  2. I was fortunate enough that the V11 I stumbled into already had Staintunes mounted. And there they'll stay. The dB killers might make suitable cigar holders.
  3. Today
  4. I seem to remember the 700 engines had a bad reputation for cracking crankcases. Pete Roper would be able to confirm or deny. Phil
  5. The pork chops hold the bike together so act accordingly support wise. Not possible to anodise cast aluminium in Australia or I imagine in NZ either. Rub them back with wet and dry and green Scotchbrite then spray them with 2K paint like I did a few years ago. Phil
  6. gas isn’t nearly as expensive here, though the ethanol free stuff we use for these kinds of machines is the most expensive stuff we can get, at least out where i live. Some states don’t have the premium on ethanol free… don’t know nor want to bother my brain with what madness that’s all about.
  7. So do I that why I wont bother with blue. It was just an AI experiment. Like images of my car with silver wheel instead of black. Useful this AI don't need photoshop cost or expertise these days. Did I have anyone fooled?
  8. Hi guys I’m nearly there seat back tomorrow pipes done just finished up painting some touch ups now I have one question for a future tidy up my pork chops are faded on one side of the bike right so firstly if I undo them will anything bad happen secondly I’m in two minds about the finish to put back on th I’m leaning towards vapour blast then paint candy red or get them re anodized any input appreciated
  9. Good advice that has happened to me before. I have a test tool with two leads, a bulb and AA battery. Obvious how it works I also use it to check guitar cords.
  10. What method did you use to check fuses? It wasn't too long ago here someone just did a visual inspection and missed a bad fuse. 5 pages of troubleshooting later he checked them with a meter and found the source of his woes.
  11. Regarding changing them: I was advised by a bloke here in Germany who, I believe, used to run a Guzzi workshop. He changes out the relays every 4 years or so at the latest. In his opinion, they are a part that wear out, and should be changed before they fail. Whether they are all the same: no, originally they were not, as far as I know. Some had four pins, some five. The difference being, the ones with four pins just switch one thing on, the ones with five switch one thing or another thing on, depending on whether the are activated or not. I.e. when not activated, one thing is one, when activated that thing is off, and the other thing is on. But... the sockets are all the same, and the five pin relays work in place of the four pin ones. The five pin relays have a harder life, so it is a good thing to have five pin relays in all positions in order to be able to swap all of them with all of them when something critical stops working because of a dead relay.
  12. I like the green better.
  13. I have a feeling I'll be waiting on paint a lot longer than I want to...we'll see.
  14. Yes, get the Picker Components relays and put in all five positions.
  15. I'm not certain what brand they are, however I read through the thread started by Paul 6506 "Fuel Pump?" and found a lot of information there. Looks like I can swap some relays around to test #5 which is the one closest to the back of the bike. I also see that if that #5 relay is bad, good practice is to change all 5 to Pickers brand? I have no idea when they were changed last. All all the relays the same? It's going to be a day or so before I can do the test.
  16. There are a couple blue V11 in our archives. Here is one posted in 2008 . . . And from treasured member @joe camarda:
  17. Yesterday
  18. What relays are under the seat now @SierraTango?
  19. SOON ready. Nice, EVERYTHING sorted. Shoud be cleared for some km . Cheers Tom.
  20. Check ALL connections. Relay 5 involve fuel pump. Underneat fuse box, 4 live wires make sure good connections. They supply + to relay side. Cheers Tom.
  21. Still some Greenie left, spoiler underneath. Jaguar E paint? Like the color, but It's kind of hard not seeing the Greenie behind the blue . Cheers Tom.
  22. Further to the question; headlight comes on but no high beam from switch, turn signals work, no horn.
  23. 2002 Le Mans. Turn the key to on, kill switch off. No lights on dash other than neutral light. Pull in clutch the starter turns over but no start. Question1 I checked all the fuses all good. I don't hear the fuel pump coming on. Which relay from front of bike to back of bike should I be looking at? Which connector should I clean? Battery is good. Any help appreciated!
  24. Why nit just drain the fuel then pour in a littke kight oil, sgake the rank around tgen flush it iut next year. Cheaper than a wasted rank full if fuel. Ah, perhaps you don't pay Europran prices..😃
