it is about better control and saver riding.
  13. I think it all depend on what situation we are talking about. - cruising downtown and engine brake before turning in a crossing - racing at high speed shifting down a couple of gears before cornering in the 1st situation it is no problem except it is good idea to apply a little break to flash the break light at vehicles behind you. in the 2nd situation it put heavy pressure and the engine and gearbox and you could easily loose grip on the rear.
  14. turbo, yes. their normal kits for Hayabusa is just 280 and 425 BHP , this was just a run to test the limits. The Hayabusa engine is quiet bullet proof, since it is really a high speed touring machine weight is not a primary concern. The kit for Gixxer 1000 only gives 220 BHP since that engine is more optimized and gives less margins for excessive tuning.
  15. Sorry, I was wrong the counter is not HP it is kW. The result was 469kW/638hp before the top gasket went south, you can hear the bang of the gasket giving in.
  16. Ask around too, not all dyno benches are Certified which doesn't means that they can't do the job. These guys are not certified, keep an eye at the HP-counter
  17. OK now for some OT: Paul, you have raised the back of the Daytona. On a V11 - I think - it can't be raised very much since the shaft drive will hit the swing arm(?). Have you seen any solution to get around this?
  18. The profile will be sharper profiled with a wider tyre, BUT if you seen a real sport tyres I don't think you can lean more than the profile allows even with a width that matches the rim width. The difference will be that a sharper profile with less rubber to the tarmac will be more agile but again there is a thin line between agile and unstable and I think a sport tyre of correct size is agile enough for most riders. 180s is not very wide for a 5.5" rim but a 190 would be a bit pinched. I am putting Pirelli Dragon Corsa:s (120/60-17 + 160/60-17) on this spring, would have chosen Diablos but a got an irresistable price on the older Dragons.
  19. A wider tyre is pinch and the profile is changed and get less rounded. I think it is better to buy the correct width and choose the profile you want by picking a tyre model. Lock at these sport and sport touring tyres and compare the profile: The rounder profile of the ST tyre (Pirelli Sport Demon) make it more stable and less agile than the sport/racing tyre (Pirelli Diablo). Pinching the ST tyre makes it behave more like a sport tyre but it is not designed to be used like that and therefor a less than optimal solution,
  20. Sweet, I want one too, but I think I asked dynotec and they answered I couldn't buy 1 wheel (rear only). I already have a nice front wheel.
  21. I think bar-end mirrors look really but that just my opinion.
  22. yes, regular and Diablo Corsa. Compare them on the Diablo site and take your pick.
  23. Thanks Biesel, I must have read 10+ crossover threads but didn't find the right one. Great info. I hope to find a small welding station today so I can start my modifications. I'll keep you posted on the progress.
