  1. Guy's When are you going to do a REAL Southern Spine raid ?? Like the Southern hemisphere per chance!! You could call it the EXTREME Southern Spine Raid perhaps ? Seriously though, hope the planets align and it's a goer for you all.Have a bloody good time and enjoy it eh.   2. I hear you about getting outa the rat race mate.It seems to be getting crazier all the time! We did several road trips and looked around all over before we made the move so it wasn't a hasty decision. I still work and didn't want to retire just yet so in the end settled for something commutable to Dandenong. The fact that we fell in love with where we are and the wee town of Drouin was icing on the cake eh.We're basically an hour from the snow, same from the beach and same from our families. It's funny I always felt an affinity with Gippsland, don't know why.I'm not a native either being a Kiwi, maybe it reminds me of NZ or something? Ha ha. I know the weathers a bit all over the place but I kinda like having 4 seasons , must be the Kiwi in me, I'm from CHCH so know all about changeable weather! Funny you mention your daughter coming down.My wife was hell bent on us moving to Tassie, but I kept telling her wait till we see grandkids as although close we'd not see them as often as we can when you can just jump in the car and drive for an hour.We now have 3 and it's bloody good to able to see them so easily.Well not at the moment but this lockdown won't last.     No worries mate! Now that I have a new Tank bag - yay. The Minister thinks it a good time to clear these from the shed after 10 years of gathering dust ha ha . More than happy for someone to get some use out of them or parts thereof. Cheers Guzzler

    Tekno Bags

    G'day mate. I have a set of these Tekno bags that came with my bike. I'm not a fan of them and removed the framework from the bike.Everything was then shoved in the shed. Long story short, I'll never use them and if someone else can get some use out of them then free to a good home! A caveat though. The right side bag was ripped and the previous owner repaired the pannier with cable ties to get him where he needed to be at the time. However it's only the fabric and inside structure is intact as is all the framework.The left bag is all good! I'm not able to post any photos unfortunately ( beyond my expertise ). Jeez I suppose the other caveat would be the tyranny of distance. I'm in Victoria Oz ! Still, don't suppose it'd be that expensive to post eh. Anyways if anyone's interested let me know and after the lockdown I'll see about getting them packed up / posted. Cheers Guzzler
  5. G'day. I don't profess to be knowledgeable about these matters but from what I understand the PC111 was the only way to get around factory tuning issues back in the day? The ECU was sealed or blocked somehow and you couldn't over-ride it's parameters so it had to be fooled by whatever method ie PC111.If you wanted to retune it. I know when I first got my bike, my mechanic was trying to get Magneti Marelli to let him access their ECU's without success so went the PC111 route. Then he was able to alter the ECU via Tunerpro ( I think ) and now with GuzziDiag ( or a combination of both ) it would appear that it's a lot better / easier to alter the ECU to suit your mods. I was also told that the PC111 has been known to cause issues on it's own? However at the end of the day I can say that my bike has run better since I got rid of the PC111 but as I have mentioned there may have been other things that may have contributed to this. Persist with it though mate as you'll love it once it's sorted. I wonder sometimes if getting these buggers sorted is a rite of passage to see if we're worthy of ownership! Cheers Guzzler

  8. Ha ha. We watched that as well !! Was good to see the town and environs on the TV eh. We made the tree change 6 years ago and don't regret it for a moment mate.Beautiful part of the world. Give me a yell next time you're heading to Lang Lang mate, maybe catch up for a coffee ? When we're able to get out and about freely again of course I travel the Lang Lang to Drouin road a fair bit so any excuse to do it again eh!!   9. This was some time ago and I don't think Guzzidiag was about ? Or if so in it's infancy. Think it may have been done via Tunerpro alone?Don't quote me on that though. But once the ole bugger was running well, pretty much left well enough alone eh. Thanks though mate but doing it myself is beyond my capabilities. I will look into having the map refined at some stage as Guzzidiag sounds like it's a better option to fine tune it. Cheers Guzzler
  10. Oh something I forgot to mention. After all this was done she was a lot better but still not quite right. I think the last piece of the puzzle was setting the CO trim to +40 and no dramas since. At one stage it was returned to +20 and guess what returned! Hope this helps someone out there as this really did annoy me at the time eh!! Cheers Guzzler
  11. Yeah I had the hiccup/stumble thingy happening too, in the early days. It REALLY PISSED ME OFF. Touch wood she hasn't done it now in years ( God I hope I haven't provoked the great Guzzi God of gremlins for mentioning it !) Not really sure what may have sorted it as probably a combination of things. Replaced the crap timing chain tensioner for the Stucchi one ( much better ), got rid of the power commander and had ECU reflashed, new TPS. This was after changing out all sensors plug leads and generally chasing the demon blah blah. Anyways she been bloody good for ages now! Touch wood ha ha Cheers Guzzler

    Wow, thanks LowRyter , 16 inches long x 12 inches wide at the back. In metric that would make it 36cm x 30cm which means the Oxford bag will work at the back! Just the front of it at 32cm wide which could be the problem, although I think this measurement includes the side pockets and the base is slightly narrower ? Mate, any chance you could advise the width of your Guzzi bag at the front where it tapers in? Sorry to be a pain. Cheers Guzzler

