I am curious, is there anything special/better/exotic about that agostini driveshaft vs. a new stock one? Is it lighter, or stronger, easier to service? Not being sarcastic, genuinely curious. The product description page doesn't offer any details about it. It is a little bit cheaper than the one on MG Cycle...

Good call. Keep us posted.

When you get the original U-joint off, clean the needle bearings, grease it, and I'm thinking you'll have a good , reliable spare.

Wasn't asking for you LowRyter, was asking for me. Looking at the photos up close, they appear to be identical, so if there is a difference it isn't apparent.

Anyway, just so you know, €366 minus the 22% VAT which you don't have to pay of buying from and shipping to outside Italy, is actually a really big markdown: $388 vs. the $730 at MG Cycle. Who will also charge for shipping unless you plan on swinging by and picking it up from them.

To whom it may concern : who ever removes this driveshaft , make sure there are paint marks on both the slip yoke and main tube of the shaft .

We got into this discussion some time ago about timing a driveshaft tube/slip yoke .

LowRyter, how many miles on your Sport?

24-25k miles.  I bought it with 14k, Aug 2012.

4th back tire going on since I bought it.

2.5K average per tire. What are you using? I tend to only get 3-4K with PR2's CT and I ride hard but not race-speed and dont abuse the clutch.

no wait.  The tire that came on the bike was toast and I got rid of it after a month.  Then I purchased a Dunlop Qualifier full Sport tire and replaced that one with a Michelin PR3 (which I rode to North Carolina and back).  I noticed the PR3 was center channeled and getting down to the wear bars (and much more worn that the PR3 on my Bandit), so I decided to replace it now with Pirelli Angel GT.  I still have aPR3 on the front. Of course, I still haven't even ridden it with Angel.

I've learned the hard way, not to go off on a trip when the wear bars are even starting to show.  I've gotten home from a couple of trips with lots of steel belt showing from the center    :o    pretty scary  -which I think was why I got rid of the Qualifier.

So I am prepping for the Daytona trip and getting everything prepped (even though I taking the 5th wheel).

I am not certain when I installed the PR3 but my inclination is that I didn't get the mileage I expected.

Docc will tell you I ride like a little old lady.  In fact, I am retired, a senior citizen.   :oldgit:

Yeah,  . . . yeah - that's right.

Lots of little old ladies passed me going up the Cherohala that morning . . . I'm not mentioning any usernames, but . . .

Define worn out, please. What exactly are the symptoms? It's not really a common fault and your's probably still well also....

I think mine's worn out:

Maybe. But grenaded is something different, I think, and not so uncommon. Your's is the second one I've seen so far. Those clamps may break, due to hardening faults, improper slotting, whatever.

For a worn U-Joint people shouldn't need a 'specialist mechanic' to detect it.

I'm on the road now.  Actually entered the Greenie into the local bike show.  I put the HB bags on it, the MG tank Bag and the fiber fly screen.  Also has a new Angel on the back.  Cleaned off the grease.  Bike ran good.

I've taken a 3rd place trophy with the EV (which was also pictured in "Motorcyclist" magazine).  We'll see how the Sport works out.
