  2. You use to hear that some people would put these in the $14-15k range. I just didn't see how. https://www.lelandlittle.com/items/366967/rare-2004-moto-guzzi-v11-coppa-italia/?ref={"name"%3A"Automobiles"%2C"url"%3A"\%2Fauction\%2Fthe-march-estate-auction\%2F53689\%2Fsearch\%2F%3Fadd_filters%3D%7B%22entities%22%3A%5B%7B%22type%22%3A%22category%22%2C%22id%22%3A10016%2C%22name%22%3A%22Automobiles%22%7D%5D%7D"} I can't think of a worse time to hold an auction but I'm guessing the kids want the money now. Given that he apparently liked the bikes more than the kids I'm sure they can't wait to get rid of them. Timing might be part of the low price. But I suspect this is the neighborhood these bikes should go for. $7000.

  4. Thanks Phil! On a tangential note, We ended up leaving our fire tanker (aussies call it a “bomber”) down the road from you, at Avalon airport, in a bit of a hurry last week. Had to get the crew out of there while the gettin’ was good. Once things let up a bit on the apocalypse, i may volunteer myself to go get it and bring it back to US for our fire season here. Hopefully won’t be too long till that can happen, but who knows. Dug out my Guzziology book last night, and will hump it up to the shop today, where it belongs... Sun is starting to show itself a bit, so gotta get Back up there to shop and get her ready for the road! I did indulge last night and ponied up for replacement logo for alt cover off of ebay. $28 delivered seemed too high for what it is, but knew it would bug me now that I’m thinking about it, so i played the sucker and sent my money... supposed to be at lake como this fall, with a deposit already down on an AirBnB near Varenna, to go back again to Mandello and tour around on one of Agostini’s rentals, but wondering how things are going to play out. May just have to head for nearby and thinly populated eastern Oregon and pretend I’m riding up to Stelvio Pass...

  5. Not the first time I’ve heard of one going that low. I will say that if you carefully look at all of the pics I don’t think it was in top condition. Rarity absolutely doesn’t equal value. Desirability does.

  6. Some time today was spent resolving the side cover fitment. Since day 1 owning a V11 the fitment was rubbish which caused cracking around the mounts. Eventualy my LH cover front mount area lost a whole piece the crack extended so far. I dont know if this is typical( I suspect it is as I have 3 sets of covers and a spare airbox and the fitment seems the same) The RH cover here is a brand new factory unit and the LH is a freshly painted repaired one, both bought years ago awaiting their time in the sun so I'm keen that they dont crack. I'd be interested to know if the factory carbon covers fit any better because the Nylon originals are appalling. The only way around the problem that I could see was to elongate some of the mounting holes so the covers could fit without any loading at all. I achieved this and to assist with future longevity I machined up the heads of some aluminium 5mm button head screws I had laying around. I must say I'm not enthralled with the looks of the screws as i'd rather something small and discrete like the originals but I wanted some fixing area around the screw heads. I machined the buttons down from 16 to 14 mm head dia and took the roundness off. Like I said a bit too chunky but there you go. First image and this is whats required to make the LHS cover fit without any load on the mount points. Elongate the top hole 7mm. I mean this hole is nowhere near the right location. The LH cover didnt need any rework to this mount but required around 5mm elongation to the lower hole. Ciao

  7. With the solid mount fairing and particularly the gauges, there is scant room for clipons at full lock.

  8. My pork chops look like a 10 yr old with a chipping hammer had an afternoon to play with them . Perfection ? You drag a tool box drawer across a four coat of clear on a CF front fender . I went from Klingon to Ghandi in a few minutes . I realized there are worse things in life than scratches .

  9. The Sport has not been out for six weeks. Just 32 miles and a tank of fresh fuel, but she ran like a Labrador Retriever on his way from the truck to the boat . . .
