  1. I just go out to visit the MZ grandkids about 3 times a year.. 2016-07-06_12-25-43 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  2. We'll be in California..
  3. I don't think either of those injuries will buff out. Sorry about both. Welcome to the bionic world..
  4. Gotta agree. It's no big deal to pull the heads on a Guzzi.
  5. Where's that popcorn emoticon?
  6. It had a chunk of valve guide go through the engine.. had a broken spring, too, but I didn't see any part of that missing.
  7. It'll come back.
  8. Yeah, I was with you in spirit, but camping at the Midwest Antique Airplane Club fly in. There's only so many things a guy can do on the same weekend. 2017-09-11_01-51-31 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  9. A rattle when you let off throttle is generally rod bearings. A main bearing normally is a low pitched thump, especially at startup before oil pressure builds. How fast oil pressure bleeds off after shutdown is a good indication of bearing condition, but it (naturally) requires an oil pressure gauge. I'm not hearing any of those sounds in the video. Possibly you are hearing the rocker arms going from side to side? There is a mod to put a thrust bearing on the rocker arm shaft to stop that. I'm still having a problem being concerned about what I'm hearing. Maybe I need better hearing aids? FWIW, I chased a noise in a Strada for months. Tore it down twice, balanced the entire rotating assembly. Eventually found it was a crash bar doing it.
  10. Sounds normal to me. Of course, I always wear ear plugs and don't generally hear the cacophony of sounds a Guzzi makes.. but.. I didn't hear anything in the video.
  11. Here, you can see it. About 4 inches in front of the relay block, on the outside of the tube. I'd say it's a factory installation. 2017-09-11_02-54-01 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  12. Nice pix, Docc. Thanks!
  13. As far as I remember, paint, Ti mufflers and ecu.
  14. Yeah, they are beginning to bring bigger bucks.
  15. That sounds like Redline shockproof heavy. Maybe you lucked out, and won't need to do anything. The thing about this oil is it is so tenacious it will really stick to gears. When you drain it, all of it won't come out. Then.. if you fill it with the correct amount, the box will be over full. Don't ask me how I know.
  16. Another great adventure in the books.
  17. Truth be known.. you never know. Naturally, it *should* be on, but conjunctions of the moon's orbit with Venus sometimes cause it not to be. I think. Pay no attention..
  18. Fabulous, Scud. The best moto video I've seen. Thanks for taking the time to do it.
  19. Really, the 03 is well sorted from the factory. You may need a different map if using intake and exhaust mods. It's easy with GuzziDiag.. a wonderful tool. It's also a valuable tool for trouble shooting. We now have the ability to do this sort of thing that we used to have to go to the dealer and pay the big bucks for. It's free except for a donation to the developer. Don't waste your money on a spoofer. At worst it can make your bike run so rich it will wash down cylinder walls and cause unnatural wear.
  20. ^^^^^ sounds likely if it's been apart.
  21. I personally don't like starting fluid. Pull a plug. Is it wet? Yes/No. Pretty easy. Sounds to me that it's not getting fuel for whatever reason. How about the injection relay? It's the last one in the stack. (farthest aft) Replace it with a known good relay. Just switch it with another except the one next to it. That's the ECU relay.
  22. As I mentioned on WG.. it's obviously been kept by an enthusiast that loved on it.
  23. A local guy had a greenie with a Magni fariring for a couple of years. It was bad..
