You cannot operate this bike w/o this forum . Make sure you have a large wiring diagram , an analog and digital meter , a degree in electricity / electronics , a good shop , $10k worth of tools , the strength to push a bike 1/4 mile ( 0.4k ) and a good attitude . Oh yeah , a Japanese bike too .4 points

After the throttle body R&R / fuel injector rebuild / TPS sync. / all the other wok ( I can't spell ancillary ) I took it for a spin . Ran out of fuel , sorta . It worked excellent after I turned the fuel on . Parked for a month . The week I left for Indiana to work I found gasoline on the floor again . I removed the tank about 10 Xs trying to fix it . The last same leak was all I wanted . I had all the MG I wanted . all I do is tinker with these things ALL the time . I am gonna load both onto the trailer , go down to the pond and make submarines out of them . I finally got the newish fuel level sensor , repaired the leak & wiring problem , repaired the front pucks so the tank could be installed w/o the RR jack handle . I did my best Jackie Gleason " And away we go " ....... Two revolutions and I am hearing George Thorogood in my shop . Nothing has , will or ever will replace the sound , satisfaction , feeling of this bike.... All is well in Kyland .2 points

I know the feeling... even though I have one now.. I always regretted selling my first one that I bought new. Even though I’ve had some very fine machines in between.. The V11 was special to me. The only bike that came close was my ‘05 999R Maybe it’s my preference for twins, but that was also a very well (and sadly a sales loser) put together machine. My Scura will be pried out of my cold dead hands....1 point

Sure do hope our brothers in the Southern Hemisphere keep the riding pictures coming. Buzz says, "We'll pay you back in a few months. Promise!"1 point

It was all fixed via using a single float bowl off to the side. As to cranks, never heard the German bit. I do know the the early ones with a cross-plane crank have the traditional V8 sound, while the later flat crank models (gotta re-do all that ignition and cam timing), sound like the two 4 cylinder inlines, which essentially it is. Despite all of its flaws, it was an astounding bit of accomplishment in still-rebuilding-from-the-war Italy. It was compared to nothing contemporary. Rather, everything else, for some years on, was compared to it.1 point

Come to think of it docc neither have I but it must be. He's not the sort of person that would paint it a non original colour. Ciao1 point

That is where your skills come into play . If I wanted to get on a bike , to start , get there , come back and pull in the shop w/o a hitch , I'd ride the V-Strom !1 point

You should get the spacer too . When you do this , fill the bearing with a GOOD grease . It seems as though all bearings have just enough grease to keep them from rusting . Bearings like this (minor movement) should be filled completely on installation .1 point

Here's a source for magnetic mounting of a tank bag. I have not contacted Moto Machines to see if they have installed on any V11 LeMans models since I used the SW Motec ring. This company also carried racks for Hepco/Becker side and top bags as well. https://www.motomachines.com/hepco-becker-lock-it-tank-ring-6-bolt-pattern-select-aprilia-moto-guzzi-triumph-cagiva-benelli-kawasaki-mz-bmw1 point

Normally I'm like that as well, however that meant ordering parts in Netherlands, which was in a snowstorm and therefore would take at least a week, keeping me from rebuilding her and therefore working on my other bikes due to lack of space... As this bearing only sees minor movement, I'm fairly confident it will last another year or two (which usually is less than 5000km). If you are referring to the rose/heim joints, I'm less confident but they are easily checked once in a while as they are out in the open.1 point

I've not seen a V7Sport that color. I find it striking, yet very tasteful with the red frame . . .1 point

The Guzzi shaft system is only a later rear drive system 1970's onward. Chain was the favoured system pre 70's.1 point

It took me a while to design it, I'm not fast like that. All the fasteners and bushes are Titanium. The 4 nuts on the on the 6mm fore/aft adjustment bolts are superficious and I may remove them at some point for a neater look. The base of the vertical legs rest on the frame top rail to control any possibility of any rocking movement. I wanted something that could be restored to original without any welding etc. Ciao1 point

I cut an arc 10mm thick off the pucks and about 1/3 around . Drilled and pinned them so they wouldn't spin and installed the tank . P.S. the leak was at the retaining nut . Installed another sensor (used) from a 2000 tank & had to swap connector because it was DIFFERENT . BTW , the tank fell onto the bike !1 point

There should be plenty half dismantled old T3 availlable around with bashed body work etc, better resucitated into a Café than left to rot and waiting for the scrap yard. Anyway you dont need any bodywork or wheels if they are cast. Also,You will find plenty low mileage ugly ex police T5 in Italy for E3000 or there about ,you can swap the barrels for new 940 Gilardonis round fins and get Le Mans heads. Good Luck from Cork, Ireland (Pics are before and after)1 point

Really.. can't even go for the obvious cx500??? Neg 1 for lack of effort Meh if the bike is a non runner putting it back on the road in any condition is a win. I guess asking this forum is a non wining strategy but few of these are rolling art. There is a reason the E-Type or 911 or Healy is collectible and an MGB, alpha sud or TR7 isn't. Notice I didn't ask about classic Le Mans right??? Most round cyl Guzzis are workaday aquired taste at best.1 point

All the roundfin Tonti's are basically the same apart from valve size, combustion chamber and piston dome shape and carburettor and port size. Pretty much everything else is cosmetic. Please don't hack up yet another lovely old T3 or SP. if you want to build some turgid 'Cafe Racer' start off with something shitful that nobody cares about.1 point
