But they tend to not improve the state of the wiring. Only 5V at the starter is even less than mine had when I bought it. Edited April 24 by audiomick 1
Scud Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 Picked up the Scura today - same repair for the wiring. The Scura and Nero Corsa have both been sitting a lot due to unreliable starting. Hopefully they will both in reliable service for a while now. 2
Scud Posted April 27 Author Posted April 27 I took them to a mechanic. I'm not great at electrical trouble-shooting. I had gotten to the point of frustration in my own attempts to fix it - I'd get them going, then that would last for a few rides and the problem would return. And that contributed to them sitting idle, which probably didn't help matters. Now (finally) I feel confident that they will start every time. 2
LaGrasta Posted Wednesday at 09:41 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:41 PM @Scud I seem to have finally worked out all the bugs in my V11, sounds like you have too. I'm now retired, so even more time to ride. Let's plan something together. We could meet in San Clemente for Cars & Coffee as it's in the middle. 1
LaGrasta Posted Wednesday at 09:44 PM Posted Wednesday at 09:44 PM Hmmm, now that I think about this, @Scud did I meet you by chance a few months ago at C&C and just hadn't realized it was you from the V11 forum?

The long awaited SURFIN' SPINE RAID ! 1 1
Scud Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM Author Posted Wednesday at 10:43 PM I have not been to Cars & Coffee in San Clemente. I'll send PM re some times for a ride. A San Diego (backcountry) or Sierra Spine Raid would be cool. 2
audiomick Posted Saturday at 10:14 PM Posted Saturday at 10:14 PM Today I took the forks out of the V11 Le Mans. It's been standing around in the garage for months now with a blown fork seal. Upon taking the forks out, I got the impression that probably both are leaking. I'm going to give it away to have it done. Probably just to the local workshop that I go to. Getting trick cartridges installed is a very tempting idea, but that will have to wait, I think.

Pretty simple job Mick I did a tutorial on it here somewhere. Phil
guzzler Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Posted Saturday at 10:29 PM Took mine into work on Friday. Bloody hell, zero to 2 degrees on the Longwarry Flats was BRUTAL. Couldn't get my helmet off at the servo as hands wouldn't co-operate, so the re-fuel took a bit longer ha ha. Anyway, it was a lovely 20 degrees for the ride home and even managed to get round the four wheeled fun barriers to ENJOY the twisty bits.... Cheers 2

Phil Yeah, but I'm having trouble even finding time to wipe my arse at the moment. The bi-annual roadworthy is due this month, and I just want to get it back on the road as quick as possible. The motor needs some attention too. Nasty hiccoughs between 2 and 3.000 rpm that I need to sort out. Edited Saturday at 10:36 PM by audiomick

Well Mick you can cheat the roadworthy buy prying down the dust seals and inserting some absorbent material in the void between the dust seal and main seal. Usually gets you through the test and a few hundred Klms. 1

Good idea for the short term, but I think I'd rather have the seals done and get the mechanic to clean out the guts and have a look at how much wear has happened in the 70,000 km. that the forks have done. What happens after that will be on the back burner for now, but at least I'll know where I stand.