    G'day again Folk's. Sorry for carping on about this but stage 3 Covid means work suspended ( it's in metro melb ) for 6 weeks and I'm stuck at home. Not as bad as Metropolitan Melbourne and some environs on stage 4 though, as it looks like I can escape for a ride now and again! If the weather brightens up.I'm in the country. Anyways I finally got an answer from the Oz distributor as to the dimensions of the Oxford 30 litre strap on bag.Not so simple as just fronting up and trying on for size these days Eh! It appears to be 38cm long by 32cm wide by 25 high.This may be a bit wide at the front for our odd shaped ( but beautiful ) V11 tanks as they taper in at the front. The Guzzi bag accommodates our tanks by tapering at the front to fit the tank but these are unobtainable so I'm wondering if the Oxford bag could be made to work? Any thoughts from anyone who has tried the Oxford bag on our bikes or at least a bag of similar proportions ( ie approx. 28-32 cm wide at front of bag ). I have also sussed out the Kreiga 20 litre tail bag ( 40cm L x 26 w x 19 h ) which could possibly work but works out approx. $320 Oz( bag + tank converter ) for 20L + delivery as compared to $240 delivered to my door for the Oxford which can handle 30 Litres. Being a typical Guzzi nut the $ plays a part.Well it does to the minister.I also like the look of the Oxford bag so hoping it could work out. Once again I appreciate any of your thoughts.   17. Gave her an overdue clean and polish after a 500k strop through the backroads yesterday ! Sadly it looks like it may be the last for awhile as we look like going into severe lock down due to Covid 19. Enjoy your bike folks and stay safe!     Thanks for the info fellas! I've not seen the Bagster/Baglus system here in Oz I must say. However not really a fan of this type either due to a messy experience with tank covers back in the seventies! Dare say this set-up is probably light years away from that though. Still I couldn't bring myself to cover up all of that beautiful green tank eh! I have the 30 litre Kreiga backpack and yep it is very very good, waterproof as well.I've ridden in some pretty ordinary weather and it's contents are always bone dry. I can't see how it could be used as a tank bag though. Funny my bike came with the Techno pannier system as well but I removed the frame and never used them.I also didn't like the look ha ha. Which brings me back to the Oxford bag.They do look pretty good and we have a new importer here in Oz so are available now. Footgoose, it seems like you didn't have any fitment issues with the Oxford bag yeah? It would only be used now and again when doing the aforementioned 2 / 3 day trips whilst the Kreiga will still be used day to day and probably to keep stuff dry on the trips.Albeit somewhat lighter.     Tank bag

    G'day Folks I'm toying with the idea of buying a tank bag. I've been using a kreiga back pack for years now and bloody good it is! However I've discovered that when doing a 2 or 3 day ride the ole backside starts to get BLOODY SORE towards the end of each day. Now I know that a fair bit of this is the stock seat and I use an Air Hawk as well, but I reckon a good part of it is the added weight in the pack putting a bit more pressure on the ole freckle. I did a search and found apart from the Guzzi bag which people don't seem to like and a Cortech which is not available here in Oz not much info. Has anyone used or have any experience with Oxford bags? I like the look of the 30litre strap mount as don't like the gas cap mount jobbies and of course magnetic is out.Also the bloody foam pad on our beasties might make things interesting? Still I reckon you could get round the pad issue? Any thoughts? The minister of finance will not take kindly to the extravagance of buying one then another until finding one that works out eh!   24. G'day again. Update # 2 Well headed off into the gloom Friday morning to get the GT11's fitted.About 70 kays away. The forecast was for MISERABLE but was hoping to get away early and back before the worst of it. Well got there before the front came through and got them fitted.It took Rob about an hour and it was good to chat, also met the Pirelli rep whilst there. I also got to meet a bloke with a new v7 Milano who is very impressed with it after downsizing from his Aprillia.He had the luxury of dropping his bike off there and being driven home by his wife! Well now for the moment of truth, I get to find out what these things are like. Of course the weather decides to take a turn for the worst at this stage but hey temp has crawled up to 8 degrees.Yay. Wow these make the bikes steering feel lighter and quicker.At the first roundabout I was reminded of the time I got off my 900 Honda rolladoor and took my brothers Honda 250 wet dream out for a spin and nearly threw it on the ground at the first roundabout.Wee bit of a weight difference between the two. Anyways by the time I had 20 or so kays on them I was getting used to that. I can't give much of an impression as by the time I'd gotten to the 40 kays of fun and interesting the weather was pretty shitty and there was mud and cow shit over the road in parts making life on new tyres a lesson in concentration. They never gave a moments concern though, no slips/ slides, plenty of feel and grip! I reckon the Pirelli rep is right in that they are an improved version of the original ! Got the feeling I'm going to love these and looking forward to more riding! Cheers Guzzler Ps that weather system got quite a lot worse later in the day too ( it's lasted the whole bloody weekend) but by that stage I'd gotten home had a hot shower and some lunch ! The glass or three of Shiraz by the fire at wine o clock just made a bloody good day all the better.
  25. Ha ha sounds like we're all a lot alike eh! I first saw a road test of a mark 3 le mans in Two Wheels mag about 1980 ish and fell in lust then! You never saw any Guzzi's in ChCh ( NZ ) in those days! Anyways fast forward a bit after travelling for a few years and lobbing into Oz, and getting back into bikes big time ( big jap sports bikes ) I test rode a mark 5 LeMans in 89! I didn't buy it as I was seduced by a Black and gold limited edition Zook GSXR 1100 instead, but bloody hell did that Mk 5 leave a lasting IMPRESSION ! Like many got out of bikes, married house etc ! Then about 10-12 years ago when the disease reappeared I thought, THIS TIME IT WILL BE A GUZZI. I couldn't make my mind up which one at first but circumstance and the universe brought a GREEN V11 SPORT into my life!! Love the bloody thing and I too will not part with her .
